SR University in Warangal has raised its NIRF engineering score in every edition it has appeared in, from 32.95 in 2020, when the entry still carried the name SR Engineering College, to 47.16 in 2025, and three editions after first breaking into the top hundred it sits at exactly the rank it started from. The rest of its public record splits the same way. Its homepage counter advertises campus placements of 95% and up, its placements page a 97% employment rate, and the return it filed with the ranking framework counts 708 of 873 graduating students placed. Only the last of those three says what it is counting, and the same gap runs through its seat, fee and branch figures.
Overview
Two founding dates sit in this institution's own paperwork and neither of them is wrong, because one campus is carrying both. The Telangana government declared it a university in May 2020 and it appointed Dr G R C Reddy as its first Vice-Chancellor the following month, both recorded on its media page; all five accreditation documents it publishes for its core engineering branches still enter the year of establishment of the institute as 2002, in the NBA data capturing document for Computer Science and Engineering. The Pro-Chancellor's note on the about page joins the two ends in a single line: the SR engineering college that started with an intake of 240 students in 2002 has evolved as a university with over 10,000 students enrolled.
The statute behind the university is a state one, not a central one. It was created under the Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulations) Act 2018, Telangana Act No: 11 of 2018, as its about page states, and the Telangana Council of Higher Education lists it among the private universities of the state. Read down the ten universities that table names and Warangal is the outlier: the other nine are Hyderabad addresses or satellites of it, Ghatkesar, Ibrahimpatnam, Shamirpet, Sangareddy and Wargal in Siddipet district.
Leadership has already turned over once since the state signed the university into existence. Prof. G R C Reddy, the founding Vice-Chancellor appointed in 2020, now appears on the board of advisors as Ex-Vice-Chancellor, and the post is held by Prof. Deepak Garg, previously Professor and Dean of computer science at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and at Bennett University, on the about page.
The identifiers that do not move between admission cycles are spread across the campus site, the state council and the accreditation filings.

The parent body is described at two different sizes on one page. In its own about text Sri Rajeshwara Educational Society is a 50 year old conglomerate with more than 90,000 students and 17,000 teaching and non-teaching staff members, with 95 institutions across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governed by SR Educational Academy; in the Pro-Chancellor's note further down the same about page the Society is a 49 year old group governing 185 schools, junior colleges, engineering colleges and a university throughout Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka with over 100,000 students and 10000 faculty and staff. Whoever quotes a group figure at you, ask which of those two counts they are using.
Courses & Fees
Seven schools carry the teaching here and the mix is broader than the engineering rank suggests. The academics page names the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, the School of Engineering, the Astra School of Business, the School of Sciences and Humanities, the School of Agriculture, the School of Design and the School of Allied Health Sciences. Physiotherapy, forensic science, radiology technology, agriculture, interior design and fashion design all sit on the same campus as the B.Tech branches.
Fees are the weakest part of the public record here, and the gap is easy to miss because the site looks like it answers the question. Every page of the main site carries a standing banner reading TUITION FEE: RS 1,30,000/- beside the EAMCET code SRHP, on the homepage, without naming the programme, the year or the quota it applies to. The Fee and Scholarship link in the Admissions column of that same homepage footer points at a page that no longer resolves, and the three dated fee pages the markup once carried, for 2021, 2022 and 2025, are commented out beside it. A figure is advertised on every page of the site and the page that would explain it does not load.
One programme does publish a full, unambiguous price, and it is the most expensive one on offer. The Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) run with the University of Melbourne lists Rs 2.5 lacs a year in tuition and Rs 1 lac a year for the hostel across the two years spent at Warangal, and totals those with the examination fee at INR 3.8 lacs for year 1 and INR 3.99 lacs for year 2 on a 5% annual increase in fee, per the study abroad page. The Melbourne years are priced separately by Melbourne.
Who sets the rest of it is settled by statute rather than by the university's discretion alone. Section 32 of the governing Act gives each private university autonomy over its fees, but requires them to be determined by a Fee Fixation Committee drawn from the Board of Management, the Academic Council and external members and chaired by a Board of Management member, in the Telangana State Private Universities Act, 2018. The same section preserves the fee the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee had fixed for the courses and seats of an institution that later becomes a university. Ask the admission office which of those two regimes covers the seat you are being offered, and get the answer in writing before you pay.
