National Institute Of Technology Meghalaya
Through the 2026 JoSAA rounds, general-category computer science at NIT Meghalaya closed at an All India Rank of 28,662 for a candidate who sat Class 12 outside the state and at 127,321 for one who sat it inside Meghalaya. That spread repeats down all five B.Tech branches. What produces it is the quota rather than the seat count: the home-state pool draws only on candidates whose Class 12 state code is Meghalaya, and that pool is small enough that its closing ranks run several times deeper than the all-India one. The other thing worth settling before you fill a choice list is where the campus physically is, because the institute has only lately finished moving off its temporary premises in Shillong.
Overview
NIT Meghalaya is one of the thirty-one National Institutes of Technology, governed by the NIT Act 2007 as amended in 2012, which makes it an Institute of National Importance funded entirely by the Ministry of Education (About NIT Meghalaya). Its director's report dates the founding to 2010 and counts thirteen completed years at the time it was written (Annual Report 2023-24). Its registered address is Saitsohpen, Sohra, in the East Khasi Hills, and the institute now describes that permanent campus as fully functional, with academic buildings, hostels, an administrative block and faculty residences in use (About NIT Meghalaya).
That sentence is newer than most of the institute's history. Its Annual Report for 2023-24 still recorded the working address as the Bijni Complex at Laitumkhrah in Shillong, with Sohra listed separately as the permanent campus and the shift rescheduled to August 2024 (NIT Meghalaya Annual Report 2023-24). Anyone reading older pages should expect the two addresses to appear side by side for a while, and the Ministry of Education's ranking tables still file the institute under Shillong (NIRF 2025 engineering ranking).
It is a small institute by the standards of the system it belongs to. The NIRF 2025 return counts 640 undergraduates and 37 postgraduates on roll, with 290 of the undergraduates from within Meghalaya, 323 from other states and 27 from outside the country (NIT Meghalaya NIRF 2025 data return). A single admission year adds a couple of hundred people to that: 271 students were admitted across every programme in 2023-24, doctoral scholars included (Annual Report 2023-24).
Courses & Fees
Five B.Tech branches admit here, one for each of the engineering departments: computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and civil engineering (undergraduate programmes). A second undergraduate route has since appeared alongside them. The Integrated Teacher Education Programme is a four-year dual-major degree ending in a combined B.Sc. B.Ed., built to the National Education Policy 2020 template for students from a science background who want the teaching qualification at the same time as the degree (Integrated Teacher Education Programme). Its department page gives approval status as an NCTE letter-of-intent reference rather than a settled sanction, so confirm the current intake with the department before planning around it.
| Programme | Duration | How you get in |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech | Four years | JEE Main rank, allotted through JoSAA and then CSAB |
| M.Tech | Two years | GATE score through CCMT, then an institute test for leftover seats |
| M.Sc | Two years | IIT JAM through CCMN, then an institute test for leftover seats |
| MCA | Three years | NIMCET score |
| Ph.D | Varies | Written test, then viva-voce or presentation |
Each M.Tech carries one named specialisation rather than a menu: structural engineering in civil, VLSI and embedded systems in electronics and communication, power and energy systems in electrical, and fluids and thermal engineering in mechanical (Annual Report 2023-24). The M.Sc runs in physics, chemistry and mathematics (postgraduate programmes).
Tuition is billed by the semester and differs sharply by level: Rs 62,500 for a B.Tech seat, Rs 35,000 for an M.Tech or MCA seat and Rs 7,500 for an M.Sc or full-time doctoral seat, on the sheet the academic affairs office signs for new admissions (NIT Meghalaya fee structures, Careers360 course and fee listing). Around that sit one-time heads for the identity card, the degree certificate, the students' welfare fund, the alumni fee and a refundable institute caution deposit, and per-semester heads for examination and grade card, registration, library, laboratory, internet, student activity, transport and medical charges, with a group medical insurance premium taken every autumn.
Two details on that sheet decide what a family actually transfers before reporting day, and neither survives being summarised as an annual fee. The tuition line is struck out entirely for SC, ST and PH candidates, and hostel charges are billed to a separate institute account rather than folded into the academic bill, so the sheet carries four different admission totals depending on category and whether a hostel seat is taken. A new version is signed and reissued every semester; read the one on the download page in the month you join and total your own row.
