AIIMS Jodhpur is the tertiary-care AIIMS built for western Rajasthan, and in the NIRF 2025 Medical ranking it holds rank 19 on a score of 63.18. It opened its doors to students in 2012 as one of six second-generation institutes raised under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, and every MBBS place here is filled on NEET-UG merit through central counselling. What a prospective student really needs from this page is narrow: how many seats exist, what the degree costs, which exam decides each one, and how far this institute has climbed. The figures below trace to its 2025 NIRF filing and the MCC counselling record, the two documents that actually decide a Jodhpur seat.

Overview

The institute is an Institute of National Importance under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, set up on the pattern of the original AIIMS in New Delhi, as its official site records. Its defining feature is scale reached fast: its NIRF 2025 data submission reports a hospital of 1,046 beds running at an average daily occupancy of 995, with average OPD attendance of 2,230 in the 2023 calendar year. For a college that admitted its first students only in 2012, that patient load is the point of the place. An undergraduate here trains on a full tertiary case-mix drawn from Jodhpur and the arid districts around it, rather than on the smaller ward volumes a young institute might be expected to carry.

Because the campus at Basni Industrial Area was raised in this century, the wards, laboratories and lecture blocks were planned together rather than accreted across decades, and the institute now serves as the referral ceiling for a large, thinly-hospitalled part of the state.

Courses & Fees

Medicine is the anchor programme, and around it AIIMS Jodhpur runs the full ladder from the bachelor's degree to doctoral research.

What makes an AIIMS place worth chasing well past its rank is the near-absence of a fee. Because the Centre underwrites the institute, an MBBS here is billed at a token annual charge, not the multi-lakh outlay a private medical college demands, and nothing on it works like private-college tuition. The precise head-wise amount is reset in each year's joining bulletin, so an entrant should take the live number from the institute's admission notice and distrust any coaching-portal fee table. Hostel rent and mess dues sit outside the academic charge and, funded the same way, stay modest.

Admissions

One exam settles every MBBS place at Jodhpur, and it is NEET-UG. Once the AIIMS institutes were pulled into the shared medical counselling, their undergraduate seats became All India Quota places in full, so allotment is an MCC exercise from start to finish: fill the MCC form, lock a rank-ordered choice list, and travel to the Basni campus only after the portal issues a written allotment. Jodhpur keeps no MBBS entrance of its own, no management seats, and no Rajasthan-domicile track a local applicant could lean on.

It is the postgraduate side where candidates reach for the wrong paper. A residency here in MD or MS is won on INI-CET, the joint entrance the Institutes of National Importance sit together, and a DM or MCh fellowship on INI-SS, which means a NEET-PG scorecard opens no door at an AIIMS. In short the exam is chosen by where a candidate is standing rather than by the name over the gate: NEET-UG to enter as a school-leaver, INI-CET to come back as a doctor, INI-SS to train up as a specialist, and the nursing, PhD and allied courses each on an institute paper set in house.

Cutoff

AIIMS Jodhpur has no standing cutoff mark to quote. A place turns on a candidate's NEET-UG all-India rank, and the number that binds is the closing All India Rank of each category's last seat in a given MCC round, which the committee releases only once that round is done. Since the seats are national to the last one, the ranks that clear tend to run sharp, then soften over the mop-up rounds as higher scorers migrate to an older AIIMS or step away. The only figure that means anything for Jodhpur has to be pulled fresh, one round and one category at a time, from the running cycle's MCC allotment sheet, never inherited from a prior year's close.

Placements

A medical school does not get "placed" the way an engineering campus does, so a placement percentage is the wrong lens to hold up to Jodhpur. In practice the MBBS does not close in a hiring line at all; it closes in a year of compulsory rotating internship on the institute's wards, and the graduate who clears that almost always sits an entrance again, INI-CET or NEET-PG, aiming at a residency rather than a payroll. Its NIRF 2025 data submission puts real numbers on that split: of the 91 who completed the course in 2022-23, 61 were recorded as placed at a median of Rs 13,56,000 and 30 went on to higher study.

Read those figures with the intake in mind. Every batch out so far entered while the class size was still 100, and for a college this young the career signal worth watching is not a first pay cheque but how deep the training a graduate can reach next. By that test Jodhpur is well found, because an MBBS can go on to contest the institute's own MD, MS, DM and MCh seats without leaving the campus. The internship before all that earns its place too, moving a trainee through internal medicine, general surgery, O&G, paediatrics and a community-medicine block on a Marwar referral load a district hospital cannot assemble.

Seat Matrix

All 125 of Jodhpur's MBBS places belong to the national quota, which is why their reservation math comes off the Union template instead of a state-domicile list. The MCC final seat matrix for AIIMS UG 2024 files it under code 200505 and resolves those 125 into 48 open or general, 13 EWS, 32 OBC, 17 SC and 10 ST, plus two open, two OBC and one SC seat held for candidates with benchmark disabilities.

CategorySeats
Open / General48
General (PwBD)2
EWS13
OBC32
OBC (PwBD)2
SC17
SC (PwBD)1
ST10
Total125

In the seat matrix every benchmark-disability place is listed on a row of its own beneath its parent category, and adding those PwBD rows back into the open and reserved counts is what returns the total to 125. The plainer reading for an applicant is that the open and OBC shares are the widest way in, while the SC, ST and EWS lines drift a little year to year and are re-issued in each cycle's MCC matrix.

Rankings

The one external number that travels is AIIMS Jodhpur's NIRF 2025 Medical rank of 19, set on an overall 63.18. Unpack the five pillars and a pattern shows that reverses the usual young-institute order: Teaching, Learning and Resources is Jodhpur's single best line at 79.04, ahead even of its Graduation Outcomes at 75.04, so the total is carried first by staffing and teaching plant and only then by students finishing on time. Outreach and Inclusivity at 60.17 and Research and Professional Practice at 52.93 hold the middle, and Perception, at 25.62, is the one pillar pulling the total down.

