About IPMAT Rohtak

A General category candidate needed 363 marks in the IPM Aptitude Test 2026 to reach IIM Rohtak's interview shortlist, and 453 candidates managed it. Neither number is an estimate: IIM Rohtak prints the minimum mark for every category, and the count that met it, on a one page summary sheet after each test, and three of those sheets sit on its website. What the mark buys is smaller than it looks: the test carries 55 percent of the final merit score, and an interview and two sets of school marks carry the rest.

IPMAT Rohtak decides a little over half of the admission it leads to. IIM Rohtak's admission policy for IPM Batch 08, the 2026-31 session, builds the final merit list from four components: the Aptitude Test Score at 55 percent, the Personal Interview at 15 percent, Class X marks at 10 percent and Class XII marks at 20 percent (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission). School marks a candidate banked years earlier are therefore weighed twice, once as an eligibility bar and again inside the merit score. The interview carrying the other 15 percent is the only component with no paper trail behind it, and the policy names what it tests: academics, general awareness and communication skills (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

IIM Rohtak's own documents spell the test two ways, IPM AT 2026 in the admission policy and IPMAT 2026 in the notices its admission portals carry. Either way it is an in-house paper: the institute sets it, scores it, shortlists on it and allots against it, and the only other admission it feeds is IIM Rohtak's own five year Integrated Programme in Law, whose Batch 06 policy takes either IPM AT 2026 or CLAT 2026 (IIM Rohtak, IPL Batch 06 admission process).

Every line of the Batch 08 calendar carries the institute's own asterisk, which calls the timelines tentative and subject to the IPM AT 2026 exam, results and exigency conditions (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission). The one line in it that can now be checked against the event is the test date, and that one held.

Registration for that intake has since closed, and the institute's IPM admission portal says so on its front page (IIM Rohtak IPM admission portal).

Across cycles the date has moved only within a single month. The test has landed in May in each of the last three, on May 18, 2024, on May 5, 2025 and on May 10, 2026, each date recorded in the summary IIM Rohtak published afterwards (IPM AT 2024 summary, IPM AT 2025 summary, IPM AT 2026 summary). Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

Two bars decide who may apply, and IIM Rohtak sets both by category. On marks, the Batch 08 policy asks for a minimum of 60 percent in standard X or SSC and again in standard XII or HSC for General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates, and 55 percent for SC, ST and DAP candidates (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

On age, the cap was 20 years as of June 30, 2026, relaxed to 25 years for SC and ST candidates. The relaxation names those two categories and no others, so a DAP candidate got the lower marks bar and the standard age bar (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission). DAP is worth naming carefully: it runs across every other category in the institute's cut-off tables, as DAP-General, DAP-EWS, DAP-NC-OBC, DAP-SC and DAP-ST, and none of the Batch 08 documents expands the abbreviation (IIM Rohtak, summary of IPM Aptitude Test 2026).

Candidates still in school were allowed in. Anyone likely to complete standard XII or equivalent by the end of June 2026 could apply and, if selected, was offered provisional admission. At registration such a candidate had to produce both mark sheets, showing 60 percent for General, EWS and NC-OBC or 55 percent for SC, ST and DAP, together with a school leaving or migration certificate, failing which the offer stood cancelled (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

How the percentage is worked out is its own rule, and a generous one. IIM Rohtak counts the aggregate of any best five subjects on the mark sheet, whatever the board's own regulation says. Letter grades or grade points are converted to a percentage of those best five by the procedure the awarding board certifies, and where a mark sheet carries fewer than five subjects the candidate falls back on that same certified procedure (IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

Two more routes sit alongside the domestic one. International applicants may apply on exactly the same eligibility criteria and follow the same application procedure, and they sit IPM AT 2026 like everyone else (IPM Batch 08 FAQ). A candidate who also wants the law programme selects the IPL option during registration and takes an extra section in the same sitting (IIM Rohtak, IPL Batch 06 admission process).

