About the exam

About BVP CET

There is no single BVP CET paper and no single BVP CET date. Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune publishes one entrance test schedule for its undergraduate programmes and another for its postgraduate programmes, and every row on them carries a different test code, a different last date to apply and a different exam date. B.Tech applicants register for BV-BTECH-2026, MBA and MCA applicants for BMAT-2026, BBA and BCA applicants for BUMAT-2026, and the five year law degrees for BV-LAWUG-2026. Which code you pick decides how long you sit, how many questions you answer, what they are about and what you pay.

BVP CET is the umbrella name for the entrance tests Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune conducts for admission to its own institutes. The obligation is absolute, and it is written the same way at the head of the 2026-27 entrance test details documents for engineering, management and law: a candidate who aspires to join any of the undergraduate or postgraduate programmes offered by the institutes of the university shall have to compulsorily appear for the entrance test conducted by the university, per the B.Tech entrance test details for 2026-27.

What that obligation does not mean is one paper. The university's own undergraduate entrance test schedule for 2026-27 runs from B.Tech and B.Pharm through nursing, optometry, physiotherapy, hotel management, law, visual arts, social work and interior design, and gives each its own examination name. The postgraduate schedule does the same for M.Tech, M.Pharm, LL.M, MSW, M.Optom, the nursing and biotechnology masters and the environment programmes.

Some applicants never sit a Bharati Vidyapeeth written paper at all. B.Arch candidates appear for NATA 2026 and M.Arch (Sustainable) candidates for PGETA 2026, with the admission rounds scheduled by those bodies rather than by the university. The photography, cinematography and filmmaking degrees replace the written test with an online personal interview and portfolio assessment, and take applications in the third week of every month, as both schedules record. The Bachelor of Visual Arts (Applied Arts) keeps a code of its own but is assessed by an interview and a drawing test rather than by a written paper, in the undergraduate schedule.

Important dates

The undergraduate schedule for 2026-27 sets a last date, an exam date, a result date and a counselling date against each test code, and the main rounds it fixed fall in June and July, in the undergraduate CET schedule. These are its rows for B.Tech, for BBA and BCA, and for the two law routes.

On the postgraduate side its counterpart sets the exam date for M.Tech at 21st June 2026 and for M.Sc. Nursing at 28th June 2026, gives LL.M a written test on 26th July 2026 followed by a group discussion and interview on 27th July 2026, and puts M.Pharm on 26th July 2026, in the postgraduate CET schedule. Against MBA and MCA that schedule prints no dates at all, only the line "Against vacant seats at institute level".

Those two schedules are not the whole of the cycle. The university's scheduled entrance tests page carries later dates against other codes: a last date of 15/09/2026 against MBA, MCA, B. Visual Arts and a second BBA and BCA round filled against vacant seats, and 29/09/2026 against M.Arch under PGETA Round 2 and B.Sc. Sustainable Interior Design. The exam dates printed beside them are 21/09/2026 for B. Visual Arts, 29/09/2026 for M.Optometry and B.Optom Lateral Entry, and 30/09/2026 for the other two.

Read the page carefully rather than trusting any single row on it, because it keeps rows past their own dates. M.A. Cinematography sits there with a last date to apply of 28/08/2025 against an exam date of 31/08/2026, an application deadline printed a full year before its own test.

One further note for anyone comparing schedules. The two official sites do not serve the same revision. The copy of the undergraduate schedule still linked from the CET platform gives B.Pharm and Pharm.D counselling on 15th to 16th July 2026. The copy linked from the main university site gives the same programme 22nd and 23rd July 2026. The same split runs through the postgraduate schedules, where the older copy still shows MBA and MCA in the ordinary rounds and the newer one has moved them to vacant seats at institute level. Take the version on bvuniversity.edu.in as the later one and check the portal row for the code you are applying under.

Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

Each code has its own bar, and the engineering one has three separate qualifying routes. For BV-BTECH-2026 a candidate may qualify by having passed HSC or an equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, a technical vocational subject, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies or Entrepreneurship, with at least 45% marks taken together, or 40% for candidates of the SC and ST categories and Persons with Disability. The second route is a diploma of minimum 3 years, or 2 years by lateral entry, with at least 45% marks, or 40% for candidates of the SC and ST categories. The third is a three year D.Voc. in the same or allied sector. For Civil, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, candidates who studied and passed Chemistry are given preference, per the B.Tech entrance test details.

