Common Management Admission Test

The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national entrance examination for admission to postgraduate management programmes in India. The National Testing Agency (NTA) now conducts it as a computer-based online test that institutions use to select graduates for management courses. It began under the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which first held it in 2012 to spare candidates the cost and effort of sitting several separate entrance tests.

A CMAT score is accepted by AICTE-approved institutions, university departments, and constituent and affiliated colleges that run MBA and PGDM programmes. Each institution sets its own admission criteria, including any minimum-percentage requirement, so the score is a common entry point rather than one fixed bar.

The test runs at postgraduate level, in computer-based (CBT) mode, across three hours, once a year. Its sections span quantitative techniques and data interpretation, logical reasoning, language comprehension, general awareness, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Indian citizens who hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline, or who are in their final year, are eligible, and there is no minimum age.