Tuition remission goes well beyond those three categories. The institute applies the Ministry of Education rule in force since 2016 that remits tuition in full below an annual family income of one lakh and by two thirds between one and five lakhs (Annual Report 2023-24). How far that reaches is visible in the ranking return, and it reaches almost everyone eligible.
| Full tuition reimbursement, undergraduates, NIRF 2025 return | Students |
|---|---|
| From institute funds | 460 |
| From state and central government schemes | 7 |
| From private bodies | 3 |
| Receiving no full reimbursement | 90 |
Government scholarship schemes barely register on this campus. Seven undergraduates draw a full tuition reimbursement from state and central schemes; the institute's own budget carries 460 of them (NIRF 2025 data return). Above the undergraduate level the money runs the other way: an M.Sc student with a family income within the merit-cum-means limit and a CGPA of 8.5 or better can hold that scholarship, two doctoral scholars were selected in 2022-23 under the Outstanding Research Fellowship Scheme at Rs 50,000 a month, and an institute post-doctoral fellow is paid Rs 55,000 a month (Annual Report 2023-24).
Two academic options here cost nothing extra and are worth knowing before the fee stage. A student may register for a minor degree offered by another department from the third semester, provided the CGPA at the end of the second semester is 7.5 or above. The institute also allows a six-month undergraduate internship across the seventh or eighth semester where the placement is substantial and connects to the research the student is already doing, an option that is worth more at a campus this far from any industrial belt than the same clause would be elsewhere (Annual Report 2023-24).
Admissions
A B.Tech seat is filled from a JEE Main score through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, with whatever is left passing to the CSAB special rounds (undergraduate programmes). Nothing else opens the door: JEE Advanced counts for nothing here, the institute sets no entrance paper of its own at undergraduate level, and there is no seat to buy.
The quota that decides the rank you need is worth reading in the operating rules rather than in paraphrase. The JoSAA 2026 business rules split every NIT programme into a Home State quota and an Other States quota, and reserve the home-state pool strictly for candidates whose state code of eligibility matches the state the institute sits in (JoSAA 2026 business rules). That state code is set by where you first appeared for the Class 12 examination, not by where you live or where your family is from, and appearing again from another state for improvement does not move it. The same rules fix a stated home-state share only for NIT Goa and NIT Srinagar, both with their own internal splits; for every other NIT, including this one, the number of seats in each pool comes from the seat matrix the institute files and JoSAA publishes before choice filling (JoSAA 2026 business rules). Treat the current cycle's matrix as the answer, not a percentage quoted second hand.
The institute runs a physical help desk through the counselling season, which is worth knowing if you are filling choices from inside the region and would rather ask a person than a helpline. A JoSAA and CSAB help centre operates at the Computer Centre on the Sohra campus from 2 June 2026 until seat allotment closes, staffed on non-reporting days as well, with a designated staff member and two named faculty members reachable for registration, choice filling, document upload and verification queries (UG admission).
Postgraduate entry never touches JoSAA. M.Tech admission runs on a GATE score through CCMT, and seats vacant after CCMT are offered to sponsored and GATE-qualified candidates through an institute entrance examination; the M.Sc runs on an IIT JAM score through CCMN with the same institute-test fallback, and the MCA is filled on NIMCET (postgraduate programmes, Annual Report 2023-24). Doctoral admission is decided by a written examination followed by a viva-voce or a presentation, and the advertisement usually appears in May or June (Ph.D programmes). International candidates come through ICCR, Study in India and DASA rather than counselling, and 28 of them were on roll across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes when the Annual Report was written (Annual Report 2023-24).
Cutoff
A closing rank here is the position of the last candidate a branch reached before it filled, in one quota, in one category, in one round. Two of them exist for every branch here, and the distance between the pair runs into six figures.
| Branch, general category closing rank | 2026 other state | 2026 home state | 2025 other state | 2025 home state | 2024 other state | 2024 home state |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | 28,662 | 1,27,321 | 24,074 | 61,100 | 20,039 | 31,545 |
| Electronics and Communication Engineering | 34,994 | 1,49,045 | 31,476 | 1,46,176 | 29,484 | 1,02,988 |
| Electrical Engineering | 44,300 | 1,51,607 | 43,231 | 1,46,012 | 36,106 | 1,88,231 |
| Mechanical Engineering | 50,947 | 2,26,660 | 47,505 | 1,36,427 | 48,332 | 1,62,491 |
| Civil Engineering | 58,913 | 2,30,791 | 52,450 | 3,18,381 | 49,836 | 1,69,930 |
Read the home-state column as a range to plan inside rather than a line to clear, because it moves further in a year than the other-state column moves in three. Home-state computer science went 31,545, then 61,100, then 127,321 across the last three cycles while the other-state figure drifted from 20,039 to 28,662 over the same span (Collegedunia). Mechanical and civil are noisier still, with the home-state civil line falling from 318,381 to 230,791 between 2025 and 2026.