Entry routes and marks bars differ sharply by programme family, and the university publishes both.
| Programme family | Entry route published by the university | Published qualifying bar |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech, all branches | JEE-Main, a state engineering entrance including EAPCET, or merit in sports or cultural activities | 60% marks in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics |
| B.Tech under the International Engineering Program | SRSAT, JEE-Main, a state engineering entrance, or merit in sports or cultural activities | 70% of marks in 10+2 |
| B.Des and the science and agriculture B.Sc degrees | No entrance test published | 55% of marks in 10+2 |
| BPT and the allied health B.Sc degrees, including radiology, forensic science and medical lab technology | A written test and an interview conducted by the university | 45% of marks in 10+2 |
| BBA, BCA and B.Com | A written test and an interview conducted by the university | 50% of marks in 10+2 |
| MBA | SRUMAT, waived on a qualifying entrance score | 50% of marks in a graduation degree |
| Executive MBA | No entrance test published | A bachelor's degree and three years of work experience |
| M.Tech | Merit rank in SRSAT, PGCET or GATE | 55% aggregate in the corresponding B.Tech discipline |
| Ph.D. | SRSAT and an interview, the written test waived for NET, SET, SLET or GATE holders | 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA in a master's degree for General and OBC non-creamy-layer candidates, 50% marks or 5.5 CGPA for OBC, SC, ST and PH candidates |
Two of those rows name no test at all. The design, science and agriculture bachelor's degrees and the Executive MBA are listed with a marks or experience bar and nothing beside it on the programs page, so ask the admission office what actually decides an offer there before assuming merit alone does.
Two structural options change what the degree certificate finally says, and both are decided in the second year rather than at admission. A minor needs 16 additional credits and a CGPA of 7.0 at the end of the fourth semester and carries a fee of Rs. 20,000 payable in two installments, with a merit scholarship of Rs. 5000 for students at a CGPA of 7.5 and above; honours needs 18 additional credits and a CGPA of 7.5 at the same point and costs Rs. 25,000, also in two installments, per the minors and honours page, which states both amounts for the 2022-23 academic year. Minors are offered in Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Modern Agriculture, and students already majoring in the parent discipline are excluded from each. The same page opens a branch change at the end of the first year, into any engineering programme or into BBA, allotted on first-year CGPA and subject to seats, with no further change permitted afterwards.
Admissions
The single most useful thing to know here is that no one entrance test controls the campus. B.Tech candidates may qualify through JEE-Main, through a state engineering entrance including EAPCET, or on merit in sports or cultural activities; BBA, BCA and B.Com candidates sit a written test and an interview run by the university itself; the MBA runs its own SRUMAT, waived for anyone above 50 percentile in CAT, XAT, MAT, GMAT, GRE or ATMA, or above 295 in the GRE, 450 in the GMAT or 160 in CMAT or NMAT, all set out on the programs page. A JEE-Main score buys nothing at the business and computer applications end of this campus, where the university's own written test is the only door.
What that list leaves out is who allots the seat. For B.Tech the answer is split: the university's own office admits directly, and the Telangana convener also allots seats here through TG EAPCET counselling, where the institution appears under code SRHP in the 2025 final phase last rank statement. Ask which of the two is offering you the seat before you accept it, because only one of them publishes a closing rank.
Doctoral entry has a route that skips the master's degree entirely. A four-year B.Tech holder with 75% or a 7.0 CGPA can be admitted directly to the Ph.D., and candidates holding NET, SET, SLET or GATE are exempted from the written test and go straight to interview, on that same programs page. For the 2026 cycle the last date to submit a doctoral application was 5 June 2026, with the online written examination and interview between 15 and 17 June 2026, per the admissions page. That window has closed, so ask the office when the next one opens.
Timing is priced into the offer here, which is unusual enough to plan around. Confirming admission before 30 November brings a tuition concession and waives the Rs 25,000 admission fee, per the admissions page, so the discount is earned by the calendar rather than by a rank and it rewards the candidate who has stopped waiting on other lists.
