A B.Tech seat at Venkatapur, Ghatkesar, in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Hyderabad, Telangana, has two prices on this campus, and which one you pay turns on which pool your seat came from rather than on which branch you read. The university prints Rs 1,35,000 per annum against B. Tech under the heading "Fee fixed by TAFRC for existing Programs in AGI", and Rs 3,25,000 per annum against every named B.Tech specialisation in the table below it, which covers new programmes and additional intake, on its tuition fee page. AGI stands for Anurag Group of Institutions, the name this campus carried until 2020, and the distance between those two rows is the most consequential thing a family here has to get straight.
Overview
The entity is Anurag University, a private state university, and it names its own founding instrument without ambiguity: it "is established as a Private State University through Ordinance No. 1/2020, dated: 20.05.2020 as per the Telangana State Private Universities Act No. 11 of 2018", on its foundation page. Before that date the address held a cluster of colleges affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. CVSR College of Engineering opened here in 2002 and Lalitha College of Pharmacy in 2005, and the trust folded CVSR, Lalitha Degree and PG College and Lalitha College of Pharmacy together into Anurag Group of Institutions in 2010, per the history timeline on that same foundation page. The Gayathri Educational and Cultural Trust behind all of it dates to 1982. The University Grants Commission's consolidated list of universities carries the campus under its Telangana heading, at Venkatapur, Ghatkesar, Medchal, against that same founding date of 20.05.2020, and tags it "(Private University)". The tag settles a question families ask here often, because the same list marks the Hyderabad institutions around it "(Deemed to be University)" and "(State University)" where that is what they are. This one is a private university, not a deemed one.
Read the 2020 ordinance as a line drawn across the student body rather than as a rebrand. Anyone who entered CVSR or AGI before it was reading for a degree conferred by an affiliating university; anyone admitted from the 2020 session onward is reading for a degree the university awards itself under the state Act. If you are verifying an older certificate from this address, ask the controller of examinations which body issued it.
Official directories have not all caught up, which matters if you are searching under the old name. The All India Survey on Higher Education still carries Anurag Group of Institutions as its own college record, affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, alongside a separate record for Anurag University as a state private university. One name check saves a wasted application: Anurag Engineering College is a different institution, at Kodad in Suryapet district, entered under code ANRK and affiliated to the technological university in the same convener statement that carries this campus. The Telangana Council of Higher Education lists Anurag University among the state's private universities on its private universities page, and the Association of Indian Universities enters it in its published member list in the private-university category.
Inside the counselling system the campus is four letters, and the university prints them in the header strip of every page on its own site: EAPCET CODE : ANUG, visible above the menu on the tuition fee page. The postal address at the foot of those pages reads Venkatapur, Ghatkesar, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Hyderabad, Telangana, India, 500 088. Three units have been added since the university came into being, per the same foundation page: the School of Agricultural Sciences in 2021, the School of Nursing in 2022 and the Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences in 2023.
Scale is stated two ways. The university describes a campus of "50+ acres" with a built-up area over one million square feet, set up to train "about 10000 students" with "about 1000 teaching and non-teaching fraternity", on its foundation page. The roll it files with the Ministry of Education is firmer: 7,381 students on four-year undergraduate programmes, 240 on two-year postgraduate ones, 30 on the three-year programme and 180 on the six-year Pharm.D, in the data it submitted for the 2026 edition of the India Rankings. Of the 7,381 undergraduates, 3,151 came from inside Telangana, 4,108 from other states and 122 from outside India, on that same filing. The out-of-state cohort is the larger one, unusual for a private campus filling part of its list through a state convener.