Taken across all five branches at once rather than branch by branch, the reserved lists close well ahead of the general one. In 2026 the last scheduled tribe candidate admitted anywhere in the B.Tech held rank 2,797 in the other-state pool and 24,195 in the home state, and the last scheduled caste candidate 8,287 and 33,753, against a general figure of 58,913 and 230,791 on the same all-branch basis (Collegedunia).
The rounds after JoSAA are where this campus differs most from a bigger NIT, and the table above does not show them. When CSAB special counselling reopened the leftover seats in 2026, computer science here went on filling to rank 134,256 in the other-state pool and 521,360 in the home state, against 28,662 and 127,321 through JoSAA; electronics and communication ran out to 888,879 in the other-state pool (Collegedunia). A candidate who treats the JoSAA line as the whole story will write this institute off several months too early. Whichever figure you are working from, the file that actually decides a seat is the opening and closing rank archive JoSAA publishes itself, which can be filtered down to one year, one round, one institute, one programme and one seat type (JoSAA opening and closing rank archive).
Placements
Undergraduate hiring has improved slowly and from a low base, and the ranking return is the cleanest place to see it because it counts people rather than offers.
| B.Tech outcomes, NIRF 2025 return | 2021-22 | 2022-23 | 2023-24 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Graduating in the stipulated time | 147 | 146 | 140 |
| Placed | 91 | 118 | 112 |
| Higher studies | 5 | 11 | 25 |
| Median salary | Rs 9,45,000 | Rs 10,00,000 | Rs 10,50,000 |
Higher study is the row that changed shape, from 5 students to 11 to 25 in two years while the graduating cohort held roughly steady (NIRF 2025 data return). The postgraduate picture is thinner in every direction, and thin enough that percentages stop meaning much: the whole two-year cohort finishing on time in 2023-24 came to 9 people, 5 of whom were placed and 4 of whom carried on studying, at a median of Rs 7,50,000 (NIRF 2025 data return).
Its Annual Report goes past the headline and prints the recruiter list itself, with offer counts and packages against each name.
| Recruiter, B.Tech, 2023-24 | Offers | Package, Rs lakh a year |
|---|---|---|
| Wayspire | 19 | 5.4 |
| High-Technext Engineering and Telecom | 9 | 3.6 |
| KEC | 8 | 6.5 |
| L&T | 5 | 6.5 |
| Narayana | 5 | 6 |
| Mahindra and Mahindra | 4 | 8 |
| Sagacious IP | 4 | 7.5 |
| Vedanta | 3 | 11.45 |
| Winjit | 3 | 12 |
| Amazon, off campus | 2 | 46.3 |
Two things fall out of that table that a headline number hides. Most of the offers sat between 3 and 8 lakhs a year, and the top figure of 46.3 lakhs was two off-campus offers, which the report labels as such; the report's own summary of the same year puts the B.Tech average at 8.1 lakhs and the lowest offer at 3 (Annual Report 2023-24). The M.Tech side that year was smaller and narrower again: three offers from PP Savani University at 5.4, two from Parul University at 7.2 and one from Kalvium at 5, an average of 6.6 lakhs, and every one of those employers was an education company (Annual Report 2023-24).
The current season looks broader. The Centre for Career Development reports 180 offers for the 2025-2026 session up to May 2026, a highest CTC of 45.5 lakhs and an average of 9.94 lakhs, with ServiceNow, JPMorgan Chase, BP, ZS Associates, Deloitte, IBM, Oracle, Siemens, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank among the names on its recruiter list (Centre for Career Development). That average is taken over offers made, while the Annual Report's average of 8.1 lakhs covers a different year's offers (Annual Report 2023-24) and the ranking return's Rs 10,50,000 is a median over the people it could confirm were placed (NIRF 2025 data return). Offers, people and years are three different denominators, and a figure quoted without naming which one it uses is quoting selectively.
