About the exam

About KIITEE

Behind the single name KIITEE sit separate question papers, and the programme on a candidate's application decides which of them they are given. The KIITEE 2026 admission policy states that admission to all the courses will be only through KIITEE, and in the line under it that admission to MBBS and BDS courses will be only through NEET. Both sit on the same page, and the gap between them is the first thing to get straight about this exam.

KIIT Deemed to be University runs KIITEE for its own campus in Bhubaneswar, and it is KIIT's own admissions that the result feeds. The courses available through KIITEE 2026 run from engineering, nursing, law, design, film and journalism through computer applications, commerce and the arts subjects to the biotechnology degrees, the master's programmes and the doctoral programmes, with medicine and dentistry carved out to NEET.

What the single name hides is that candidates do not all write the same thing. The KIITEE 2026 test syllabus page sets out separate syllabi for the B.Tech paper, for B.Tech lateral entry, for B.Sc Nursing, for the biotechnology B.Tech, for MCA together with M.Sc Computer Science, for M.Tech, for M.Sc Biotechnology and Microbiology, for Ph.D, for LL.M, and one shared paper covering BBA, BCA, the five year law degrees, fashion design, film and television production and the Master of Communication and Journalism. A candidate's programme decides the paper, the syllabus and the merit list.

The exits matter as much as the papers. MBBS and BDS never enter KIITEE at all. A B.Arch candidate does sit it, but is also required to hold a pass in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture conducted by the Council of Architecture. An M.Tech candidate carrying a GATE score of 400 or above is excused the test entirely. Both of those conditions are written into the KIITEE 2026 eligibility criteria.

Important dates

The testing is finished for the 2026 cycle. KIIT ran it in phases, the last of which was held on 30 August 2026, with applications closing on 28 August 2026 and the admit card released the same day, per the KIITEE 2026 Calendar of Events. Applications for the first phase had opened on 10 November 2025, well before that phase was examined in April.

Three things about that table are worth knowing before it is read as a guide to how the next cycle will run. KIIT marks every row tentative and subject to change in its own footnote. The Phase 4 block gives an admit card date that falls before its own last date of application. And the calendar carries no Phase 3 at all, although the KIITEE 2026 counselling schedule page publishes a full set of Phase 3 counselling schedules, and the Phase 5 notice on the KIITEE admission home page shuts out anyone who appeared in or registered for Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 or Phase 4. Two of KIIT's own pages describe a phase its calendar never lists.

The calendar page is still the KIITEE 2026 one, and it carries no dates beyond that cycle.

Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

Eligibility is written per programme, not per level, and the bar moves a long way between them. KIIT set out each of the following separately for the 2026 cycle.

Candidates still sitting the qualifying examination may apply for any of these courses, but the KIITEE 2026 eligibility criteria warn that the pass certificate must be produced on the day of counselling, failing which the rank stands cancelled automatically.

Quotas sit on top of that. KIIT's reservation of seats page reserves 15% of quota seats for Scheduled Caste candidates and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe candidates by birth, 3% for physically challenged candidates with locomotory disabilities of 40% or more, and 30% of each category for women in B.Tech and the biotechnology dual degree, with unfilled reserved seats converted to general. That page still calls these the KIITEE 2020 quota seats and has not been rewritten for later cycles, so treat the percentages as KIIT's standing policy rather than a fresh notification.

Step by step

Application process and fee

There is no application or examination fee. KIIT states it plainly on its KIITEE 2026 information page, and the international applicants block on the KIITEE admission home page repeats it for candidates applying from abroad. There is no fee to waive and no concession to claim.

The form itself is online only, with no printed version. The KIITEE application procedure asks candidates to fill the form on the KIITEE site, upload a photograph, a signature and the 10th pass certificate or mark sheet, and keep a printed copy of the submitted form for later correspondence.

Money enters at counselling, not at application. Candidates called to counselling must carry Rs 75,000, which includes a counselling registration fee of Rs 10,000, with the balance of the fee due on the day of reporting, according to KIIT's counselling and seat allotment page.