Courses & Fees
Two fee schedules govern this campus because two different authorities set them. The first was fixed for the college and carried into the university by statute, which the university states directly: "As per the Act, the fee fixed by the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) for the intake of existing programs and seats in Anurag Group of Institutions (AGI) shall remain same in the University."
| Programme | Fee fixed by TAFRC for existing AGI intake |
|---|---|
| B. Tech | Rs 1,35,000 per annum |
| B. Pharm | Rs 85,000 per annum |
| Pharm-D | Rs 68,000 per annum |
The second is the university's own schedule, for the programmes it added after 2020 and for extra seats in the ones it inherited.
| Programme | Tuition fee per annum |
|---|---|
| B. Tech, every named specialisation | Rs 3,25,000 plus Rs 10,000 for an Honours or Minor track |
| B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture | Rs 2,00,000 |
| Bachelor of Business Administration | Rs 1,50,000 |
| B.Sc and Diploma paramedical courses | Rs 1,50,000 |
| M. Tech, five core branches | Rs 57,000 |
| M. Tech, six newer branches | Rs 1,00,000 |
| M.Pharm, four specialisations | Rs 1,10,000 |
| Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) | Rs 68,000 |
| Master of Business Administration | Rs 1,50,000 |
| MBA Business Analytics | Rs 2,50,000 |
| Master of Computer Applications | Rs 1,00,000 |
| Ph.D, every discipline | Rs 50,000 |
Set the two beside each other and the same degree, taught by the same departments in the same four years, costs well over twice as much on one schedule as on the other. The M.Tech list splits the same way inside a single qualification: Computer Science and Engineering, Structural Engineering, VLSI System Design, Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, and Machine Design sit at Rs 57,000 a year while Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Construction Technology, Additive Manufacturing and Robotics sit at Rs 1,00,000, on the tuition fee page.
Three degrees on that page carry a duration and no price at all. B.Com (Hons), Bachelor of Journalism and B.A. Economics are listed under Liberal Arts with the fee column left blank on the tuition fee page, so if one of those is why you are applying, the number has to come from the admissions office.
Doctoral study is priced twice over, as annual tuition of Rs 50,000 and as a separate schedule of one-off charges that the university totals for you.
| Ph.D charge | Amount | Times |
|---|---|---|
| Application fee | Rs 3,000 | 1 |
| Admission fee | Rs 25,500 | 1 |
| Course-work registration fee | Rs 4,000 | 5 |
| Course-work examination fee | Rs 3,000 | 5 |
| Milestone fee | Rs 35,000 | 4 |
| Pre-thesis defence | Rs 7,000 | 1 |
| Thesis submission | Rs 10,000 | 1 |
| Thesis defence | Rs 30,000 | 1 |
| Grand total | Rs 2,50,500 |
Admissions
No single entrance test controls entry to Anurag University in Hyderabad, and the routes do not all lead to the same fee. For B.Tech the undergraduate admissions page sets a floor of a pass in Intermediate or equivalent with a minimum of 45% marks, then describes three doors: a merit rank in the Anurag Common Entrance Test, which the university conducts itself; a merit rank in the state entrance test conducted by the Government of Telangana, now TG EAPCET; or, for foreign and NRI candidates, merit in AIEEE, JEE, the state test or the marks secured at 10+2. Read that table by its columns, because the marks bar is not where it looks. The minimum of 60% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with a first class in the qualifying examination sits in the Anurag CET column, joined to the CET rank by "AND / OR", so the university's own test is an alternative to the marks bar rather than an addition to it. The general-category column sets no percentage of its own above the 45% floor; a TG EAPCET merit rank is the whole of it. The foreign and NRI column carries something neither of the others does: on that page the university says TSEAPCET, APEAMCET, Uni-GAUGE, AIEEE and JEE "can be waived for exceptional students", pointing the candidate at its admissions team. That waiver is of the entrance test, not of the qualifying marks.
Pharmacy sits behind a different threshold. B.Pharm and Pharm.D ask for a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination with Mathematics or Biology, Physics and Chemistry, with entry on a state-test merit rank or on 10+2 marks, and the BBA and B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture lines quote the same 50% floor, on that same page.
The question that decides your fee is which office is making the offer, and neither the prospectus nor the fee page answers it. A convener-allotted seat and a seat offered straight from the university's admissions cell are both real, but only one comes out of the pool the fee page calls existing AGI intake. Ask which pool, in writing, before any money moves.
Dates on the university's own admission material go stale and should be treated as expired until confirmed. The only application deadline it publishes anywhere is 2 September 2025, the merit-scholarship cut-off for the year before this one, still standing on the scholarships page. Everything else runs rolling through a separate admissions portal, so the last date for your cycle has to come from the office, using the toll-free number and admissions email printed at the foot of every page.
