About AP EAPCET

A qualifying AP EAPCET rank is not a seat, and the office that issues the rank is not the office that hands one out. The Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test is set and run by JNT University Kakinada for the state's higher education council, and then the university's own instruction booklet steps back from what happens next: "The Convener (Examination), AP EAPCET 2026 is not responsible for the allotment of seats at the time of admissions. The Commissioner of Technical Education, Andhra Pradesh is the Convener for the Admissions," reads the AP EAPCET 2026 Engineering instruction booklet. Some of the course families the same test qualifies a candidate for are admitted by neither of those offices.

AP EAPCET is one test with two categories running under it, and the categories are not a clean division of the course list. The "E" category route set out in the Engineering instruction booklet covers Engineering, B.Pharmacy (M.P.C.), Pharm.D, B.Tech. (Dairy Technology), B.Tech. (Agr. Engineering), B.Tech. (Food Science and Technology) and B.Sc. (Agriculture Engg). The "AP" category route in the Agriculture and Pharmacy instruction booklet covers B.Sc. (Ag.), B.Sc. (Hort.), B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc., B.Tech. (FST), B.Sc. (CA&BM), B.Pharm, B.Tech. (Bio-Technology) and Pharm-D. B.Pharmacy, Pharm.D and the food-technology B.Tech. appear on both lists, reachable from either paper.

Each category carries its own booklet, its own examination dates and its own syllabus annexure. A candidate eligible for both is told by the Agriculture and Pharmacy booklet to select the combined "Both (E & AP Category)" option while submitting the application, so that one test centre is allotted for the two papers.

JNTUK's run at the job has gaps in it, and the university says so itself. The AP EAPCET about page claims a "track record of successfully conducting APEAMCET/APEAPCET for seven years consecutively, from 2015 to 2021, 2024 and 2025", and in the same sentence records "APECET during 2013-14, 2022 and 2023", which is where the two missing years went. The same page names Prof. CSRK Prasad as Chairman and Prof. N. Mohan Rao as Convener of the 2026 cycle.

Important dates

The examination is over and the admission is not, so the 2026 cycle has to be read as two calendars rather than one. The papers were written across May 2026 and the rank card download went live on the exam site, while the convener's closing counselling phase is dated into the second half of September 2026. What follows is the schedule the instruction booklet printed, not a live status board.

Three of those rows read differently on the conducting body's own website. The AP EAPCET 2026 important dates page dates the notification 03-02-2026 rather than 04-02-2026, puts the preliminary key at 25-05-2026 at 11 a.m. and the objection deadline at 27-05-2026 at 11 a.m., and has never filled the result row, which still reads "Will be updated soon" though the rank card download is live. Neither document has been withdrawn, so both stand as official. Where a date decides money or travel, take the later of the two and confirm it at the source.

Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

Three conditions apply to every applicant in both categories, per the Engineering instruction booklet: Indian nationality or a PIO or OCI card, candidature belonging to the State of Andhra Pradesh with local or non-local status settled under the Government of Andhra Pradesh orders for 2026-27, and at least 45% in the specified subjects taken together in the qualifying examination, relaxed to 40% for a reserved-category candidate.

The subject routes then split by course. For the whole of the E-category list, the same booklet gives two alternatives. One is Intermediate (10+2) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, or a related vocational course in engineering and technology taken with the bridge course, from the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh or an examination recognised as equivalent. The other is a Diploma in Engineering from the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Andhra Pradesh or an equivalent. Candidates awaiting the result of either may apply, and the rank becomes valid only on passing. For the agriculture-side B.Tech. and B.Sc. courses in that list, the Engineering booklet adds an age bar of 17 years completed as on 31st December of the year of admission, an upper limit of 22 years, and 25 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. Pharm.D is handled in a clause of its own on this side: Intermediate (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and 17 years of age as of 31st December of the year of admission.