Domicile is where the state statute reaches into the admission list. Section 33 of the Act reserves 25% of the seats in courses run by a private university exclusively for students of Telangana on the basis of domicile, and section 32 continues, inside the new university, whatever rule of reservation the predecessor institution already applied to its existing seats, in the Telangana State Private Universities Act, 2018. A Telangana candidate should ask the admission office which seats in the branch they want are counted against that quarter share.
Cutoff
The campus publishes no closing rank of its own, but the state convener does, and the code the university prints on every page is what to look it up under. SRHP is entered in the TG EAPCET 2025 final phase last rank statement as SR University, formerly S R Engineering College, at Hasanparthy, and the same row names SR University itself in the affiliated-to column where the private colleges around it name JNTUH. A share of these B.Tech seats is filled by the convener on a TG EAPCET rank, not by the university's own office, and that is the part of the admission process the campus site never spells out.
| B.Tech branch | Closing rank, OC boys | Closing rank, OC girls |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | 18129 | 20946 |
| Electronics and Communication Engineering | 29700 | 32955 |
| Electrical and Electronics Engineering | 55162 | 59272 |
| Civil Engineering | 62164 | 62164 |
| Mechanical Engineering | 86900 | 86900 |
Read the column top to bottom and the branch premium is the whole story: the computer science list shut at 18129 while mechanical was still admitting at 86900, in the same phase, on the same campus, in the same year. Which phase a rank comes from changes it too, and not in the direction most people assume: civil engineering shows a last admitted OC boy at 74567 in the first phase and at 62164 by the final one, so the bar tightened as the rounds went on rather than slackening. Make whoever quotes you a rank say which phase it came from. Seats filled outside convener counselling carry no published closing rank at all.
What the university does publish is a floor rather than a rank. The qualifying bars are marks based and they differ by programme: 60% marks in 10+2 for B.Tech, 70% of marks for the International Engineering Program, 55% of marks for the design, science and agriculture degrees, 50% of marks for BBA, BCA and B.Com, and 45% of marks for BPT and the allied health B.Sc degrees, on the programs page. Those percentages decide eligibility, and they say nothing about how the 660 computer science places fill against the 60 civil ones, in the CSE and Civil filings, which is the question a candidate is really asking.
Placements
Three placement numbers circulate for this campus and two of them come from the university itself. Its placements page advertises a highest package of 51 LPA, a top 10 percentile average of 21 LPA, an average package of 6.5 LPA, an employment rate of 97%, 150-plus recruiters and 25 industry partners, along with more than 1300 offers counted for the 2026 batch up to April; the counter strip on its own homepage puts campus placements at 95% and up instead. Neither page says which cohort it is counting. The figures filed with the ranking framework count graduates rather than offers.
| Undergraduate cohort | Graduating in minimum stipulated time | Placed | Median salary | Went to higher studies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2021-22 | 616 | 472 | Rs 4,00,000 | 65 |
| 2022-23 | 622 | 414 | Rs 4,01,988 | 108 |
| 2023-24 | 873 | 708 | Rs 6,00,000 | 153 |
Set the three side by side and only one of them defines itself. The placements page does not say what its 97% is a percentage of, or which cohort it covers, while the NIRF 2025 data submission states exactly what its 708 out of 873 counts, students who finished in the stipulated time and were placed, with another 153 leaving for higher studies.
The 51 LPA is the one headline on the campus page with a name attached to it, credited to Microsoft on that same placements page, which also puts its highest internship stipend at 1.1 lakhs per month. The 97% and the 6.5 LPA average carry no such attribution, and the same page's older block for the batches leaving between 2020 and 2023 pairs that identical 97% with a highest package of 29.36 LPA and an average of 5.25 LPA, so the rate has been reused across cohorts whose packages differ sharply.
One document does at least date them. The School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence's admission brochure prints the same Microsoft high and the same average package against the outgoing batch it names, and puts twenty-one named graduates beside them, each with an employer logo and a package printed under the face.