Cutoff
Telangana publishes closing ranks for the seats its convener allots, and under code ANUG this campus is entered as "ANURAG UNIVERSITY (FORMERLY ANURAG GRP OF INSTNS- CVSR COLL OF ENGG)" at Ghatkesar. Its affiliated-to column reads ANURAG UNIVERSITY, not JNTUH, which is the counselling system's own record of the conversion.
| B.Tech branch | OC boys, first phase | OC boys, final phase | OC girls, final phase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | 9684 | 11593 | 12045 |
| Artificial Intelligence | 9932 | 11811 | 12871 |
| Information Technology | 14783 | 16615 | 16615 |
| Electronics and Communication Engineering | 18658 | 18658 | 19424 |
| Electrical and Electronics Engineering | 30799 | 30799 | 32106 |
| Mechanical Engineering | 48242 | 47657 | 58724 |
| Civil Engineering | 52802 | 52802 | 52802 |
Two features of that table are worth more than any single figure in it. The computing end drifted outward as the rounds went on: an open-category boy who missed computer science at 9684 in the first phase could still be admitted at 11593 by the final one, and the same widening shows in Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology, on the first phase and final phase statements. Holding out for a later round paid at the top of this branch list that year, which is not a rule to carry elsewhere.
What the table leaves out is the other half of the story. Seven branches appear under ANUG. The fee page lists four more that do not appear at all: Computer Science Engineering (Data Science), Computer Science Engineering (Cyber Security), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Electronics and Computer Engineering. None of those four is in either 2025 phase, so the convener published no closing rank for any of them, and each is priced on the higher schedule at Rs 3,25,000 a year on the tuition fee page. A candidate set on one of those specialisations is applying to the university's own office, at the higher fee, with nothing public to measure their rank against.
The asymmetry runs the other way too. Electronics and Communication Engineering admitted at 18658 under ANUG in the final phase, and it is one of the accredited branches, yet it is the single branch the B.Tech table on the tuition fee page does not price at all.
Reserved categories sit a long way from the open-category column, in both directions. In the final phase the same computer science seat closed at 25594 for BC-A boys and at 60726 for SC-I boys, while Civil Engineering closed at 52802 for the open category and at 116258 for SC-II boys, in the final phase statement. Find your own category column rather than working from the open-category figure.
Pharmacy is the real gap here, and it belongs to the convener rather than to this campus. B.Pharm and Pharm.D in the MPC stream are not admitted somewhere else: the convener's own counselling portal is headed "ADMISSIONS INTO ENGINEERING AND PHARMACY" and publishes a detailed notification for admission into B Pharmacy and Pharm D courses alongside the engineering one, on the TG EAPCET admissions site. What that site publishes by way of closing ranks, though, is three documents for 2025 and no more, the first, second and final phase last rank statements, and every row in them is an engineering branch. No pharmacy programme at any Telangana college appears in any of the three. So there is no published closing rank to quote for B.Pharm or Pharm.D at this address, and none for its competitors either, which means a pharmacy candidate cannot benchmark this campus against another on rank at all. Nothing on the campus site fills that gap; it carries no closing rank for any programme.
Placements
The campus advertises one set of numbers and files another, and the gap is about what is being counted rather than about facts. The university's placements page puts its latest cycle at more than 1800 offers, an average salary package of 6.5 Lakhs, a highest package of 53 LPA, more than 180 recruiters and a highest stipend of 1,25,000, and the cycle before it at more than 1600 offers with an average of 6.0 Lakhs and a highest of 32 LPA. Offers are not graduates. One student holding four offers is four offers.
What goes to the Ministry of Education counts students who finished on time, and says so on the form.
| Undergraduate cohort, all four-year programmes | Graduated in minimum stipulated time | Placed | Median salary | Went to higher studies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022-23 | 1224 | 841 | Rs 4,50,000 | 233 |
| 2023-24 | 1485 | 983 | Rs 4,50,000 | 359 |
| 2024-25 | 1591 | 1068 | Rs 4,60,000 | 390 |
The median graduate left the most recent of those cohorts on Rs 4,60,000, per the 2026 data submission, while the placements page advertised an average of 6.5 Lakhs, and both can be true at once, because an average is pulled upward by a long tail and a median is the person standing in the middle. Roughly two in three graduates who finished on time were recorded as placed. The count leaving for higher studies rose in all three years, which is a second outcome rather than a residual.