The AP category carries its own set, in the Agriculture and Pharmacy booklet. B.Sc. (Ag), B.Sc. (Hort), B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc. and B.Tech. (FS&T) each accept Intermediate with any two of a named group, which runs to Physical Sciences, Biological or Natural Sciences, Agriculture and a vocational course in agriculture, veterinary science or fishery science depending on the course, and every candidate for them must sit Biology, Physics and Chemistry in the test whatever was studied at school. The same age bar the Engineering booklet sets applies to that group here too: 17 years completed as of 31st December of the year of admission, an upper limit of 22 years, and 25 years for SC and ST candidates. B.Tech. (Bio-Technology) on this side wants Intermediate with Biology, Physics and Chemistry. B.Pharmacy needs the same combination, 16 years of age by the date admissions commence, and carries no upper age limit. Pharm.D on this side accepts either that Intermediate combination or a pass or final-year appearance in the diploma in pharmacy of the Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education and Training, with a minimum age of 17 years, a maximum of 35 years, a relaxation of 3 years for SC, ST and BC candidates and of 5 years for disabled candidates.

Step by step

Application process and fee

Money comes before the form. "Payment of Registration Fee for submission of Online Application Form is the first step," states the Engineering instruction booklet, and the fee is Rs.800 for the open category, Rs.750 for BC candidates and Rs.700 for SC and ST candidates.

The booklet lists what to have open before starting: the qualifying examination hall ticket number, the SSC hall ticket number, date of birth, a caste certificate for SC, ST and BC candidates, the Aadhaar number, PH, NCC and sports details, an income certificate banded as up to one lakh, up to two lakhs or more than two lakhs, a ration card, and a study or residence certificate covering the last 12 years as proof of local status. One application per candidate is the rule, for "E" or "AP" or "E&AP", and filing more than one for the same category lets the Convener reject all of them. The printed form is not a souvenir either: it carries a recent colour photograph attested by a gazetted officer or by the principal of the college where the candidate studied, and is handed to the invigilator at the examination.

Corrections split into two classes in the AP EAPCET 2026 corrections notice. Name, father's name, date of birth, signature, photograph, examination stream, qualifying exam hall ticket number and community certificate cannot be touched by the candidate and need a written request to the Convener with documents attached. Mother's name, gender, local area status, medium of instruction, place of study, parental income, special category, Aadhaar and ration card details and the rest were candidate-editable, but only between 11-04-2026 and 13-04-2026, and the notice adds that afterwards they "will not be entertained in any form either at Test Centers or Convener, AP EAPCET-2026 office".

Before the exam

Admit card and exam day

Hall tickets opened on 28-04-2026, downloadable from the exam website and, unusually for an Indian entrance test, "also through Mana Mitra (WhatsApp Governance) of AP", per the Engineering instruction booklet. Nobody chooses their slot. The booklet is explicit that a candidate "does not have the option of choosing a specific date/session" and learns it only after downloading the hall ticket, and that failing to appear in the given slot counts as absent.

The door rules are strict enough to rehearse. The booklet tells candidates to reach the centre 2 hours before the start, closes the registration desk 05 minutes before the examination, bars entry once the test commences "even if they are late by one minute", and keeps everyone in the hall until the end. Carry the hall ticket, the filled-in online application form, a ball point pen and, for SC and ST candidates only, an attested copy of the caste certificate, plus one photo identity document from the Intermediate hall ticket, passport, PAN card, voter ID, Aadhaar card or driving licence. Calculators, DocuPen, slide rules, log tables, electronic watches with a calculator, written material, mobile phones and pagers all count as unfair means, which cancels the current examination and debars the candidate from future ones.

Structure

Exam pattern

Both papers run a total of 160 questions in a duration of 3 hours, every question of equal weightage with one correct response out of four responses given, per the AP EAPCET 2026 important instructions. The split differs by category, and the same notice sets both out: 80 questions in Mathematics, 40 questions in Physics and 40 questions in Chemistry for the Engineering Stream, and 80 questions in Biology (Botany 40, Zoology 40), 40 questions in Physics and 40 questions in Chemistry for the Agriculture and Pharmacy Stream. It is also where the scoring rule is stated without hedging: "There is no negative marking and No deduction from the total score will be made if no response is indicated for a question."

Sessions run 09.00 AM to 12:00 Noon and 02.00 PM to 05.00 PM, per the AP EAPCET 2026 computer-based-test FAQ, and the duration is marked mandatory there.