The postgraduate side is smaller and its placement share has been climbing while its intake shrank.
| Postgraduate cohort | Graduating in minimum stipulated time | Placed | Median salary | Went to higher studies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2021-22 | 108 | 72 | Rs 4,50,000 | 11 |
| 2022-23 | 81 | 63 | Rs 4,80,000 | 9 |
| 2023-24 | 72 | 64 | Rs 6,00,000 | 6 |
Branch by branch, the accreditation filings give a further measure that none of the others reports. Each of the five core engineering programmes calculates a placement index combining placement, higher studies and entrepreneurship over three graduating years, though not the same three: the computer science, electrical and mechanical filings average the batches of 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21, the electronics and civil filings run a year later, and the civil one prints a malformed academic year, 2019-18, for the earliest of its three. Computer Science and Engineering averaged 85.17, Electronics and Communication 81.87, Mechanical Engineering 81.20, Electrical and Electronics 77.10 and Civil Engineering 71.98, in the data capturing documents published for CSE, ECE, Mechanical, EEE and Civil. The spread between the top and bottom branch is wide enough to matter more than the campus average.
Recruiter logos on the placements page run from Microsoft, Cisco, Amazon, JP Morgan, IBM, Deloitte, Capgemini, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys and BNP Paribas through to agribusiness and seed companies including Syngenta, Coromandel, Mahyco and VNR Seeds, which is the School of Agriculture showing up in the placement record rather than a stray logo.
Seat Matrix
Branch level seat counts are published here, and they show a campus rebuilt around computing. The sanctioned intake tables in the five accreditation filings run seven years back.
| B.Tech branch | 2019-20 | 2020-21 | 2022-23 | 2025-26 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | 180 | 330 | 420 | 660 |
| Electronics and Communication Engineering | 180 | 180 | 180 | 180 |
| Electrical and Electronics Engineering | 120 | 120 | 120 | 120 |
| Mechanical Engineering | 120 | 120 | 60 | 60 |
| Civil Engineering | 120 | 120 | 60 | 60 |
Computer Science grew from 180 seats to 660 across those years while Mechanical and Civil halved from 120 to 60 each, on the same CSE and Civil filings. A civil or mechanical applicant is joining a department half the size it was when this campus became a university.
The whole-institution numbers tell the same story at a coarser resolution. Sanctioned undergraduate intake across all four-year programmes ran at 1080 from 2020-21 to 2022-23 and rose to 1590 in 2023-24, with postgraduate intake at 96, per the NIRF 2025 data submission. That same return records 719 first-year students admitted against an intake of 720 in 2018-19, and 720 against 720 in 2019-20, years for which its sanctioned intake row is blank.
Who actually fills those seats is worth reading beside the intake. The undergraduate roll stood at 4869 students, 2456 male and 2413 female, of whom 3356 came from within Telangana, 1477 from other states and 36 from outside India, with 180 students on the two-year postgraduate programmes, in that same submission. Close to a third of the undergraduate body has moved states to be here.
Rankings
The score has gone up in every edition and the rank has not, which is what a table filling up with stronger entrants looks like from inside.
| NIRF Engineering | Rank | Score | Teaching and resources | Research | Graduation outcomes | Outreach | Perception |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020, entered as SR Engineering College | 160 | 32.95 | 62.29 | 1.91 | 31.20 | 62.13 | 12.38 |
| 2021 | 134 | 36.11 | 62.51 | 6.49 | 41.74 | 62.54 | 8.07 |
| 2022 | 91 | 40.69 | 65.51 | 13.28 | 47.90 | 62.23 | 12.59 |
| 2023 | 98 | 42.09 | 65.32 | 15.79 | 51.98 | 62.66 | 10.79 |
| 2024 | 98 | 44.29 | 71.12 | 16.67 | 53.31 | 63.59 | 9.34 |
| 2025 | 91 | 47.16 | 73.64 | 21.78 | 55.79 | 64.97 | 8.76 |
Engineering is the only 2025 table that gives this university a number, but it is not the only one it lands in. The framework also puts it in the 101-150 band of its University ranking. On the Overall ranking it sits lower still, in the 151-200 band. Both bands are published as alphabetical lists with no rank, no score and no parameter breakdown behind them, and the university also submitted to the Management framework without placing in its ranked table at all. Anyone quoting a single NIRF number for this campus is quoting the engineering one, because it is the only one that exists.
Perception is the one parameter that has been moving the wrong way lately: it climbed into 2022 and has fallen in every edition since. Teaching and resources went the other way, dipping once from 65.51 in the 2022 ranking to 65.32 in the 2023 ranking and rising in every edition after that. Perception measures how employers and academic peers rate an institution, and at 8.76 in the 2025 ranking it is the weight dragging an otherwise improving card. Reputation lags investment by years, and this university has only been running under its own name since 2020.