The pharmacy school is the strongest thing this campus has by national ranking and carries the weakest placement line on it, and that contradiction deserves a straight look.
| Pharmacy programme, 2023-24 graduating cohort | Graduated in minimum time | Placed | Median salary | Went to higher studies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B.Pharm | 89 | 17 | Rs 4,20,000 | 61 |
| M.Pharm | 29 | 22 | Rs 4,20,000 | 6 |
| Pharm.D, six-year | 30 | 18 | Rs 4,20,000 | 10 |
| Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) | 9 | 5 | Rs 4,10,000 | 2 |
Seventeen of 89 B.Pharm graduates were placed and 61 went on to further study, on that submission. Anyone choosing B.Pharm here should plan the second degree and its cost from the outset rather than treating it as a fallback, because that is what most of the cohort ahead of them did. The master's line runs the opposite way, with 22 of 29 M.Pharm graduates placed at the same median, which is the pattern this school is actually built for.
Seat Matrix
Branch-level sanctioned intake is not published by the university for any programme. What it does file each year is the whole-institution figure, and it moves in steps rather than a trend.
| Academic year | UG, four-year | PG, two-year | PG, three-year | PG, six-year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024-25 | 1840 | 120 | 10 | 30 |
| 2023-24 | 1540 | 120 | 10 | 30 |
| 2022-23 | 1600 | not filed | 10 | 30 |
Inside that total the pharmacy school's share is small and has not moved: a sanctioned intake of 100 for B.Pharm, 30 for the two-year M.Pharm, 10 for the three-year Pharm.D (PB) and 30 for the six-year Pharm.D, in the 2025 pharmacy submission. The undergraduate seats are therefore overwhelmingly engineering ones, and the jump between 2023-24 and 2024-25 went somewhere in the B.Tech list without the university saying where. No two-year postgraduate intake is filed for the years before 2023-24, so that column starts where the university's own return starts.
Research enrolment is where the numbers are least settled. The doctoral roll stands at 103 full-time and 479 part-time scholars, and the completion record beside it is short: 10 full-time scholars graduated in each of 2023-24 and 2024-25, with seven and five part-time, against none of either in 2022-23, in the 2026 filing. A part-time register that size against a completion record that new is worth asking about.
Neither side publishes how the seats in those seven branches divide between the convener and the university's own office, which makes that split the most useful thing to ask for in writing.
Rankings
Pharmacy is where this campus holds a number rather than a range, and it has held one for five consecutive editions. In the India Rankings 2025 it placed 72nd in the Pharmacy category with a score of 45.19, on the ministry's pharmacy table. The year before it stood 71st with a score of 44.22, on the 2024 table, so the score rose while the rank slipped by one, which is what a strengthening field does to a steady institution.
Its own record fills in the years before that. The university logs a pharmacy rank of 81 in 2023, 58 in 2022 and 61 in 2021, alongside engineering at 140 in 2022 and 147 in 2021 and rank bands of 101-150 and 151-200 in the university and overall categories across those editions, on its rankings and awards page. Set against that, pharmacy is the one category where this campus has been consistently competitive, while engineering went the other way, from a numbered 140 in 2022 out into the 151-200 band by 2024.
For the current edition the engineering and university results are bands, not positions. Anurag University is named in the ministry's 2025 engineering and university rank-band listings, which are published alphabetically with no individual rank beside any institution in them.
Treat the ranking claims printed in the site's own page furniture with more suspicion than the tables. A badge strip repeated across the scholarships page still reads "140 India Rank", and the pharmacy write-up on the undergraduate admissions page still claims "All India 61 Rank in Pharmacy category in NIRF". Neither is current. The magazine-survey placements on the same page are not comparable with the national framework.