Seat Matrix
Two official filings count the intake differently, and both are worth having. The Annual Report gives a branch-level capacity of 33 seats for each of the five B.Tech branches, 165 in all, against which 164 students were actually admitted in 2023-24; the NIRF return records the sanctioned undergraduate intake for the same year as 172 (Annual Report 2023-24, NIRF 2025 data return).
| Programme, 2023-24 | Sanctioned capacity | Admitted |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech, Civil Engineering | 33 | 28 |
| B.Tech, Computer Science and Engineering | 33 | 36 |
| B.Tech, Electronics and Communication Engineering | 33 | 33 |
| B.Tech, Electrical Engineering | 33 | 33 |
| B.Tech, Mechanical Engineering | 33 | 34 |
| M.Tech, five specialisations | 100 | 25 |
| M.Sc, three subjects | 48 | 40 |
Computer science and mechanical went over capacity because supernumerary seats sit outside the sanctioned figure, and civil finished five short. The gap that should change a plan is at the postgraduate level, where 25 students took up 100 M.Tech seats; the NIRF return shows the same collapse from its own side, recording 12 first-year postgraduate admissions against a sanctioned 125 for 2022-23, the last entry year it carries (NIRF 2025 data return). Doctoral admissions came to 42 that year, well ahead of the M.Tech figure (Annual Report 2023-24). Anyone hoping to join in the second year should know that the lateral-entry column in the ranking return reads zero for every year it covers.
The composition of the entering class follows the state around it. Of the 164 admitted to the B.Tech in 2023-24, 65 were scheduled tribe candidates, 28 other backward classes and 16 scheduled caste, and 43 were women (Annual Report 2023-24). Scheduled tribe candidates were by some distance the largest reserved block in that intake, which is what a home-state pool drawn from a tribal-majority state produces.
Rankings
Engineering is the only one of the government's national lists this institute appears on at all, and 2025 placed it 83rd there, scoring 48.21 (National Institutional Ranking Framework, engineering 2025). No overall, university or research placing exists to read beside it. The direction of travel is worth knowing too: the institute's own Annual Report records it at 72 in the 2023 engineering ranking, so the last two cycles have moved it eleven places down rather than up (Annual Report 2023-24).
| NIRF 2025 engineering component | Score |
|---|---|
| Teaching, Learning and Resources | 66.48 |
| Research and Professional Practice | 30.77 |
| Graduation Outcomes | 62.31 |
| Outreach and Inclusivity | 58.46 |
| Perception | 7.27 |
Teaching resources are the strongest leg and research output the weakest of the four substantive ones, at 30.77 against a graduation-outcomes score twice that (NIRF 2025 engineering ranking). Perception, scored by asking employers and academics across the country for an opinion, sits at 7.27, which is about what a young institute in a hill town collects from a survey of people who have never recruited there. Twenty-two NITs appear on that table and this one is the eighteenth of them, inside a band where the score stops separating anybody: Bhopal at 48.26, Jamshedpur at 48.25 and Meghalaya at 48.21 sit within five hundredths of a point (NIRF 2025 engineering ranking).
Departments
Nine departments teach here, and only five of them own a B.Tech. Civil, computer science, electrical, electronics and communication, and mechanical engineering run the undergraduate degrees; chemical and biological sciences, humanities and social sciences, mathematics and physics carry the common first-year core and run their own M.Sc and doctoral programmes (Annual Report 2023-24). The Integrated Teacher Education Programme sits alongside them as a tenth academic unit (Integrated Teacher Education Programme).
The centres are where a small faculty concentrates its specialised work: the Central Instruments Facility, the Computer Centre, a Design Innovation Centre, the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship, the Centre for Robotics and Mechatronics, the Centre for Technology Enabled Learning, the Centre for International Relations, the NITM Foundation for Innovation and Technology Incubation Centre, a Centre for Integrated Structural Health Monitoring and Solutions and the Sitimon Sawian Centre for Inclusive Education. For a judgement on one branch, the department's own faculty and publication pages under nitm.ac.in say more than any campus-wide count.
Facilities & Infrastructure
The Sohra campus is a construction project as much as an address, and the Annual Report is unusually specific about how far it has got. An amount of Rs 429.70 crore was earmarked for civil works under the revised cost estimate the Cabinet approved and the Ministry circulated on 4 March 2020, with RITES Ltd as project management consultant (Annual Report 2023-24). The administrative building, four academic blocks, the library and computer centre building, the workshop and two electrical sub-stations have been handed over; the hostels, the residential quarters and the sports complex were still being built in two priority tranches, overall physical progress stood at about 72 per cent, and an academic block was being converted temporarily into a girls' hostel (Annual Report 2023-24). The auditorium, guest house and medical centre in the original plan were foreclosed.