One rule caught out repeat candidates in 2026. A notice on the KIITEE admission home page restricted the final phase to fresh candidates who had not appeared in or registered for any earlier phase, so a candidate who had already written the test could not simply sit it again for a better rank.

Before the exam

Admit card and exam day

Admit cards are downloaded from the KIITEE site, and the KIITEE 2026 Calendar of Events gives the date for both remote proctored phases: 28 July 2026 for Phase 4 and 28 August 2026 for Phase 5. The Phase 1 and Phase 2 blocks on the same calendar list only the application dates and the examination window, with no admit card date given.

Conduct in the examination is governed by a short and blunt notice. KIIT's grounds for dismissal page treats any conversation, gesticulation or disturbance as misbehaviour, and says that a candidate found using unfair means or impersonating will have their candidature cancelled and will be debarred from the examination. The notice is worded for an examination hall, and the last two phases of the 2026 cycle were not held in one.

Structure

Exam pattern

The paper you write is set by your programme, and KIIT's tie breaking rules give the clearest published view of what is inside each one. The KIITEE evaluation and declaration of results resolves equal marks for B.Tech and B.Design on Mathematics and then Physics, for B.Tech lateral entry on Mathematics and then Basic Electrical Engineering, for B.Sc Nursing on Biology and then Chemistry, for the shared BBA, BCA, law, design and journalism paper on Mathematical Ability, then Analytical Ability, then English, for MCA on Computer Awareness and then Mathematics, and for M.Sc Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology on Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Where those subjects still leave two candidates level, the older of them is placed ahead. B.Arch sits outside that pattern altogether: its tie break runs on NATA marks, not on anything KIITEE asks.

The doctoral paper is built differently again. The KIITEE sample question papers page publishes a Ph.D Part 2 for each discipline, including Electrical, Civil, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, Biotechnology, Economics, Law, Management, Rural Management and Sociology, so what a research applicant faces is keyed to the discipline applied in, and Part 2 is the part KIIT shows.

The KIITEE 2026 pages covering the syllabus, the sample papers, the calendar and the evaluation rules do not state how long any paper runs.

What to study

Syllabus

Beyond the school level science the B.Tech paper draws on, the KIITEE 2026 test syllabus page is worth reading for how it pairs programmes. One syllabus covers B.Tech and B.Sc Computer Science, another covers MCA and M.Sc Computer Science, and a third covers M.Sc Biotechnology and M.Sc Microbiology together.

The LL.M paper is the one postgraduate syllabus published there as a plain subject list: Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Law of Torts, Law of Contracts, Company Law, Environmental Law, Public International Law and Family Law.

How to prepare

Preparation and books

KIIT publishes sample question papers for each paper group, including B.Tech, B.Tech lateral entry, B.Sc Nursing, the biotechnology paper, M.Tech, MCA, the M.Sc biotechnology and microbiology paper, and the shared paper for the integrated law degrees, BBA, BCA and the design programmes. Those are the practice materials the conducting body itself publishes, one set per paper group rather than one set for the exam.

Exam centres

The centre list KIIT keeps online is headed for KIITEE 2025 and has not been re headed for the 2026 cycle. It names city centres across the country, from Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Dimapur, Imphal and Shillong in the north east, alongside the metros and a spread of Odisha towns such as Angul, Baripada, Bhawanipatna, Keonjhar and Koraput, as the KIITEE examination centre list shows.

By the end of the 2026 cycle that list had stopped deciding where anyone sat. KIIT headed both Phase 4 and Phase 5 as remote proctor mode in its KIITEE 2026 Calendar of Events, and a notice on the KIITEE admission home page said Phase 5 would be conducted exclusively in that mode, so the centre list did not apply to it.

After the exam

Answer key

The KIITEE 2026 admission site publishes no answer key. The pages that cover what happens after the paper, the KIITEE evaluation and declaration of results and the KIITEE merit and rank list publishing, describe marks, cut off marks, merit lists and rank cards. Neither mentions a key being released, and neither opens a window in which a candidate could contest a question.