Departments
Facilities & Infrastructure
Accommodation is priced by room shape and, as with tuition, on more than one schedule. For 2026-27 the main hostel table runs Rs 1,05,000 for a five-seater with a common washroom without air conditioning, Rs 1,15,000 for a four-seater with an attached washroom, and Rs 1,25,000 for the air-conditioned four-seater, while a second table headed ASU prices the four-seater at Rs 1,25,000 and Rs 1,35,000 and a three-seater at Rs 1,50,000 and Rs 1,60,000, all per annum, on the hostels and accommodation page. Which table applies to you is another thing to confirm in writing. That page also describes rooms with wardrobes, study tables and balconies, hostel computer labs and libraries, gymnasiums, laundry and separate blocks for boys and girls.
What a campus buys shows up in its capital spending. In the most recent year filed, capital expenditure came to Rs 1,29,58,833 on the library, Rs 5,55,00,659 on new laboratory equipment and Rs 3,03,00,150 on engineering workshops, each above the two preceding years, and the same return records 17 sponsored research projects drawing Rs 2,75,98,118 from 17 funding agencies, in the 2026 data submission.
Step-free access is declared with a qualifier that changes what it promises. The ranking form puts three questions about physically challenged students, and the university answers the one about lifts and ramps and the one about specially designed toilets with "Yes, more than 80% of the buildings", and the one about walking aids, wheelchairs and transport between buildings with a plain Yes, in the 2026 data submission. Which part of the estate falls outside that qualifier is not identified, so a student who needs step-free routes should walk the blocks their own timetable puts them in. On sustainability the same return reports a surface-runoff rainwater harvesting system, solar panels, composting for food waste and a ban on single-use plastic items, and nothing beyond those.
A transport schedule is published as a downloadable spreadsheet from the footer of the main university site, where a medical centre, insurance service, sports facilities and a library each hold a page. Neither route-level transport detail nor library holdings are summarised anywhere public, so ask for both if you are commuting or if the library matters to your subject.
Hostel
Faculty
The one firm faculty count this campus publishes belongs to the pharmacy school, where 50 faculty members were entered in the 2025 pharmacy submission against four programmes and a few hundred students. The institution-wide filings list several hundred named teachers with qualification, experience and joining date, but number them afresh per school, so no whole-campus headcount or student-to-teacher ratio can be read off them.
The figure the university offers for itself mixes categories. Its foundation page describes infrastructure built to train "about 10000 students" with "about 1000 teaching and non-teaching fraternity", which counts administrative staff alongside academics and so cannot be used as a teaching ratio.
Payroll gives an independent read on direction. Salaries for teaching and non-teaching staff came to Rs 81,99,84,370 in the most recent year filed, against Rs 69,90,05,242 and Rs 55,15,26,495 in the two years before, in the 2026 data submission. The wage bill grew by roughly half across those three years while sanctioned undergraduate intake grew much more slowly, which is the shape of hiring ahead of the new schools rather than behind them.

Approvals & Accreditation
Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.
Programme accreditation here is real and specific, and it stops at the branches the campus started with. The National Board of Accreditation records Computer Science and Engineering, Civil, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering at "Anurag University (Formerly known as AGI)" in Hyderabad as accredited at undergraduate Tier I, the Washington Accord tier, each running to the end of June 2028, in its accredited programme register. The B.Pharm programme is accredited on the same register and to the same month, which is the one accreditation that lines up with where this campus actually ranks. A Chemical Engineering accreditation lapsed in June 2022 and has not been renewed, and not one of the newer specialisations, the data science, cyber security, machine learning and electronics-and-computer streams, appears on the register at all. An entrant this year is therefore covered for a full degree in six engineering branches and in pharmacy, and in nothing else.
Institutional accreditation is the gap, and the clearest evidence for it comes from the university. Under the accreditation heading of its own 2026 data submission it answers YES to holding a valid accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, then enters a window that ran from 12 September 2017 to 11 September 2022, at a CGPA of 3.05. That window has closed. The A grade the site's badge strip advertises belongs to it and was awarded to the college rather than to the university, and the council's own accreditation status listing of institutions holding valid accreditation carries no entry for Anurag University. If an institutional grade matters to you, ask for the certificate and check its expiry against the council's list.