Two carve-outs sit alongside those routes in the same document. Fifteen percent of the sanctioned intake in each branch is reserved for the Foreign, NRI, PIO, OCI and Institutional Quota Merit category, which applies separately to the Registrar on a prescribed form carrying a fee of Rs. 1,000, with a last date of 5th June 2026 before 5 p.m. Wards of Kashmiri migrants and of Kashmiri Pandit and Kashmiri Hindu families living in the valley get a relaxation in cut-off percentage of up to 10% subject to minimum eligibility, an increase in intake capacity of up to 5% course-wise, and at least one reserved seat in the merit quota, with the domicile requirement waived for migrants but not for non-migrants, in the same document's notes on reserved seats.

The same brochure contradicts itself on the optional subject. Section 3 offers a long optional subject set alongside Physics and Mathematics, running from Chemistry and Biology through Computer Science and Informatics Practices to Business Studies and Entrepreneurship. Annexure III, the declaration a candidate signs at counselling, narrows that to Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject and adds a condition Section 3 never states, that the candidate has "also Passed in the subject of English". A candidate admitted on Computer Science or Business Studies under Section 3 cannot sign Annexure III as printed.

The management and law bars are different again. BMAT-2026 asks for a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years after 10+2 with at least 50% marks, or 45% for SC and ST candidates, and final year students of a bachelor's or master's degree may apply, per the MBA entrance test details. The MCA route through the same test accepts a BCA, B.Sc. in Computer Science or IT, or a B.E. or B.Tech in CSE or IT, or any graduation degree preferably with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level on the same marks bar, with a compulsory bridge course for candidates from a non-Mathematics background, per the MCA document. BUMAT-2026 asks only for a pass in HSC or an equivalent examination from a statutory board situated in India, and lets candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination apply, per the BBA and BCA document. The MBA, MCA and BBA and BCA documents then close on one common date: the certificates in original have to be submitted to the institute by 30th September 2026, and an admission for which they are not stands cancelled automatically.

The two law tests on the undergraduate schedule take their marks bar from outside the university. B.A. LL.B. requires a 10+2 pass with 45% of total marks, or 40% for SC and ST applicants, as prescribed by the Bar Council of India's Rules of Legal Education 2008, per the B.A. LL.B. document, and the three year LL.B. applies the same percentages to a bachelor's degree, per the LL.B. document.

Step by step

Application process and fee

The application runs through one portal, whatever the code. A candidate creates login credentials at the university's CET platform, keeps a scanned passport size photograph and signature ready, fills the form and pays the test fee by credit card, debit card, internet banking or UPI. The portal's programme level filter also carries Ph.D. Exempted and Non Exempted forms alongside the undergraduate and postgraduate ones. Nothing can be changed afterwards: the university states that it does not edit, modify or alter any information entered at the time of online application under any circumstances, and that an application once finally submitted cannot be withdrawn or modified. The fee is not refunded in any circumstance, and a candidate who does not turn up forfeits it.

The fee is set per test, not per brand.

The entrance test details documents agree with the portal. B.Tech sets its entrance test fee at Rs. 2,000, in the B.Tech document's fee section, and so does the MBA route through BMAT, in the MBA document. The BBA and BCA test charges Rs. 1,500, in the BBA and BCA document, and both law tests charge the same, in the B.A. LL.B. document. One further fee sits outside all of this: the separate Foreign, NRI, PIO, OCI and Institutional Quota form carries its own charge of Rs. 1,000, per the B.Tech document's note on that category.

Before the exam

Admit card and exam day

Admit cards are issued three to four days before the test date and must be downloaded and printed from the official website after logging in with the credentials sent to the registered email address, per the B.Tech document's admit card instructions. Timings and the centre address are communicated only on the admit card, not at the time of application.

Two things have to go with the candidate. The printed admit card, and an original, valid, non-expired photo identity document, which the university limits to an Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, voter ID or passport, with the name matching the admit card. A soft copy of the ID is refused. Candidates must reach the centre at least one and a half hours before the test starts, and nobody is allowed in after the scheduled commencement time.

The prohibition list reaches well past the obvious. Mobile phones, calculators, watch calculators, digital watches with built-in memory, log tables, pagers, digital diaries, smartwatches, fitness bands and similar wearable technology are all barred from the hall, and so are earrings, finger rings, bangles, pendants, nose pins, chains, wallets and sunglasses. Candidates are asked to remove their jackets and footwear before entering the test hall. Rough sheets are supplied during the test and must be handed back before leaving.