The press cuttings the university keeps of that climb are missing the year it first cracked the top hundred. Its media page reports 160th in the engineering category in 2020 and 134th in 2021 before jumping to 98th in 2023, and carries no clipping for 2022, the year the framework put it at 91 on a score of 40.69 in the 2022 ranking, a better placing than the 2023 result it does report. The quality cell does log that year, as a bare tile on its rankings page alongside every edition from 2021 on. Teaching and resources at 73.64 in the 2025 ranking is now the strongest thing on the card, and research at 21.78 the weakest after perception.
Its own NIRF page carries tiles for Overall, Engineering, Management, Innovation and SDG, and every one of them opens the same placeholder screen reading Loading, so not one of the submissions behind them can be read where the university points you.
Beyond NIRF, its 2026 placing in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings falls in the 801-1000 band, with subject placings of 601-800 in both computer science and engineering, on Times Higher Education's own page for the university; the quality cell also lists the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and the UI GreenMetric on its rankings page. A band two hundred places wide settles far less about which Indian campus to join than the engineering scorecard does.
Departments
Research here is organised into named centres rather than left inside departments, and there are more of them than there are schools. The academics page lists the Nest for Entrepreneurship in Science and Technology, the Center for Creative Cognition, the Center for Design, the Center for Embedded Systems and IoT, the Center for AI and Deep Learning, the Collaboratory for Social Innovation, the Center for Materials and Manufacturing, the Center for Emerging Energy Technologies, the Center for Construction Methods and Materials, the Center for Experiential Learning, the Center for Nanomaterials and the Center for Informetrics and Statistics.
Doctoral numbers are large for an institution this young. Enrolment reached 333 full-time and 122 part-time scholars by 2023-24, a year in which the doctorate went to 3 full-time and 2 part-time candidates, where the corresponding pair for 2021-22 was 5 and 7, per the NIRF 2025 data submission. Enrolment on that scale set against single-figure completions is the question to put to a prospective supervisor.
The money behind the research score is smaller than the scholar count implies, and it is moving from grants towards consultancy. The count of sponsored projects went 9, then 8, then 4 across 2021-22 to 2023-24, with Rs 22,16,320 received in the last of those years, and consultancy, which recorded nothing at all in 2021-22, reached 21 projects for 36 client organisations worth Rs 28,39,456 by 2023-24, in that same submission. Consultancy income now exceeds sponsored research income here, which is a particular kind of research culture and worth knowing before joining it.
Incubation is the part of the research operation with the longest public record. SR Innovation Exchange, chaired by the Pro-Chancellor, runs over 30,000 sq. ft. of workspace including a rapid prototyping zone and maker space, has cumulatively invested over Rs. 7 crores in 43 startups, and reports incubating 110 startups including 10 women led ones whose founders have secured over Rs. 32 crore from venture capitalists and created over 400 jobs, on the about page. Its support to a single startup runs from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 50 lakhs.
Doctoral funding is where the university has put real money on the table. The Chancellor's Fellowship pays Rs 1,00,000 a month to full-time scholars in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence with strong coding and AI skills, the regular full-time fellowship pays Rs 40,000 a month across engineering, agriculture, sciences, humanities and management, and post-doctoral fellows are paid Rs 60,000, Rs 70,000 or Rs 1,20,000 a month depending on discipline, per the admissions page. The post-doctoral award runs for six months in the first instance and may be extended by another six on performance.
Facilities & Infrastructure
The library is documented to a level of detail that nothing else on this campus matches. As on 31 March 2024 it held 49,948 books across 9,319 titles, 3150 CD-ROMs and e-books and 195 pamphlets, subscribed to 66 current journals and 13 magazines, provided access to 30,000 online journals, carried 7,374 members and circulated 19671 books in 2023-24, with 11 staff, per the university library page. Books alone are valued there at Rs 1,98,75,548.
Laboratory equipment is the heaviest capital line in the annual accounts, and it has more than doubled in two years. New equipment and software for laboratories took Rs 11,18,69,584 in 2023-24 against Rs 4,81,87,931 in 2021-22, engineering workshops took Rs 4,10,56,677 and library capital spend rose to Rs 74,14,563 in the same year, in the NIRF 2025 data submission.