One more line in that badge strip needs discounting. "UGC Autonomous" refers to autonomy the University Grants Commission granted the college well before 2020, a status that describes the pre-ordinance institution and carries no meaning for a university that now awards its own degrees.
Aid
Scholarships
Merit money here runs off a published schedule rather than discretion, and the schedule itself says something. Anurag CET concessions run 100% for rank band 1-10, 50% for 11-25 and 25% for 26-100, and the state and national test ladder runs as two columns read across together, so that 100% goes to a state-test rank of 1-2000 or a JEE rank of 1-25000, then 50%, 25% and 10% step down in pairs to 15001-25000 in the state test and 75001-100000 in JEE, on the scholarships page. A JEE rank buys a concession at this campus roughly twelve times deeper into the list than a state-test rank does, which tells you which test the university is trying to attract.
The rupee values printed beside those percentages are the part to read closely. A 100% concession is valued at Rs 11,40,000 per student, a 50% at Rs 5,70,000, a 25% at Rs 2,85,000 and a 10% at Rs 1,14,000, on the scholarships page. Those are whole-course values, and spread over four years the full waiver is worth less each year than the Rs 3,25,000 the tuition fee page sets for new B.Tech intake. Ask which fee schedule the percentage is applied to before you read a 100% band as a zero-tuition offer.
Beyond the ranked bands the same page adds a 50% concession in tuition fee for government junior college students whose state-test rank falls inside a ceiling it sets, a free branded laptop for the first 500 admissions, a waiver of examination fees for differently abled students, cash prizes of Rs 5,000 for a class or branch topper and Rs 10,000 for the topper of a school, and a gold medal in each school, on the scholarships page.
Reimbursement, not merit money, is what pays most of the tuition collected here.
| Undergraduate category on the 2026 return | Students |
|---|---|
| Economically backward | 1638 |
| Socially challenged | 3735 |
| Full tuition reimbursed from state and central government funds | 4334 |
| Full tuition reimbursed from the university's own funds | 920 |
| Full tuition reimbursed by private bodies | 65 |
| Receiving no full tuition reimbursement | 54 |
A substantial block of those full waivers comes out of the university's own funds rather than a government scheme, which is a real and rarely advertised part of how this campus is priced. On the merit side the page does say what happens if results slip, and the bar is high: a scholarship granted at admission continues into the next year only where the student holds a CGPA of 8.0 or above with no backlogs at the end of the previous semester or year. Nothing equivalent is published against the reimbursement lines in the table above, so ask which of those you would be counted on and what would end it. For convener-admitted students the university states the conditions it applies: a parental income below Rs 2 lakhs a year for SC and ST students, below Rs 1 lakh a year for BC, EBC and minority students, and a minimum 75% attendance held throughout the course, on the scholarships page.

Student Reviews
We have not collected verified student reviews for this campus, and we do not reproduce star ratings from sites that cannot show how a reviewer was verified. Aggregator pages carrying ratings for Anurag University are easy to find and none publishes its verification method, so read them as marketing rather than evidence.
Two questions are worth more than any rating here, and both are particular to this address rather than general advice. Ask, in writing, which fee schedule your offer sits on, the Rs 1,35,000 carried over from the AGI years or the Rs 3,25,000 the university sets for new and additional B.Tech intake. Then ask whether the branch you have been offered is one of the six holding Tier I accreditation to June 2028 or one of the four newer specialisations that holds none and has no published closing rank either. An office that answers both plainly has told you more than a star average could.

Gallery
We host no photographs of this campus. The university's own imagery sits across its schools, campus life and residential life pages, and its prospectus and brochure are linked from its regulatory compliance menu. The laboratories are the rooms to insist on seeing, and on a working day rather than at an open house. This campus filed Rs 5,55,00,659 of new laboratory equipment in its most recent year, up from Rs 5,01,34,633 and Rs 3,84,85,540 in the two before, in the 2026 data submission, and no photograph will tell you which departments that money landed in. Ask to be shown the benches your own timetable puts you at.