Research equipment arrived ahead of the buildings around it. The Central Instruments Facility was built in 2021 and inaugurated on 1 April 2022 inside the workshop building at Sohra, and holds a powder X-ray diffractometer, a fatigue fracture testing machine, a field emission scanning electron microscope and a metallic 3D printer, so a research scholar does not have to travel out of the state for routine characterisation (Annual Report 2023-24).
The central library held 15,510 printed books, 9,674 e-books, 1,462 volumes in a book bank reserved for SC and ST students and 109 theses as of 31 March 2024, subscribes to ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, the ACM Digital Library, ASCE, ASME and MathSciNet, and runs Turnitin, Grammarly and QuillBot for its research students; its budget for that year was Rs 1.5 crore with a further Rs 91,56,356 sanctioned on requirement (Annual Report 2023-24).
Connectivity at a site this remote is worth checking before you commit, and the report describes it in two halves. The network the computer centre already runs carries 1 Gbps from the National Knowledge Network over BSNL with a redundant 100 Mbps link through Powergrid, reaching the hostels across Shillong city, and it supplies VPN access and high performance computing to research scholars. At Sohra the work described is earlier: fibre laid along the boundary wall, building-to-building UTP cabling with racks, and internet connections going in (Annual Report 2023-24). Ask what bandwidth actually reaches the block you will be living in.
Access for disabled students is answered in the ranking return at the highest band the form offers, for lifts or ramps and for purpose-built toilets alike, meaning more than four buildings in five (NIRF 2025 data return). Walking aids including wheelchairs are held, and a vehicle moves students between blocks. Worth remembering that this is a hillside campus with hostels still going up, so ask how the answer holds for the specific buildings you would use.
Hostel
The institute's hostel page lists boys' hostels with a combined capacity of 453 beds and girls' hostels with 180, under a chief warden, and still describes the blocks as sitting at different locations in the city, which is the Shillong arrangement rather than the Sohra one (hostels). Purpose-built replacements were under construction at Sohra when the Annual Report was written, with a three-seater boys' hostel and a girls' hostel in the first priority tranche and a single-seater boys' block in the second (Annual Report 2023-24). Ask the chief warden's office which block a first-year student is actually allotted in the year you join.
Residential charges are billed separately from tuition and into a separate hostel account. The heads are an admission fee, a refundable hostel caution deposit, a seat rent, an establishment charge covering electricity, water and furniture, and a mess advance that is squared against the actual mess bill at the end of the semester (NIT Meghalaya fee structure). Both caution deposits, the institute one and the hostel one, are returned only after the programme is completed successfully, so treat them as money parked for four years rather than money spent.
Faculty
Read the faculty count next to the doctoral roll rather than next to the class size, because that is where this campus is unusual. Its ranking return enters 106 faculty members, 640 undergraduates and 37 taught postgraduates, and then 163 full-time and 105 part-time research scholars (NIRF 2025 data return). Research students on the roll far outnumber taught postgraduates, which makes a supervisor's attention the scarce commodity on this campus rather than a lecture seat. The year 2023-24 produced 19 full-time and 5 part-time doctorates (NIRF 2025 data return).
Funded work has grown steadily rather than dramatically. Sponsored projects went from 23 to 25 to 26 across the three years the return covers, drawn from 9, then 11, then 13 funding agencies, and brought in Rs 4,08,55,792 in 2023-24; consultancy ran at 43 projects for 30 client organisations that year, worth Rs 2,50,06,955 (NIRF 2025 data return). That is 43 live client projects running across a faculty of 106, and consultancy is the category of work a final-year project can attach itself to.
