About AMU Entrance

The AMU entrance test is the admission examination Aligarh Muslim University sets for entry to its own programmes. Its Office of the Controller of Examinations runs the process at Aligarh, handling registration, question papers, answer keys and results through amucontrollerexams.com. A score counts for admission to AMU alone. It is not a common test that other institutions accept.

The exam is the route into AMU's undergraduate and postgraduate courses across a wide spread of streams: arts, science, commerce, engineering (B.Tech and B.Arch), law, business through the MBA family, and various diploma and professional programmes. There is no single paper. Because AMU offers so many separate courses, each programme runs its own admission test built around the syllabus of the relevant qualifying level, so a school-level curriculum underlies the UG papers and a graduation-level curriculum underlies the PG papers.

It is held at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and conducted offline, in pen-and-paper mode with multiple-choice questions. Eligibility is course-specific and generally rests on the appropriate qualifying examination in the relevant stream: Class 12 for most UG entry, a bachelor's degree for PG entry. The Controller of Examinations publishes the course-wise syllabi and other admission details directly, not through any external agency.
