About GUJCET

GUJCET, the Gujarat Common Entrance Test, is set by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board for Group-A, Group-B and Group-AB students of the HSC Science stream who are seeking admission to degree engineering or to degree or diploma pharmacy in the state. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board traces the test, in its exam-date notice for GUJCET 2026, to a November 2016 Education Department resolution under which GUJCET became the compulsory common entrance test for those courses from 2017.

The seat itself is awarded by a different office, and on the seats GUJCET governs that office does not rank anyone on the GUJCET score alone. Merit there is prepared on 50% weightage of the theory percentile issued by the candidate's board in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (or Biology for eligible branches) and 50% weightage of the percentile of the GUJCET examination in the corresponding subjects, per the 2026-27 degree engineering advertisement of the Admission Committee for Professional Courses, Gujarat. Both halves are percentiles rather than marks, so a strong entrance score sitting on a weak Class 12 theory result carries only its own share of the merit number.

For GUJCET 2026 the board's result booklet counts 1,36,071 registered candidates, 58,507 of them in Group A, 77,182 in Group B and 382 in Group AB, and 1,32,319 who appeared, per GSEB's HSC Science and GUJCET 2026 result highlights.

For GUJCET 2026 the board announced the paper date in November 2025 in its exam-date notice, opened registration in the second half of December 2025 under its registration press note, and pushed the closing date twice into January 2026, the second time against a late fee, per its late-fee extension notice. The paper was held on Sunday 29-03-2026 in three sittings, per the GSEB hall-ticket notice and time schedule for GUJCET 2026, and the result followed on 04/05/2026, released with the Class 12 Science result, per GSEB's HSC Science and GUJCET 2026 result highlights.

The GUJCET 2025 notices show the same order a year earlier, with registration opening in the second half of December 2024 under the GUJCET 2025 registration press note and the paper set for a Sunday in late March 2025 in the GUJCET 2025 exam-date notice. No GUJCET 2027 notice had appeared on the board's e-service portal by mid-September 2026, so those two cycles are the only guide to timing until GSEB publishes one.

ACPC's calendar starts where GSEB's ends. Its degree engineering advertisement opened registration on 30.03.2026, the day after the paper, set 31.05.2026 as the last date, and told candidates they could register before their board or entrance results were declared, per the ACPC advertisement for degree engineering admission 2026-27. The pharmacy advertisement opened registration on 06.04.2026 with 15.06.2026 as the last date, per the ACPC advertisement for degree and diploma pharmacy admission 2026-27.

Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

The board opens the paper to Group-A, Group-B and Group-AB students of the HSC Science stream who are seeking admission to degree engineering and diploma or degree pharmacy, per the GSEB press note on GUJCET 2026 registration. What the score can then buy depends on where the candidate's school board sits as much as on which test was taken, because ACPC's degree engineering routes are written that way:

• For 95% of the sanctioned intake of government and grant-in-aid institutions, and 50% of the sanctioned intake of unaided institutions, the candidate must hold the minimum qualification from a school affiliated with a valid board located in Gujarat and must have appeared in GUJCET.
• For 5% of the sanctioned intake of government and grant-in-aid institutions, the qualification may come from a valid board located anywhere in India including Gujarat, and the candidate must have appeared in JEE (Main), where merit is the All India Rank declared by NTA.
• For government seats at a notified Centre of Excellence, the qualification must come from a school affiliated with a valid board located in Gujarat and the candidate must have appeared in the relevant entrance examination.
• Every engineering seat in the state also requires a pass in the HSC examination with at least 45% (40% for reservation category) in the subjects prescribed by AICTE and notified by government, per the ACPC advertisement for degree engineering admission 2026-27.

Pharmacy splits its seats in the same proportions but widens the all-India door and takes its subject list from a different council. The candidate must have passed HSC in Science stream A or B group with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology and English as notified by PCI, the GUJCET route again covers 95% of government and grant-in-aid intake and 50% of unaided intake, and the remaining 5% of government and grant-in-aid seats is ranked on NEET or JEE (Main), per the ACPC advertisement for degree and diploma pharmacy admission 2026-27.

Step by step

Application process and fee

The December form buys a place in the examination hall and nothing more; the admission form comes in spring and goes to a different office.