Notable Alumni
The institute keeps a notable alumni list of its own, and it is short, recent and made almost entirely of company founders.
| Alumnus | Batch | Degree | Company | Role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subham Charan | 2012-2016 | B.Tech, EEE | Varistor Technologies | President and CEO |
| Akshaya Kumar Gupta | 2012-2016 | B.Tech, EEE | Varistor Technologies | Chief Operating Officer |
| Aman Kumar Jain | 2012-2016 | B.Tech, CSE | Varistor Technologies | Chief Technology Officer |
| Prem Prabhat | 2013-2017 | B.Tech, ECE | Amplitech Group | Founder |
| Nikhil Tripathi | 2013-2017 | B.Tech, ME | Bijak | Co-founder |
| Ritu Raj Shrivastwa | 2015-2017 | M.Tech, EE | Ficha, France | Chief Technology Officer |
Abhishek Acharya, Amit Raushan and Shubham Baranwal, from the same 2013-2017 electrical batch, are listed together as co-founders and directors of Nibrus Technologies (notable alumni). Nibrus then appears on the Centre for Career Development's recruiter list, so a company one batch started now hires from the campus that produced it (Centre for Career Development). No wider alumni roster exists that can be traced to a primary record, and the institute's alumni association is the body that maintains the one above.
News & Articles
Everything that moves during an admission year is published by the institute itself, in four places rather than one. Admission notifications, provisional selection lists and revised fee sheets go up under the academics and admission sections of nitm.ac.in, day-to-day notices under the student e-notice feed, tenders and recruitment under their own headings, and each season's hiring numbers on the Centre for Career Development site, which also archives placement brochures back to 2020-2021 (Centre for Career Development). In a season where a reporting window can run for a few days, a date copied onto a listing site is a copy of a copy.
College Compare
The comparison most candidates from the region are actually making is with NIT Silchar, and on the ranking it is not close: Silchar sits at 50 with 55.91 against 83 and 48.21 here (NIRF 2025 engineering ranking). Scale is the bigger difference. Silchar's return records a sanctioned undergraduate intake of 825 against 172 at Meghalaya, so a Silchar branch is several times the size of the equivalent here (NIT Silchar NIRF 2025 data return, NIT Meghalaya NIRF 2025 data return).
The outcome columns do not follow the ranking, and the direction may surprise you. In 2023-24 Silchar placed 520 of the 823 undergraduates who finished on time, at a median of Rs 11,00,000; Meghalaya placed 112 of 140, at Rs 10,50,000 (NIT Silchar NIRF 2025 data return, NIT Meghalaya NIRF 2025 data return). The median is half a lakh apart; the share of the cohort that got an offer at all is not, and it favours the smaller campus in that particular year. One year is not a trend, and Silchar's own numbers swing hard between years, so weigh it accordingly.
Where Meghalaya changes the arithmetic is on the home-state route, and only for one group of candidates. Its home-state pool admits at ranks its own other-state pool never touches, 127,321 against 28,662 for computer science in 2026 (Collegedunia), and that gap is the strongest single reason to put this campus high on a choice list if your Class 12 board was in Meghalaya. If it was anywhere else, you are in the all-India pool against the whole country, and the sensible check before committing is what the same rank holds at the NITs immediately above this one on the ranking table.
Contact & Location
Sohra is not on the way to anywhere, so work the journey out before you accept a seat. The institute puts Guwahati airport at about 168 kilometres, reached by taxi to Shillong in roughly three hours and then Shillong to Sohra in about two; Shillong airport is about 80.5 kilometres away and the nearest railhead is Guwahati at about 148 kilometres (how to reach).

Approvals & Accreditation
Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.
Two of the five B.Tech branches carry a programme accreditation, and computer science is not one of them. Search the accreditation board's public disclosure for this campus and two rows come back: mechanical engineering, and electrical and electronics engineering. Both are undergraduate, both sit in Tier I, and both were granted on 1 July 2024 to run for three years (National Board of Accreditation, accredited programme list). Computer science, electronics and communication, and civil engineering return nothing.
Tier I is the band that carries Washington Accord recognition, which narrows where the gap bites. It bites when a foreign postgraduate admissions office or a licensing body asks whether the specific programme is accredited, and the answer for three of the five branches is that it is not on the register. It does not touch the validity of the degree: an NIT's standing to award one comes from the NIT Act rather than from any accreditation cycle (About NIT Meghalaya).
Checking this yourself is harder than it should be. The institute's own accreditation page carries no certificate, no validity date and no text at all at the time of writing (Accreditation, NIT Meghalaya), which leaves the NBA's register as the only place the current position can be read. Our NAAC, AICTE and AIU datasets hold no record for this campus either, so no grade and no approval is claimed here. Treat that as a blank in what we hold rather than as a verdict, and treat the two NBA rows above as the whole of what is certified.