Questions appear in English and Telugu only, and where the Telugu wording is ambiguous the English version is taken as final. Urdu-medium candidates who want translation assistance are allotted a test centre at Kurnool, and only Kurnool, under the Engineering booklet.

On the screen itself the FAQ documents what a candidate can expect: login credentials announced 15 min before the test starts, zoom buttons that resize the question text, a question palette that turns a number green once an answer is saved, evaluation covering both saved answers and those marked for review after answering, free movement between subjects and questions, a full question-paper view, and a countdown timer. If a machine fails, the invigilator moves the candidate to another system, and the FAQ promises the timer restarts at the same point with answered and marked questions intact.

What to study

Syllabus

Each category has a separate syllabus document rather than a shared one, published both as Annexure-I inside the relevant instruction booklet and as a standalone PDF on the exam site. The Engineering annexure runs Mathematics across algebra, trigonometry, vector algebra, measures of dispersion and probability, coordinate geometry and calculus, with Physics and Chemistry following, all drawn from the Andhra Pradesh Intermediate course. The Agriculture and Pharmacy annexure replaces Mathematics with Botany and Zoology.

One line in the annexure matters more than it looks: "The syllabus is applicable to students of both the current and previous batches of Intermediate Course, who desire to appear for AP EAPCET-2026." A repeater working from an older Intermediate book is not reading a lapsed syllabus.

How to prepare

Preparation and books

The only practice the conducting body puts its own name to is a pair of mock tests, one per stream, sitting behind their own menu item on the exam website. The Engineering booklet says why they are there: "for practice purposes and to give the candidate a look and feel of the On-Line (Computer Based) Examination". Behind them sits a set of model questions, printed as Annexure-II of each booklet. No reading list and no coaching course is named in either.

One textbook does get named, and only on the Agriculture and Pharmacy side. The Zoology syllabus in that booklet sets Earthworm under Annelida and Frog under Amphibia as type studies "adhering to NCERT text book", which pins the depth expected for those two animals to a named book rather than leaving it to whatever a candidate's notes assume.

Where it is held

Exam centres

The regional-centre table in both booklets is organised district by district. The Engineering booklet lists Anantapur, Gooty and Tadipatri in Anantapur district, Rajahmundry in East Godavari, Kakinada and Surampalem in Kakinada district, Vijayawada and Mylavaram in NTR, Kurnool, Adoni and Yemmiganur in Kurnool district, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Rajam in the north, Bhimavaram, Narasapuram and Tadepalligudem in West Godavari, and ends with a centre in Hyderabad, outside the state.

Two of the notes printed under that table in the Engineering booklet are about the centre itself. The Convener "reserves the right to add or delete some online Test Centers from the list of Regional Centers notified", and equally "the right to allot the candidates to any online Test Centre other than that opted by the candidates", so an opted centre is a preference and not a booking. A candidate sitting both papers who does not tick the combined option may also be sent to different centres for the two, with the booklet saying in terms that the Convener "is not responsible for the allotment of different centers". The route map to the allotted centre travels with the hall ticket.

After the exam

Answer key

The papers came out with the key, one session at a time. The master question papers and preliminary keys page carries a separate download for the forenoon and afternoon sessions of 12 May 2026, 13 May 2026, 14 May 2026, 15 May 2026 and 18 May 2026 on the Engineering side, and of 19 May 2026 and 20 May 2026 for Agriculture and Pharmacy. A candidate can therefore read the exact paper they sat rather than a reconstruction of it. Candidate response sheets, a "My Objections" view and an objection payment status check sit with the result and rank card links on the exam site's home page, not in the site menu.

Disagreeing with the key is priced by the question. An objection costs Rs. 300 for each one challenged and is refundable only where the objection is upheld, and the Engineering instruction booklet shuts the door behind the committee: "The decision of the committee on validity of the objection is final and no further correspondence is entertained." The date of the key itself was never reconciled: the booklet schedules it for 23-05-2026, and the exam site's important dates page for 25-05-2026 at 11 a.m.