Accessibility is answered in the same return, in the framework's own graded wording. Nothing in the return claims full coverage of the estate: both building answers stop at more than 80%, one for lifts or ramps and one for specially designed toilets, though wheelchairs, walking aids and inter-block transport are each answered yes, in that submission. More than 80% is not all, so a student who needs step-free access should ask which blocks are the exception.
Health cover and daily services sit on the campus rather than in town. A dispensary operates on the 170 acre site with an ambulance stationed there, professional counselors keep regular hours in a counseling centre, teaching staff live in the hostels, and a stationary shop and a laundry run alongside them, per the campus life page and the about page.
Sport runs through a Department of Physical Education with grounds and courts for cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, throwball, kho kho, kabaddi, badminton, table tennis, chess and carrom, plus a gym, on the campus life page. The university has run its own SR Cricket Champions Trophy for sixteen years, drawing universities and engineering colleges from across south India, on that same page.
Hostel
Hostel rooms here are described in some detail and priced in almost none. Rooms accommodate 3 per room and come in AC and non AC versions, with wifi, a TV room, a visitors lounge, an indoor games room, a study room, a gym, USB outlets, round the clock medical access, a stationary shop and laundry, per the campus life page, which stops before any figure for what a year in one costs. That AC and non AC split is the closest thing on the page to a price signal, because the two cannot plausibly cost the same.
One hostel rate appears anywhere on the site and it belongs to the Melbourne pathway alone, at Rs 1 lac a year, per the study abroad page. Nothing suggests that rate carries across to a B.Tech or BBA bed, so ask the admission office for the figure attached to your own programme, and for what separates an AC room from a non AC one.
Demand for beds is not marginal at a campus where close to a third of the undergraduate roll has crossed a state line to get here. Ask how allotment is prioritised in a year when out of state admissions rise faster than the blocks do, and whether an AC room can be requested rather than allotted.
Faculty
Payroll is where this university's growth shows up most plainly. The university entered 360 faculty members in its ranking return, and its salary expenditure for teaching and non-teaching staff rose to Rs 55,31,79,673 in 2023-24 from Rs 30,65,23,859 in 2021-22, per the NIRF 2025 data submission. That is an 80% rise between the earliest and the latest of the three years the return sets side by side. Set that beside what the campus advertises about itself: the counter strip under the WHY SRU heading on the homepage claims 7500 faculty members, where the ranking return for this same institution enters 360, and the strip's student and alumni counts sit at the scale the about page gives for the whole Sri Rajeshwara Educational Society rather than for this campus.
That headcount is published as named directories rather than left as a total, and how it splits between them is the part worth reading. Separate directories run for Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business, Agriculture and the sciences, and the computer science list carries more than ten times as many names as the civil one, which runs to twelve. The teaching body has been rebuilt around computing in the same proportion as the seat matrix.
Where each doctorate was earned is printed beside the name in the school brochures rather than buried inside a profile. The School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence's 2026 admission brochure captions two dozen portraits with the awarding institution, five of them NIT Warangal, with IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, IIIT Raipur, IIITDM Jabalpur, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Tiruchirappalli, NIT Jamshedpur and VNIT Nagpur among the rest, and post-doctoral stints at IIT Bombay and at universities in South Korea and Turkey.
Departmental leadership is named in the accreditation filings alongside the appointment type, which is the harder question. The head of the Computer Science and Engineering department is entered as Dr Sandeep Ch. in the NBA data capturing document for CSE, where the same tables record whether each appointment is regular, contract or ad hoc, and the live computer science directory still carries the same person, in full, as Associate Professor and Head of CS and AI. Civil has turned over since its own filing: that document enters Dr Padala Rajashekar as head of department where the live civil directory now shows Dr P Swamy Naga Ratna Giri in the post, with an associate head named beneath him. Read the filing for the regular-versus-contract split of a department, then read the directory for who is actually running it, before choosing a supervisor out of either.