Step by step

Application process and fee

Applying meant one online registration form, open from Feb 06, 2026 to April 06, 2026. IIM Rohtak describes that form as one that aims at evaluating the applicant's proficiency in academics as well as in extra-curricular activities (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

One non-refundable registration fee of Rs 4,937 covered it. The Batch 08 policy states that single figure and sets out no reduced fee for SC, ST, DAP or any other category, and the prospectus repeats it unchanged (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission, IPM prospectus).

There was no correction window. The Batch 08 FAQ answers the question flatly: a candidate cannot edit the filled details once the form is submitted, and is told to verify everything before submitting (IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

Before the exam

Admit card and exam day

IIM Rohtak fixed two things about test day in public, the clock and the format. IPM AT 2026 was set for May 10, 2026 from 9:00 AM onwards as an online aptitude test at designated test centres, with 40 questions in each of three sections inside one shared window (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission, IPM Batch 08 FAQ), and the summary sheet published afterwards records the paper as held on that date (IPM AT 2026 summary).

What none of those documents carries is an admit card. The Batch 08 admission policy, the prospectus and the IPM 08 FAQ publish no admit card release date and no list of documents to bring to the centre (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission, IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

A candidate who had opted for the law programme stayed in the hall longer, for one further section of 20 questions with its own 20 minute allowance (IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

Structure

Exam pattern

Three equal sections, one clock between them.

Every question is multiple choice and carries 4 marks, a wrong answer costs 1 mark, and a question left alone earns and costs nothing (IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

One line in the FAQ closes off the question a three section paper invites: there shall not be any sectional cut-off for the Aptitude Test (IPM Batch 08 FAQ). With no sectional bar and no sectional timer, the paper is graded as one total.

Everything IIM Rohtak commits to on content fits inside one relative clause in the Batch 08 policy: an aptitude test that will examine the aptitude, logical reasoning, and proficiency in English of the applicant (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

Past the three section names, there is nothing further to read. The Batch 08 admission policy, the prospectus and the IPM 08 FAQ carry no topic list, no chapter weighting and no sample paper (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission, IPM prospectus). Legal Reasoning, the fourth section name for law applicants, is described no further either (IIM Rohtak, IPL Batch 06 admission process).

How to prepare

Preparation and books

There is no topic list to work down, so what a candidate can plan against is the set of rules IIM Rohtak does publish about the paper and about the merit list it feeds.

The first is the shared clock. Three sections of 40 questions sit inside one window with no sectional timer and no sectional cut-off, so a candidate is free to spend the time wherever the marks are and is measured only on the total (IPM Batch 08 FAQ). Accuracy has a price attached, and it is asymmetric: a wrong answer subtracts 1 mark, while a question left untouched neither earns nor costs anything (IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

The second is where the rest of the merit score comes from. The test is worth 55 percent, the interview 15 percent, and Class X and Class XII marks 10 percent and 20 percent, which means a Class XII candidate preparing for boards and for this paper in the same spring is working on two parts of the same merit list (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

The nearest thing to a target is the institute's own record of what each category actually needed, published after each test and different every year (IPM AT 2026 summary).

Beyond those rules and that record, IIM Rohtak offers nothing. Its Batch 08 admission policy and its FAQ fix the sections, the marking and the weighting, and go no further into what to read or where to practise (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission, IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

Where it is held

Exam centres

IIM Rohtak keeps its centre list in one document only, the Batch 08 FAQ, where it appears inside the answer to a question about the selection process rather than under a heading of its own. The cities it names begin Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Ambala, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Roorkee, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Indore and Jaipur. They run on through Kanpur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Delhi, Patna, Pune, Bhilai, Ranchi, Sikar, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi, Baddi and Visakhapatnam (IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

The institute calls the list tentative and adds that test centre allocation is subject to availability, so a named city is a possibility rather than an entitlement (IPM Batch 08 FAQ).