Scores

Result and scorecard

The rank is not the score. Candidates are ranked on a combined figure giving 75% weightage to normalised AP EAPCET marks and 25% weightage to marks in the relevant Intermediate group subjects, per the Engineering instruction booklet. The rank card itself comes off the exam site's own rank card page, which asks for a registration number, an EAPCET hall ticket number and a date of birth.

Normalisation is the step the instruction booklets hand off to a separate document. Because the paper differs from session to session, the AP EAPCET 2026 normalisation procedure rescales each candidate's subject marks against the average plus standard deviation of their own session, the same figure across all sessions together, the average of the top 0.1% in their session, and the average of the top 0.1% globally. Where a qualified candidate's normalised mark in a subject comes out negative it is treated as zero, though all three subjects still total as EAPCET marks. This document is also where the booklets contradict themselves: Annexure-IV inside both instruction booklets says the procedure "is under review" and will be placed on the website later, while the standalone procedure gives the working formula and the computer-based-test FAQ says the procedure adopted from AP EAPCET-2017 onward is being continued.

Qualifying is a separate hurdle from ranking. The booklet sets the qualifying percentage at 25% of the maximum marks considered for ranking, prescribes no minimum for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, and limits their admission to the seats reserved for those categories under G.O.Ms. No. 179, LEN&TE, dated 16.06.1986. Ties break on total EAPCET marks, then on Mathematics in the Engineering category or Biology in the Agriculture and Pharmacy category, then on Physics, and finally in favour of the older candidate. The ranking annexure in the Agriculture and Pharmacy booklet leaves a loose thread there: it sets the 25% weightage against the qualifying examination's "Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry", the Engineering group, while its own tie-break for the same category reads Biology. The rank holds only for the courses named in the application form and only for the academic year 2026-2027.

Scores you need

Cutoff

Two offices stand behind AP EAPCET and only one of them prints a number before the test. The exam side sets a qualifying percentage of 25% of the maximum marks considered for ranking, in the instruction booklet, and that number says nothing at all about how high a rank any particular course will need. The number candidates actually chase comes later and from the other office, as the last rank admitted in each college, branch and category once allotment is done, issued as a per-cycle sheet, college by college and branch by branch: the APEAPCET-2023 last rank details on the higher education council's own site and the APEAPCET-2025 admissions last rank details on the admissions portal are the two most recent of them. Those sheets record what happened rather than what will, so a rank that cleared a branch in one cycle carries no claim on the next, and anything circulating before allotment is a forecast rather than a cutoff.

Getting a seat

Counselling and seat allotment

This is where AP EAPCET stops being one process. Web counselling for engineering and pharmacy seats is run by the Convener, APEAPCET-2026 Admissions, out of an office at Mangalagiri in Guntur district, and the third and final phase notification for the M.P.C. stream is signed "CONVENOR & DTE", not by JNTUK. It runs on the state's Common Admission Portal at cap.apcfss.in, where one user name and password serve every CET a candidate qualifies for, so nobody registers twice.

The same notification puts the processing fee for web counselling at Rs.1250 for OC and BC candidates and Rs. 650 for SC and ST candidates, paid once and not again in a later phase, and sets the Help Line Centres, a list of polytechnics running from Srikakulam in the north to Kurnool and Kadapa in the south, to work from 09.00 a.m. to 06.00 p.m. The stages, in order, are registration and fee payment, uploading certificates, online verification of those uploads by officers at a chosen Help Line Centre, web options, a single day to change them, allotment, and then both self-reporting and physical reporting at the college. Candidates are told not to visit a Help Line Centre at all unless the online verification goes wrong, and the notification is blunt that one form of reporting is not enough: "Both stages of reporting are mandatory," it says, and a candidate who uses only one of them forfeits any claim to a further seat.

