VIT Engineering Entrance Examination

VITEEE, the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination, is the test Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) uses to admit students to its undergraduate B.Tech programmes. A single VITEEE score covers the whole VIT group, so one sitting puts you in the running for the Vellore, Chennai, VIT-AP (Amaravati) and VIT Bhopal campuses rather than a separate test for each.

The exam is a computer-based test held at designated centres, taken after Class 12. It runs in two subject combinations: the MPCEA track, which carries Mathematics for the mainstream engineering branches, and the BPCEA track, which carries Biology for bio-based programmes such as Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering. Both tracks are set in English and share Physics, Chemistry, English and an Aptitude section.

Questions are drawn from the Class 11 and 12 syllabus. Eligibility rests on a pass in Class 12 with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, together with Mathematics for the MPCEA track or Biology for the BPCEA track. You choose the combination that matches the B.Tech branch you want.

VITEEE is a national exam, open to candidates across India. Because one ranked list feeds all four campuses, your VITEEE rank, rather than a separate cut-off per institution, decides the campus and branch you can pick when VIT runs its counselling.