Notable Alumni
There is no published list of notable alumni for this university, and the calendar explains most of it. Degrees have carried the university's own name only since the state declared it in May 2020, per its media page, which leaves it too young to have produced a senior professional under that name. What exists instead is an alumni sign-up link in the main menu of the homepage, which registers graduates at alumni.sru.edu.in rather than listing them. The convocation entry that sat beside it has been commented out of that menu's markup, and the convocation page it pointed at still shows the 2025 ceremony, with registration opening on 25 May and closing on 6 June 2025.
The recognitions the university does publicise belong to its staff, and the distinction is worth holding. Its about page records an Academician Excellence Award for the Dean of the School of Business from the Hyderabad Management Association, a National Entrepreneurship Award in the ecosystem builder category and a Chevening Fellowship, both to the same staff member, and an Education Leadership Award from the Dewang Mehta National Education Awards. Those are faculty and management honours, not graduate outcomes.
Anyone trying to trace older graduates is looking for a different institution, not just an older name. SR Engineering College describes itself on its own about page as an autonomous institution accredited by NAAC and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, at the same Ananthasagar address this university uses. It still runs an examination branch from that college site, and what it posts there now is supplementary and one-time-chance papers, the most recent a special supplementary end term timetable for July 2026. The three graduate testimonials on the university's own homepage fit the same pattern: each is captioned with a department and a batch, and those batches ended in 2010, 2014 and 2019.
News & Articles
The university's own media page reads as a founding chronology and then stops. It carries the Telangana government's declaration of the university in May 2020, the appointment of its first Vice-Chancellor in June 2020, a Microsoft tie-up for deep-tech B.Tech programmes in August 2020, and NIRF placements of 160th in 2020, 134th in 2021 and 98th in 2023, on its media page. Nothing later than 2023 appears there.
One item on that page is a useful correction to how the institution is often described. The New Indian Express coverage of the ARIIA 2020 innovation ranking, listed on that same media page, reports the achievement under the name SREC, the Warangal college, while the university's own headline above it claims the result for SRU. Both descriptions are of the same campus in the same year, which is exactly the ambiguity a prospective student runs into everywhere else.
Current activity is published elsewhere rather than there. The announcement bar and media strip on the homepage carry everything the media page has missed since 2023: ICAR accreditation for agriculture, the 801-1000 placing in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, the NIRF 2025 rank, a Junior Research Fellow post on a DRDO-sponsored project, a national project expo on 9 October 2026 and a smart-systems conference on campus from 28 to 30 July 2026. The quality cell keeps its own feedback analysis page, with the action taken reports filed on a separate page beside it.
College Compare
What separates SR University from the institutions on either side of it in the 2025 table is not the total, which they share to within a point, but which parameter each of them earns that total on.
| NIRF 2025 Engineering rank | Institution | Score | Research | Perception |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 89 | Chitkara University | 47.34 | 49.46 | 5.41 |
| 90 | COEP Technological University | 47.31 | 24.82 | 28.82 |
| 91 | SR University | 47.16 | 21.78 | 8.76 |
| 92 | Defence Institute of Advanced Technology | 46.98 | 36.01 | 4.45 |
| 93 | Panjab University | 46.90 | 44.46 | 15.75 |
Every one of those four neighbours out-scores this campus on research and three of them do so by a wide margin, while SR University reaches almost the same overall score on teaching and resources of 73.64 against Chitkara's 50.97 and COEP's 61.16, on the 2025 ranking. An undergraduate is buying the teaching score; a research applicant is buying the research one.
The comparison a Warangal family will actually make is with the institute up the road. National Institute of Technology Warangal sits at rank 28 with a score of 61.05 on the same 2025 ranking, and the two campuses share a city and almost nothing else, least of all an admission process: one fills through a national counselling system on a JEE Main rank, the other through a mix of state counselling, its own test and direct application. Across Telangana that table also carries IIT Hyderabad at 7, IIIT Hyderabad at 38, the University of Hyderabad at 74 and JNTU Hyderabad at 94, and SR University is the only one of them set up under the state's private universities Act.

Two addresses carry this university's name and neither is tied to a function. The footer of the homepage sets the campus at Ananthasagar in Hasanparthy beside a corporate office at Somajiguda in Hyderabad and says nothing about which work is done where, so send anything academic to the campus address and ask before posting to the other.