Scores

Result and scorecard

Results are published on the university websites, and the KIITEE evaluation and declaration of results says a candidate sees their own by entering the application number and then downloads the rank card from the site. KIIT prepares a separate merit list for each programme, and the reservation of seats page adds a separate merit list for each category, which is why a rank is only meaningful next to the course and category it was awarded in.

Where a programme takes applicants through more than one route, the result surfaces in more than one place. KIIT School of Management, for instance, posted the KIITEE 2026 Phase 1 and Phase 2 results on its own KIIT School of Management MBA application page for candidates who had applied to the MBA through KIITEE.

Scores you need

Cutoff

No closing rank for any course, in any phase, appears anywhere on the KIITEE 2026 admission site. What it does publish is the mechanism, in the KIITEE evaluation and declaration of results: a cut off qualifying mark is fixed by the university at the time the entrance result is declared, and a cut off rank for counselling is notified according to the seats available in each course, with candidates above that rank called for counselling.

The one rank number KIIT does put in public decides a fee waiver, not a seat. The KIIT scholarships and fellowships page describes the KIITEE Merit Scholarship as free education for the topper of KIITEE 2025 in the four year B.Tech, and a scholarship for the top 1000 rank holders during their study period, subject to 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together. That page still names the 2025 cycle. It is also worth reading next to the notice on the KIITEE admission home page, which states that candidates appearing in the KIITEE 2026 Phase 5 examination through remote proctor mode will not be eligible for any scholarship under the KIITEE Scholarship Scheme, so the phase a candidate chose changed what a good rank was worth.

Getting a seat

Counselling and seat allotment

Counselling and seat allocation run purely on the entrance examination result, and the counselling and seat allotment page says counselling stops as soon as all the seats reserved for KIITEE 2026 are filled. Candidates carry original documents for verification on the day, and that page's list is specific: the admit card and rank card, the 10th and 12th mark sheets and pass certificates, graduation documents for MCA and the M.Sc biotechnology programmes, the diploma certificate and three years of mark sheets for lateral entry, the degree certificate for M.Tech, LL.M and Ph.D candidates, a GATE score card where the candidate is GATE qualified, and the reservation certificate where a category is claimed.

The schedules themselves are published per phase and per programme group on the KIITEE 2026 counselling schedule page, with separate documents for B.Tech, for B.Tech lateral entry, for undergraduate courses and for postgraduate courses, alongside a common counselling procedure document for the cycle.

Where it is accepted

Participating institutes

KIITEE feeds one university and no consortium sits behind it. KIIT states on the KIITEE admission home page that it operates exclusively from its permanent campus in Bhubaneswar, with no other campuses elsewhere.

Inside KIIT, the boundary is worth mapping, because the university runs more than one entrance test. The two year MBA does not appear on the KIITEE 2026 eligibility criteria at all, which carry MBA-IEV but no entry for it. The KIIT School of Management MBA application page lists three application routes for it: a valid CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT or GMAT score, an application through KIITEE, or KIITEE Management, which it describes as a separate national level examination of its own conducted across 16 cities in India. The KIIT School of Rural Management MBA application page describes the same examination as its own, serving its MBA in Rural Management and Agribusiness Management as well as the KSOM MBA, and puts it at 15 cities. So the same test, in the same cycle, is claimed by two KIIT schools and given two different city counts.

The School of Law has moved in the other direction. For the 2025 cycle it ran its own test, KIITEE Law, published as a separate bulletin with 120 questions in 90 minutes, no negative marking, and marks weighted across competence in English language, analytical and logical competence, current affairs and general knowledge, legal aptitude and quantitative aptitude, per the KIITEE Law 2025 admission bulletin. Its current School of Law admission page sends applicants to KIITEE instead and calls the KIITEE portal the authoritative source for the cycle.