GSEB takes the examination application online on www.gseb.org and gujcet.gseb.org, and its registration press note is explicit about the order: the fee is paid first, through the SBIePay system by credit card, debit card or net banking, or at any SBI branch in the country through SBIePay's SBI Branch Payment option, and the complete form is filled afterwards. The board prints the examination fee itself in that press note, per the GSEB press note on GUJCET 2026 registration. For GUJCET 2026 the window was extended once by a plain GSEB notice extending the GUJCET 2026 application date and a second time only against a late fee charged on top of the examination fee, with both amounts printed in the GSEB late-fee extension notice for GUJCET 2026.

The admission application goes to ACPC and is a separate transaction: a non-refundable registration fee of INR 350, paid online only, with every relevant document uploaded rather than carried anywhere. The committee states that no document is submitted or verified in person and that no other means of registration exists. A candidate without an internet connection can use a designated Cyber Space Centre, open 11 AM to 5 PM on working days, without paying any charges, per the ACPC advertisement for degree engineering admission 2026-27.

A candidate with disability who needs a scribe or a reader has one more application to make, after the online GUJCET form and inside a deadline that the board's circular counts from its submission: to the District Education Officer of the district in which the candidate selected the examination centre. The DEO approves the scribe or reader and informs the board, the candidate and the centre in charge, and a candidate who does not arrange one and asks the DEO for one gets the service free of cost, per the GSEB circular on concessions for candidates with disability.

Before the exam

Admit card and exam day

The hall ticket is issued online and only online. GSEB puts it on its websites ahead of the paper, and a candidate downloads it using the mobile number or email registered on the application together with a date of birth or application number; a candidate can also search by name and then supply the date of birth. Schools registered with the board for the science stream log in with their index number and download and distribute their own candidates' hall tickets. The board adds that this online hall ticket needs no signature or stamp from the school principal to be valid at the examination hall, per the GSEB hall-ticket notice and time schedule for GUJCET 2026.

Carry one photo identity proof with it. The same notice names an Aadhaar card, a driving licence or the original hall ticket of the Class 12 examination as acceptable.

Candidates with disability receive compensatory time for every hour of examination, at the rate set out in the GSEB circular on concessions for candidates with disability, whether or not they use a scribe. That circular also requires ground-floor seating and, at centres where deaf, hard-of-hearing or speech and language impaired candidates are appearing, a special educator proficient in Indian Sign Language whose role is limited to communication and procedural difficulties and who must not be a subject matter expert in the paper being administered. It applies to GUJCET examinations from GUJCET 2026 onwards.

Structure

Exam pattern

GSEB splits GUJCET 2026 into three separately timed papers on one date: Physics and Chemistry together from 10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon, Biology from 13.40 to 14.40, and Mathematics from 16.00 to 17.00, with entry to the hall from 9.30 AM for the first paper and final entry at the moment each test commences, per the GSEB hall-ticket notice and time schedule for GUJCET 2026. A recess is scheduled between the papers, so a candidate's day runs from mid-morning to late afternoon.

Physics and Chemistry share one question paper and one OMR answer sheet, while Biology and Mathematics are separate papers, each with an OMR sheet of its own, and the question papers come in Gujarati, English and Hindi, per the board's exam-date notice for GUJCET 2026. Each paper also circulates in numbered sets rather than a single version, prepared by subject experts in all three media, as the GSEB provisional answer key notice for GUJCET 2026 describes them.

What to study

Syllabus

GUJCET borrows its syllabus from the board's own classroom. The exam-date notice for GUJCET 2026 names the board's current NCERT-based syllabus for Class 12 Science as the syllabus for the test, and explains the link: under an Education Department resolution of October 2017, GSEB-registered schools have taught Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics in Class 12 Science from NCERT textbooks since the academic year that began in June 2019, per the GSEB exam-date notice for GUJCET 2026.

How to prepare

Preparation and books

The board's own practice material is organised around its school classes rather than around GUJCET, and some of it is reached only through a school.

The subject-wise question bank for Class 9 to Class 12 sits behind a school login: schools sign in to the GSEB question bank with the index number the board allotted them and the password they use for online applications, so a candidate reaches it through the school rather than alone. The public GSEB question-paper archive is sorted by standard, and its Class 12 Science list holds past board papers, unit-test and diagnostic-test papers, model papers and a run of JEE practice papers, with no GUJCET paper among them.

