Symbiosis Law Admission Test

SLAT, the Symbiosis Law Admission Test, is the entrance test for the undergraduate law programmes run by Symbiosis International (Deemed University). It is a one-hour, computer-based test that Symbiosis uses to shortlist candidates for its five-year integrated law degrees. A SLAT score is the gateway to the BA LLB and BBA LLB (Honours) programmes at the Symbiosis Law Schools in Pune, Noida, Hyderabad and Nagpur. The test is national in reach, so candidates apply from across India for these seats. It sits at the undergraduate level, taken after the 10+2 stage rather than after a bachelor's degree.

The paper carries 60 objective questions across five equally weighted sections: logical reasoning, legal reasoning, analytical reasoning, reading comprehension, and general knowledge. There is no negative marking for a wrong answer. To be eligible you must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with at least 45% marks (40% for SC and ST candidates), and there is no upper age limit.

Admission does not rest on the written test alone. The SLAT score is combined with a personal interview to arrive at a candidate's composite score, and both components carry weight in the final merit list. Clearing the test is the first step; you also need to attend the interview to be considered for a seat.
