About IPMAT Indore

IPMAT Indore, formally the IPM Aptitude Test, is the entrance examination that IIM Indore runs for admission to its five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). It sits at the undergraduate level: candidates take it after finishing, or while finishing, Class XII. Clearing it opens a single continuous course that carries a student from the bachelor's stage through to the MBA.

IIM Indore started the IPM in 2011, the first programme of its kind in India. It runs for five years across fifteen terms. The early years cover mathematics, statistics, economics and the social sciences, and the final two align with the institute's postgraduate management curriculum. Students who finish are awarded a dual degree, a Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management) with an MBA.

The test is computer-based and held at designated centres across the country. It assesses quantitative aptitude and mathematics, and verbal ability and English. Candidates who clear the written paper are shortlisted for a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a personal interview, and those two stages settle the final offer.

Students from any stream can apply, with no compulsory mathematics requirement at the school level. A maximum-age limit applies, relaxed for SC, ST and PwD candidates, and the IIM Indore programme sets no fixed minimum-percentage rule.
