Common University Entrance Test (Postgraduate) – CUET (PG)

CUET (PG), the Common University Entrance Test (Postgraduate), is a national entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grants Commission, under the Ministry of Education. It gives participating universities one common measure for postgraduate admissions, in place of separate university-run entrance tests.

A CUET (PG) score is used for admission to master's and other postgraduate programmes at central universities, along with participating state, deemed, and private universities and institutions. The programmes that draw on it run across the arts and humanities, the sciences, commerce, engineering, management, law, and education, covering degrees such as MA, MSc, MCom, MTech, MBA, MCA, LLB, LLM, BEd, and MEd. Each participating university handles its own admission and counselling, and sets its own programme-specific eligibility.

The test is held once a year, in computer-based (CBT) mode only. There is no common general-aptitude paper. Instead you sit a subject or domain paper matched to the programme you want, drawn from groups that cover Sciences, higher sciences and M.Tech subjects, languages, humanities, common subjects, and Acharya groups. Broad eligibility is a completed bachelor's degree or equivalent, with final-year candidates also allowed to appear, subject to each university's own requirements.