The setting is a regional city rather than a metro, which the university treats as part of its case. Its about page describes the Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet tri-city area and names the IT special economic zone, Cyient, Tech Mahindra, Quadrant Resource and the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park as the local employers it is positioned against. Visit before the preference form is due, because the distance from Hyderabad shapes internships as much as it shapes weekends.

Approvals & Accreditation
Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.
Engineering accreditation here stops at the five original branches. The university publishes National Board of Accreditation data capturing documents for Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication and Computer Science and Engineering on its NBA page, and its about page claims Tier-I accreditation for those same five. Every newer B.Tech specialisation on the programmes list, from data science to cybersecurity to electric vehicles, sits outside that set.
One accreditation lies outside engineering altogether, and the university has put it on the front page rather than in the quality cell. A banner on the homepage announces ICAR accreditation for both the School of Agriculture and the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme, and claims to be the first private university in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to hold it. That banner links no order and names no validity period, so ask for the letter itself if agriculture is the reason you are applying.
The filings themselves are more specific than the claim, and the dates are the part to read. The Computer Science and Engineering document records accreditation granted for three years covering 2019 to 2022 and for a further three years covering 2022 to 2025 upon submission of a compliance report, in the NBA data capturing document for CSE. That second window ended in 2025, and nothing published on the site shows what replaced it. Ask the university for its current accreditation letter and its expiry date rather than relying on the page.
Institutional accreditation sits with a different council, and the grade it awarded is easier to find on the council's site than on the university's. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council's list of institutions holding valid accreditation, published from its accreditation status page, records SR University at B++, awarded in its first accreditation cycle.
The grade the university's own pages advertise is a different one, and it belongs to the college. The link-preview description tag that search engines and social cards read, but no visitor sees, carries the words NAAC Accreditation with A Grade on the about, programs, admissions, placements, library and NIRF pages alike, though not on the homepage, which ships no such tag; the A-grade badge images sit commented out of the visible markup on the homepage and the about page. SR Engineering College is the institution that holds that A: it describes itself on its own about page as an autonomous institution accredited by NAAC with A Grade and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. Two institutions, two grades, and the college's is the one riding in the university's metadata.
What the quality cell puts on display is neither. Its NAAC page has exactly one live document under the NAAC Reports heading, a 2024 student satisfaction survey questionnaire; a self study report and three annual quality assurance reports are written into that page and commented out of the markup, so no grade, peer team or validity period appears there at all. Section 35 of the governing Act requires a private university to obtain accreditation from the council within five years of its programmes commencing and to inform the government of the grade awarded, in the Telangana State Private Universities Act, 2018. Ask the university for the grade sheet and its validity dates, and check them against the council's own list before you quote a grade back to anyone.
Recognition under the University Grants Commission is published as a scanned order. The university's UGC page links its inclusion under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, the clause that brings an institution within the Commission's remit, as a three-page scan with no machine-readable text in it. The power to hold examinations and confer degrees is granted separately, by the state Act that created the university.
Aid
Scholarships
The largest scholarship story at this campus is not a named award; it is the fee reimbursement machinery running behind the admission list. The government pays the whole tuition bill for 1727 undergraduates here, the university pays it for another 1161, private bodies for 107, and 895 students in the same reimbursement categories get nothing, per the NIRF 2025 data submission. The university paying for 1161 full waivers out of its own funds is the most consequential figure on that return for a family weighing the sticker price.
The named concessions are smaller and mostly attached to timing or to doctoral study. Confirming admission before 30 November brings a 10% extra scholarship on tuition fee and a waiver of the Rs 25,000 admission fee, while a Doctor of Science candidate may receive a waiver of up to 30% on the evaluation fee, considered for alumni, specially abled candidates, candidates from a defence background, SC, BC and OBC candidates, and widowed or divorced candidates, per the admissions page.
Doctoral and post-doctoral money is paid as a monthly fellowship rather than as a fee waiver: Rs 1,00,000 a month under the Chancellor's Fellowship in computer science and artificial intelligence, Rs 40,000 for other full-time doctoral scholars, and Rs 60,000, Rs 70,000 or Rs 1,20,000 for post-doctoral fellows by discipline, per the admissions page. A student looking for a general merit or means schedule will not find one, because the site's only Fee and Scholarship link, in the footer, leads to a page that returns nothing.