The phase schedules then diverge by stream. The first phase revised schedule opened registration on 20.07.2026 and ran it to 01.08.2026, with web options from 25.07.2026 to 03.08.2026, a change day on 04.08.2026, allotment on 09.08.2026 and reporting from 10.08.2026 to 15.08.2026. A further phase sat between that one and the last, which the M.P.C. notification refers to only as the earlier phase or phases. The M.P.C. third and final phase schedules registration from 09.09.2026 to 11.09.2026, options to 12.09.2026, changes on 13.09.2026, allotment on 16.09.2026 after 6.00 p.m. and reporting from 16.09.2026 to 19.09.2026. The Bi.P.C. final phase notification keeps the same opening dates but runs option entry to 20.09.2026 in its schedule, freezes options on 21.09.2026 at 10:00 p.m., allots on 23.09.2026 and takes reporting from 24.09.2026 to 26.09.2026. Options exercised in an earlier phase are not carried forward in either stream and have to be entered afresh.

That Bi.P.C. document also argues with itself. Its opening paragraph says option entry runs "from 09-09-2026 to 12-09-2026" while its own schedule table immediately below gives 20.09.2026, and it addresses qualified candidates "of APEAPCET-2024(Bi.P.C Stream) who have participated in first phase Counseling", a stream-and-year label left over from an older cycle, in the Bi.P.C. final phase notification.

Reservation is where a rank meets geography. Under the local and non-local reservation order, G.O.MS.No. 20 of the Higher Education (EC) Department dated 12-05-2025, "Admission to 85% of the seats in each course shall be reserved for the local candidates of Andhra Pradesh. The remaining 15% of the seats shall be un-reserved seats for the candidates of local/non local areas." The state splits into an Andhra University local area and a Sri Venkateswara University local area, and localness is earned by four consecutive academic years of study in the area, or by seven consecutive academic years of study in the state, or by residence on those same clocks. The unreserved slice is open to candidates local to both areas, to candidates or parents resident in the state for a total period of 10 years, and to children and spouses of state and central government employees within the state. For the state-wide universities the order names, the reserved share is split between the two regions in the ratio 65.62 and 34.38. The order is published on the 2026 exam site as the applicable rule, yet its own text limits it to "the academic year 2025-26 only" as "a temporary measure". Layered on top, the M.P.C. notification applies 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections under G.O.Ms.No. 65 of the General Administration (SER.D) Department dated 14-07-2021, and the Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes (Sub-classification) Rules, 2025, published on the exam site itself as G.O.MS.No. 7 of the Social Welfare (CV) Department, dated 18-04-2025.

Then there are the courses this convener does not touch. The Bi.P.C. notification's own list stops at B.Tech. in Bio-Technology, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and Pharmaceutical Engineering, plus B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D. B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture is not on it. Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University admits to that degree itself, alongside B.Tech. (Food Technology) seats of its own in the Bi.P.C. stream under the farmer and non-farmer quotas, and lists both on its own ANGRAU admissions page. B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture belongs to Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, whose UG information brochure for 2026-27 says counselling for B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture and B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry at its constituent and affiliated colleges runs "through AP EAPCET rank 2026", on a registration window of its own that opened 24-07-2026 and closed 10-08-2026. B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry is not named on either instruction booklet's course list at all. B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc. and B.Sc. (CA&BM) are on the test's course list and on neither convener's stream list. One rank, more than one set of doors, and more than one set of deadlines to miss.

Where it is accepted

Participating institutes

The exam side of this test never publishes the institution list itself. The Engineering instruction booklet says the list of institutions for allotment, with the intake in each discipline and category, "would be released in the Information Booklet for Counseling in due course" and on the exam website, which hands the question straight to the admissions convener.

Seats filled through this counselling sit under the convener quota in three kinds of institution on the engineering side, university colleges, private universities and private colleges, and on the Bi.P.C. side in university and private engineering colleges, private universities, and university and private pharmacy colleges. Allotments carry a standing condition that they are "subject to the grant of affiliation from the University", per the M.P.C. stream notification, so a course appearing in the option list is not proof the affiliation is signed.

One category deserves attention before options are entered. A public notice from the admissions convener states that the courses at JNTUK College of Engineering Kakinada, S.V.U. College of Engineering Tirupathi and JNTUA College of Engineering Anantapuramu listed there are self-supporting rather than self-finance courses, and that there is no fee reimbursement for them, by decision of the universities concerned.