Structure

Exam pattern

One rule runs through all of them: four alternatives per question, one mark for a correct answer, and no negative marking for a wrong or unanswered question. Past that, the code decides everything.

The university sets BV-BTECH-2026 at 200 marks and 200 questions, split as 80 questions on Mathematics, 60 on Physics and 60 on Chemistry, over a duration of 3 hours, in the B.Tech entrance test details.

BMAT-2026 is a 200 mark paper of 180 minutes, built as Numerical Ability 50, Logical Reasoning 50, English and Comprehension 50 and Management Skills 50 for the MBA, per the MBA document. The MCA version of the same test keeps the first three blocks and swaps the fourth for Computer Awareness 50, per the MCA document. BUMAT-2026 runs to 200 marks in 150 minutes, as Numerical Aptitude 60, Reasoning and Logical Aptitude 60, Verbal Ability 60 and Reading Comprehension 20, per the BBA and BCA document. The two law papers are half that size: 100 marks in 2 hours, as four equal blocks of 25 covering English grammar and comprehension, legal aptitude with analytical ability and logical reasoning, current legal news and general knowledge, and social sciences with an emphasis on the Indian Constitution, per the B.A. LL.B. document and in the same terms in the three year LL.B. document.

The test is delivered on screen one question at a time, with a Section Wise Summary Report down the left that a candidate can jump around in, a bookmark facility for questions worth a second look, the remaining time in the top right corner of the paper, and an automatic submission of whatever has been saved once that time expires, in the B.Tech document's instructions for the objective test.

What to study

Syllabus

The university publishes separate syllabus documents by programme rather than one for the brand, and they sit together on its CET syllabus page, covering B.Tech, B.Tech second year, M.Tech, MBA with MHA and MCA, BBA with BCA and B.Com, LL.M, the pharmacy tests, the nursing tests, BASLP, biotechnology, MSW and B.Optometry lateral entry.

The engineering document is headed "RECOMMENDED SYLLABUS FOR CET" and is built strictly out of school syllabus. It sets out Class XI Mathematics in two parts, Class XII Mathematics and Statistics in two papers, and Class XI and Class XII Physics and Chemistry, in the B.Tech CET syllabus. Topics are listed to a fine grain, down to named theorems and formulae. Both undergraduate law documents send a candidate to that page for the detailed syllabus while describing their own questions as general in nature, and the law entry waiting there is the LL.M syllabus.

How to prepare

Preparation and books

Practice here is tied to the admit card. A mock test is made available on the bvuniversity.edu.in website for practice for all candidates who have been issued admit cards for the exam, listed among the B.Tech document's exam hall rules, which puts it on the far side of registration: a candidate still deciding whether to apply cannot open it. It sits on the front page of the CET platform, labelled "Practice Test".

Work from the syllabus instead, because that is the one thing the university hands a candidate ahead of the test. Each code has a syllabus document of its own, published alongside the schedules, and between them the mock and those documents are the whole of the preparation material the entrance test details for B.Tech, MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA and the two law tests name.

Where it is held

Exam centres

The centre count is set per test, not per brand. The B.Tech and both law documents put their test in 62 centres across the country, in the B.Tech document's centre table. The MBA, MCA and BBA and BCA documents put theirs in 67, and the cities the longer list adds are Goa, Gulbarga and Vijayapura, plus Pandharpur and Akluj in Maharashtra, as the MBA document's centre table shows. Read the state column with care, because it does not always match the city: the table files Bareily under Chandigarh and Muzaffarpur under Uttar Pradesh.

A centre is a preference, not a guarantee. If the candidate count for a centre is less than 25, the candidate is allocated to the nearest available centre instead, and the university reserves the right to add, delete or change test cities without prior intimation and to allot a city other than the one requested, in the notes printed under that table. Once a centre is selected no change is allowed under any circumstance, and the same rule applies to the examination date.

After the exam

Answer key

Every one of these documents moves the candidate from the paper to the merit list in a single step. The B.Tech, MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA and law entrance test details each set out the nature of the test, then the basis of selection, then the declaration of the result, with nothing in between: the questions never come back for scrutiny, and no route exists by which a candidate could argue one of them was marked wrong. The dispute the university does provide for is about its own rules rather than about a question, and it is settled internally: differences of opinion or ambiguity in interpreting the instructions are referred to the Vice Chancellor, whose decision is final and binding, per the B.Tech document's general instructions.