For GUJCET itself, the board's self-check material comes after the paper: the answer keys, which let a candidate score an attempt before the result, and a copy of the candidate's own OMR sheet once the result is out.

Where it is held

Exam centres

The board's exam-date notice for GUJCET 2026 placed the paper at district-level centres. The board's disability circular refers throughout to the district in which the candidate has selected the examination centre, routing scribe and reader approval through the District Education Officer of that district, per the GSEB circular on concessions for candidates with disability.

On the day, the board's exam-day press note for GUJCET 2026 tabulated attendance district by district, from Dang and Ahmedabad Rural to Gir Somanath and Tapi, for each of the three sittings. Its same-day totals do not exactly match the counts in the later result booklet.

After the exam

Answer key

For GUJCET 2026, GSEB placed the provisional key on its website and took objections by email alone, to gujcetkey@gmail.com, on the prescribed form attached to the notice, filled separately for each subject, each medium and each question, with supporting evidence, by the evening of 08/04/2026. Objections arriving after the deadline, or without supporting evidence, were not entertained. The fee is charged per question, at the rate printed on the challan form attached to the same notice, and is paid by challan at SBI; the paid challan had to be emailed with the form, a representation without it was rejected, and the fee for a question is returned if the objection on it is found correct, per the GSEB provisional answer key notice for GUJCET 2026.

The objections that cycle changed the answer to a single Chemistry question, in every set and all three media, so the board issued a final key for Chemistry alone on 10/04/2026 and let the provisional keys for Mathematics, Physics and Biology stand as final, per the GSEB final answer key notice for GUJCET 2026.

Two footnotes in the published keys change how a candidate counts their own score. A question marked ALL earns every candidate the mark, and where two options are printed against a question, either one is treated as correct, per the footnotes to the keys in the GSEB provisional answer key notice for GUJCET 2026.

Scores

Result and scorecard

GSEB declared the GUJCET 2026 result on 04/05/2026 alongside the Class 12 Science result, per GSEB's HSC Science and GUJCET 2026 result highlights. Its advance press note said the result would be on www.gseb.org, retrieved by entering the seat number, and that a candidate could also get it by sending the seat number to a WhatsApp number printed in that note, per the GSEB result press note for the 2026 examinations.

The booklet tabulates the percentile distribution separately for the A Group and the B Group.

Group AB candidates are counted in both columns. The A Group's 57,131 is the 56,865 Group A candidates who appeared plus the 266 Group AB candidates who appeared, and the B Group's 75,454 is its 75,188 plus the same 266, per the gender-wise table in GSEB's HSC Science and GUJCET 2026 result highlights.

ACPC publishes marks-to-percentile tables for its 2026 engineering and pharmacy admissions, one each for GUJCET, GSEB, CBSE and ISCE marks in PCM and in PCB, listed on its degree engineering admission page. In its GUJCET PCM table a total of 105 converts to a percentile of 95.05172323, and the table runs from 120 at the top down to totals below zero, which is negative marking at work, per the ACPC GUJCET PCM percentile table, 2026. In its GSEB PCM theory table a board theory total of 245 converts to 79.66287215, per the ACPC GSEB PCM percentile table, 2026. Under the equal-weight rule, a candidate holding both of those percentiles gets a merit mark exactly halfway between them.

After the result, candidates could apply online within a set window for a copy of their own OMR sheet, paying the prescribed fee through SBIePay or at an SBI branch, per the GSEB notice on GUJCET 2026 OMR copies. The copies came back with a verification report, downloadable only online through the applicant's own login, and the board states that it sends no reply by post, per the GSEB notice on downloading GUJCET 2026 OMR copies.

Cutoff

The closing figures for GUJCET-based engineering seats come from ACPC, round by round, and its degree engineering admission page keeps them as separate documents: rank-wise, institute-wise and program-wise analyses for the mock round and for each allotment round, last admitted rank lists, and program-wise and institute-wise closure files for the 2025-26 admission year. A closure file gives each course at each institute a closing rank and a merit mark for open-category home-state seats and for the SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, ESM and TFWS columns, with JEE all-India ranks alongside, per the ACPC program-wise closure for degree engineering, 2025-26. The committee's advertisement lists cut-off marks and the analysis of allotment results among what its website carries, per the ACPC advertisement for degree engineering admission 2026-27.