Teaching, Learning and Resources79.04
Research and Professional Practice52.93
Graduation Outcomes75.04
Outreach and Inclusivity60.17
Perception25.62
Overall63.18

That gap between a high teaching pillar and a low perception pillar is the honest measure of the institute: the medicine and the instruction already outrun the reputation, and reputation is the one line that only years on the job, not any effort or spending, will lift.

Departments

Teaching at Jodhpur runs across the four tiers a full AIIMS carries, pre-clinical, para-clinical, clinical and super-specialty, and the department roster is deep enough that one faculty body both staffs the referral hospital and delivers the MBBS course side by side. Its pre-clinical teaching sits in the four foundational departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology. The para-clinical layer over them runs Pathology and Lab Medicine, then Microbiology and a Forensic Medicine and Toxicology unit.

For a college of this age the clinical roster is wide, taking in General Medicine and Surgery, Paediatrics and Neonatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry, Dermatology and Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, plus a standing Trauma and Emergency service. The super-specialty faculties behind the DM and MCh teaching run to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Gastroenterology and Surgical Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, and Medical, Surgical and Radiation Oncology with Nuclear Medicine. The upshot for an undergraduate is that the specialty rotations of the clinical years sit on this campus, not out at some tie-up hospital across town.

Facilities & Infrastructure

The clinical infrastructure is the institute's real asset. Its 1,046-bed hospital, running near-full at 995 beds occupied on an average day per the NIRF 2025 data submission, is the reason a college barely past its first decade can teach super-specialty medicine at all, because training depth follows patient volume. The estate at Basni Industrial Area holds the college, the hospital and the residential blocks on planned ground rather than a patchwork of older buildings, and the institute has kept investing in the plant that a teaching hospital runs on, from laboratory equipment to library resources, which is part of why its teaching score reads well clear of its perception score.

Beyond the wards, the campus carries the central library, departmental laboratories and the recreation and residential space a resident medical population needs, with accessibility provisions, lifts and ramps in place across most of the buildings as the institute's own filing notes.

Hostel

For a medical student a hostel place is not a convenience but a working necessity, since internship and ward duty at Jodhpur run through the night as much as the day. The hostel office assigns rooms as they come free, and rent and mess go to an account separate from the academic fund, so an entrant should add them on top of the joining fee rather than assume they are bundled in. Which block, which mess and any place in a queue turn on that year's intake, so a first-year is better off settling the specifics with the academic section once admitted than banking on a room in advance.

Faculty

Nothing signals AIIMS Jodhpur's move out of its founding phase more plainly than the size of its teaching bench. The NIRF 2025 data submission puts 237 faculty on the rolls across the clinical and non-clinical departments, and that headcount is what props up the Teaching, Learning and Resources score of 79.04 behind its NIRF 2025 Medical rank. What a bench that size buys a student, undergraduate or MD, is cover: enough professors and resident doctors in each discipline that ward rounds, dissertation guidance and fellowship supervision are not left competing for the same teacher.

The same bench carries a heavy research and doctoral workload. The same filing also logs 44 full-time and 6 part-time PhD scholars alongside 444 doctors in MD, MS or DNB training, so in a great many departments the consultant setting an undergraduate's paper is the same person running a referral service and steering its residents.

Notable Alumni

AIIMS Jodhpur turned out its earliest MBBS batches only in the late 2010s, from classes admitted when the intake still stood at 100, so its senior-most graduates are only now leaving residency for consultant and faculty roles. Instead of copying names off unverified rankings, the truthful account is that the alumni body is still young, its members fanning out into practice and postgraduate seats around the country. A public roll of notable graduates for this AIIMS has yet to be written, which is exactly where a second-generation institute stands at this point and not something to dress up.

News & Articles

The institute runs its own notices, tenders, recruitment advertisements and event write-ups through the news panels on its official website, and its steady stream of faculty and Senior Resident vacancies posts there as well. For anything live, from a departmental workshop to a hiring notice, that board is the primary record. What it will not hold is an MBBS applicant's calendar, because undergraduate admission answers to the MCC's national schedule and not to anything the institute pins up, so a NEET-UG aspirant should be watching the counselling portal rather than this page.

College Compare

Set inside the AIIMS family, Jodhpur comes across as a solid institute for the west of the country rather than a challenger to the original. The founding institute in New Delhi remains far out in front on the medical table, and within the first-phase cohort Jodhpur's 19th rank leaves it mid-pack, a few rungs below the two front-runners at Rishikesh and Bhubaneswar and clear of the institutes that started later. Between one AIIMS and another a NEET-UG candidate is rarely deciding on fee or entry route, near-identical system-wide; the deciding factors are where it stands, what walks into its wards, and how far it has grown, and on all three Jodhpur offers a complete tertiary training base in a stretch of country short of hospitals like it.

The contrast sharpens inside Rajasthan. Jodhpur's national medical rank leaves the state's other colleges behind it, so the choice within Rajasthan is really about the door you enter by: a purely merit-decided All India Quota seat at this AIIMS, set against the domicile-quota maths and the service bond a state government college tends to bind a graduate with.

Contact & Location

The institute sits at Basni Industrial Area Phase 2 in Jodhpur, in the west of Rajasthan at PIN 342005, and its single-campus layout keeps the college, the teaching hospital and the administration at one address, as its official site records.

Admission questions go to the MCC, not to a desk at the institute, precisely because the seats are filled from the national counselling pool rather than on campus. And a caller or a visitor should keep in mind that this address is first a live tertiary hospital, so the teaching and office wings run on hours of their own, apart from the clinics.