Anything published later for a particular code would surface on the CET platform, which already carries that code's schedule, its entrance test details and its vacant-seat notices.

Result and scorecard

What comes out of BV-BTECH-2026 is a raw mark and a position in a queue, not a percentile. The merit list is notified on the marks obtained out of 200, one combined list covers every institute, and a separate list is prepared for the Foreign, NRI, PIO, OCI and Institutional Quota Merit category, per the B.Tech document's declaration of result. Nothing in these documents scales that mark, normalises it across sessions or converts it to a percentile. The result is not emailed either: a candidate has to log in at the application portal to see it, and the university states plainly that it is not possible to send individual invitations for counselling.

Ties are broken by rule rather than by draw, at least for engineering. The candidate with higher marks in Mathematics in the entrance test ranks first, then the candidate with the higher aggregate percentage in HSC or equivalent, then the higher percentage in Mathematics in the 10th standard examination, and only if the tie survives all three is a computerised random selection used, in the same document's basis of selection.

One more thing about where results live. The link labelled "CET Results" on both of the university's sites opens the list of scheduled entrance tests, not a results archive. Individual results live behind the candidate's own portal login.

Scores you need

Cutoff

The one threshold the engineering document prints is a position rather than a mark, and it governs when a candidate is called instead of whether they qualify. Candidates from merit number 1 to 3000 should attend counselling on the notified dates, and candidates from merit number 3001 onwards should attend only after confirming the vacancy position on the university's websites, per the B.Tech document's counselling section. Clearing that line admits nobody on its own: the seat still depends on what is vacant in the branch and the institute a candidate has asked for when their turn arrives.

No mark works that way here. The B.Tech, MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA and law entrance test details set no qualifying score and carry no closing mark from an earlier cycle, so a BVP CET cutoff quoted anywhere has not come from them.

Getting a seat

Counselling and seat allotment

Engineering counselling is a same-day, in-person transaction, and a candidate's merit number decides when they are entitled to walk in. After the result the candidate fills a second online form giving branch and institute preferences, then attends on the notified date, where only the candidate and one parent or guardian are allowed into the hall. Failure to report on the scheduled date and time results in instantaneous cancellation of the candidate's claim to a seat. Documents listed in Annexure I have to be produced in original with two photocopies, and a candidate who cannot be present may send a representative carrying the authorisation in Annexure II, whose choice of branch is final and binding. Selected candidates pay the entire annual tuition fee and other fees on the day of the admission round itself. Admission status and vacancy position are uploaded on the institute website daily during the counselling period, and a waiting list is allotted only to candidates who actually reported, in the B.Tech document's counselling and on-the-spot admission rules.

A second chance can follow, and the university runs it as a notice rather than a round. After the first round of B.Tech counselling it found vacancies in some branches at Pune and Navi Mumbai and invited candidates who had appeared for the entrance test but not reported for counselling to attend on-the-spot admission on 26th July and 27th July 2026 on a first come first serve basis, in a notice dated 20/07/2026.

One mop-up round in 2026-27 set the university's own test aside altogether. For limited vacant seats in the first year of the three year LL.B. at New Law College, Pune, admission was made on merit in MH-CET 3-Year LL.B. 2026 scores rather than on BV-LLB-2026, with registration through the university's admission portal, a registration fee of Nil and a last date of 28th July 2026, in a notice dated 17/07/2026.

Participating institutes

The score travels only inside Bharati Vidyapeeth. BMAT-2026 fills MBA seats at the Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development in Pune, the Department of Management Studies at Navi Mumbai, the Institute of Management and Research in New Delhi, the Institute of Management in Kolhapur, the Institute of Management and Rural Development Administration in Sangli, Yashwantrao Mohite Institute of Management in Karad, Abhijit Kadam Institute of Management and Social Sciences in Solapur, and the Center for Health Management Studies and Research in Pune, per the MBA document. BV-BTECH-2026 fills seats at two engineering institutes only, the College of Engineering at Pune and the Department of Engineering and Technology at the off campus Navi Mumbai location, each with its own branch list and its own intake per branch, in the B.Tech document's intake tables.

The CET section's line runs along the foot of every page of the entrance test details documents too. The university asks that correspondence go by email, that queries are neither anonymous nor vague, and warns that all communication with candidates is done only from that address, so it should be whitelisted before the registration confirmation is due.