A mock-round analysis reflects choices filled before any seat was allotted, while a closure file sums up an admission year that is over, so a closing rank means little until you know which of the two documents it was taken from.

Getting a seat

Counselling and seat allotment

ACPC, whose key-date notices carry the letterhead of the Directorate of Technical Education, Gujarat, runs the admission process online through gujacpc.admissions.nic.in, with acpc.gujarat.gov.in carrying the notifications, per the ACPC key dates for degree engineering, 2026-27.

The same key dates laid out the degree engineering sequence for 2026-27: registration with document upload, a provisional merit list, choice filling for a mock round and its result, a final merit list, then three rounds of consent, choice filling and allotment, each followed by online token tuition fee payment, an admission letter and a cancellation or withdrawal window. Two openings were scheduled for candidates who missed the start: registration for non-registered candidates on available seats from 01.07.2026 to 05.07.2026, and a revised merit list after improvement of result on 10.07.2026, per the ACPC key dates for degree engineering, 2026-27. ACPC later extended round 1 choice filling to 23.06.2026 after CBSE's re-checking results came out, stating that every other date stayed unchanged, per the ACPC notice extending round 1 choice filling.

The engineering rounds did not end with round 3. Seats left vacant at self-financed institutes moved to admission at institute level from 28.07.2026, per the ACPC advertisement for vacant seats at self-financed engineering institutes, and ACPC later extended the last date for those admissions to 14.09.2026 in line with AICTE's revised academic calendar, per the ACPC notice extending the vacant-seat admission date. For its second offline vacant-seat round at government and grant-in-aid engineering institutes, with in-person counselling at the ACPC building on 03.09.2026, the committee's advertisement counted as eligible not only merit holders but candidates who had missed registration, had passed through the supplementary examination, or had not taken GUJCET 2026, provided they met the AICTE and state admission qualifications, per the ACPC advertisement for offline vacant-seat round 2 at government and grant-in-aid institutes.

Pharmacy runs later, and its 2026-27 schedule reaches into October. Its original key dates labelled the provisional and final merit lists GUJCET based, per the ACPC key dates for degree and diploma pharmacy, 2026-27. The revised key dates issued on 10.08.2026 set round 3 allotment for 19.08.2026, online cancellation up to 15.09.2026, choice filling for an online round at government and grant-in-aid institutes from 17.09.2026 to 22.09.2026, and 31.10.2026 as the last date of admission in any quota at government, grant-in-aid and self-financed institutes, per the ACPC revised key dates for degree and diploma pharmacy, 2026-27.

Participating institutes

ACPC's advertisements answer this in seat shares rather than names. GUJCET-based merit fills 95% of the sanctioned intake at government and grant-in-aid institutions and 50% at unaided institutions, in degree engineering per the ACPC advertisement for degree engineering admission 2026-27 and in pharmacy per the ACPC advertisement for degree and diploma pharmacy admission 2026-27. The Education Department resolution of July 2021 on eligibility and merit, which ACPC posts with its engineering rules, calls the rest of a self-financed institute's intake management seats, where merit runs on the JEE (Main) All India Rank or on GUJCET for seats the institute declares in advance, per the Education Department resolution on eligibility and merit.

The institute-by-institute spread is in ACPC's provisional GUJCET home-state seat matrix for BE, which prints GUJCET, JEE, NRI and management seat columns beside each course, with the category bifurcation of the GUJCET seats and a tuition fee column, and points candidates to the FRC Tech website for the latest fee. Its notes carry two warnings: intake is subject to AICTE approval and, for institutes affiliated with GTU, GTU affiliation approval, and private university intake is subject to BOG verification provided by the respective university, per the ACPC provisional GUJCET home-state seat matrix for BE, 2026-27. A course listed in a provisional matrix is still subject to those approvals.

For registration, merit, choice filling and allotment, the authority is ACPC, at its Admission Building near the library on the L. D. College of Engineering campus, Ahmedabad 380015, on 079-26566000 and at acpc-dte@gujarat.gov.in, per the ACPC website. Take a question to the body that owns it: GSEB cannot move a seat and ACPC cannot change a score.
