Cochin University of Science and Technology Common Admission Test

CUSAT CAT is the Common Admission Test run by Cochin University of Science and Technology, the state science and technology university at Kochi, Kerala. The university opened in 1971 as the University of Cochin and took its present name in 1986. Its Directorate of Admissions conducts the test as the standard entrance route into the university's degree programmes.

Admission to most undergraduate and postgraduate courses at CUSAT runs through this test. At the undergraduate level it covers the four-year B.Tech programmes, which need a Class 12 pass in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, along with the integrated M.Sc. streams and the university's law degrees. Postgraduate seats in MBA, MCA, M.Sc. and LL.M. are filled through separate CAT papers, each set against the qualifying degree that programme expects.

The paper is an online computer-based test, and candidates apply from across India rather than Kerala alone. The seats are in CUSAT's own schools and departments across its Kochi campuses at Thrikkakara and Lakeside and its Pulincunnu campus at Kuttanad in Alappuzha. Affiliated and recognised institutions admit on the same result.