After the exam

Answer key

IIM Rohtak's public statement on the IPM AT 2026 key was a subtraction rather than a document. For the management stream the institute declared two questions null and void and evaluated candidates out of 472 marks, in a note posted on its IPM admission portal (IIM Rohtak IPM admission portal).

The law variant of the same paper was re-based alongside it. IIM Rohtak's IPL admission portal records IPMAT 2026 as evaluated out of 552 marks for that stream, which sits one section longer (IIM Rohtak IPL admission portal).

Around those notes there is no key and no challenge window. Neither portal offers an answer key download or describes an objection process, and the Batch 08 admission policy sets out none either (IIM Rohtak IPL admission portal, IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

Scores

Result and scorecard

IIM Rohtak splits what it tells one candidate from what it tells everybody. Individually, the news arrives through the institute's IPM admission portal, which signs a candidate in with the registered email address and the date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY form (IIM Rohtak IPM admission portal).

Collectively it arrives as the summary sheet, which counts the cycle instead of naming anyone in it. For IPM AT 2026 it records that 14,488 applicants were called for the test, that 12,522 attended, and that 1,030 were shortlisted for the Personal Interview (IPM AT 2026 summary).

One line in the Batch 08 policy is worth reading before any result arrives. Every admission offer comes as a letter duly signed by the Controller of Examinations of IIM Rohtak and sent from ipmadmission@iimrohtak.ac.in, and an offer received from any other email is completely invalid and not official (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

Scores you need

Cutoff

Nothing a candidate could read before sitting the paper carried a qualifying mark. It arrives afterwards, on the summary sheet, as a single minimum on the total for each category, with a count of how many reached it.

The same bar in a different year is a different number, and the three IIM Rohtak has published move in both directions.

The categories do not move together. Between 2025 and 2026 the General minimum fell from 381 to 363 while the NC-OBC minimum rose from 297 to 307, and the SC and ST minimums rose as well, from 230 to 246 and from 138 to 168 (IPM AT 2025 summary, IPM AT 2026 summary).

Getting a seat

Counselling and seat allotment

Seat allotment for Batch 08 never left IIM Rohtak's own admission portal, and the policy governing it names no authority outside the institute. It fixes 198 seats, including 10 percent offered to EWS candidates, and puts every offer strictly on the merit list and the seats available in each category under Government of India reservation rules (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

Accepting an offer costs money before the first class. A selected candidate had to deposit Rs 1,00,000 as the Offer Acceptance Amount through the institute's admission portal, and that money was then adjusted against the first year programme fee; failing to pay the first instalment of that fee by the date in the confirmation letter cancelled the seat (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

A candidate who changed their mind had one cut-off to beat: the withdrawal request had to reach IIM Rohtak through the admission portal, and it had to do so before the date of registration. The institute then kept Rs 1,000 of the money as a processing fee and sent the rest back by bank transfer to the candidate's own savings account, automatically, within 150 to 180 days from the date of registration to the programme (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).

Participating institutes

One institute takes this score, and it takes it for two of its own programmes. The five year IPM is the programme the test was built for, and the only one of the two where an IPM AT score is the sole way in (IIM Rohtak, IPM admission, IIM Rohtak, IPL Batch 06 admission process).

The second is IIM Rohtak's five year Integrated Programme in Law, and the Batch 06 policy for the 2026-31 session opens two doors to it. A candidate who did not sit CLAT 2026 can apply by selecting the IPL option alongside IPM at registration and taking four sections in IPM AT 2026 instead of three; a candidate who did sit CLAT 2026 registers on the IPL portal with the CLAT application number. Either route carries the same non-refundable registration fee of Rs 4,937, and the law programme's merit list uses the same weighting, with the entrance component named as CLAT or IPM AT (IIM Rohtak, IPL Batch 06 admission process).

The law programme's age rule is the stricter of the two. It caps every category at 20 years as of June 30, 2026, with no relaxation for SC, ST or DAP candidates, where the IPM route relaxes the cap to 25 years for SC and ST (IIM Rohtak, IPL Batch 06 admission process, IIM Rohtak, IPM admission).
