Chandigarh College Of Pharmacy, Landran

S.A.S Nagar, Punjab Est. 2005 Official site Updated
NIRF Pharmacy
#69

Chandigarh College of Pharmacy is not in Chandigarh. It sits at Landran on the Kharar to Banur highway, in Sector 112 of Greater Mohali, Punjab 140307, as the college gives its own address, which puts it in Mohali district and under Punjab's technical education system rather than the union territory's. It stands 69th among the pharmacy institutions the Ministry of Education scored in its 2025 table, on 45.89 points. The number worth arriving with, though, is a different one. Its own filing to that ranking counts 105 four-year undergraduates completing in 2023-24, of whom 19 are recorded as placed and 63 as continuing into higher study.

Overview

The college opened in 2005 as a constituent institute of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, set up by Sri Guru Ram Das Educational Society, and it teaches pharmacy and nothing else. Three credentials sit on the overview it publishes: approval from the Pharmacy Council of India, affiliation to I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University at Jalandhar, and recognition as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation by the DSIR. The first two come round again, under the principal's signature, on its public self-disclosure certificate, which is the document to quote if anyone tells you the degree comes from somewhere else. Of that set the research recognition is the one it treats as exclusive: its prospectus claims it is the only institute under the state technical university holding it.

One name trap costs applicants a preference here, and the counselling sheets show why. Chandigarh Pharmacy College, Jhanjeri is a separate college on the same sheets: the second-round B.Pharmacy cut-off list for 2025-26 carries both institutions a few rows apart, and the rows do not match. Landran's tuition-fee-waiver line closed that round with no rank and no seats left; Jhanjeri's still closed at rank 134. Landran and Jhanjeri are different campuses with different intakes. Read the row, not the first two words of it.

The abbreviation is worth fixing early too. The college writes itself CCP and its parent group writes itself CGC, and the group runs engineering, commerce, hotel management, business management, computer applications and biotechnology alongside this college, as its own prospectus lists them. Nothing described below applies to those other institutes, because their approvals, their fee lines and their counselling schedules are separate.

Courses & Fees

Six programmes ran in the 2024-25 session: the Bachelor of Pharmacy, the six-year Doctor of Pharmacy, and four master's branches in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacy Practice and Regulatory Affairs, per the college's annual report for that year. Two more routes exist on paper without appearing in that six. The Academics menu carries a Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) page; the lateral entry into the bachelor's has no page of its own and appears only in the prospectus, which sets it at three years and asks for a Diploma in Pharmacy approved by the PCI or AICTE. Both hold seats in the university's counselling. Ask which of those two is actually running in your admission year before you set it as a preference. The diploma that feeds that lateral entry is not taught here: it appears in neither the annual report's six, nor the prospectus programme list, nor the Academics menu.

Entry qualifications differ more sharply than the shared four-year label suggests. The bachelor's asks for a 10+2 pass with English plus physics and chemistry, with mathematics or biology as the optional subject, on the B.Pharmacy page. The Pharm.D asks for 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 60 per cent and physics, chemistry and biology or mathematics compulsory, on its own page. The college's prospectus then sets a third bar, requiring 60 per cent in physics, chemistry and one of mathematics or biology for the bachelor's as well. Two of the college's own documents therefore disagree about whether the B.Pharmacy has a percentage requirement at all, so get the figure for your admission year in writing before you assume you qualify.

Tuition here is notified a level up. Under its Admission and Fee menu the college posts a prospectus, a refund policy and, as its Fee Structure item, a copy of the university's notification for programmes at its affiliated and autonomous colleges; no programme page carries a fee line of its own, so that notification is the only tuition figure the college puts in front of an applicant.

Priced by the university's session 2025-26 notification for its affiliated and autonomous colleges, in the copy the college itself hosts.

The billing unit in that middle column is the thing people get wrong. Every bachelor's and master's row is priced per semester, so two payments fall due each academic year. Both Pharm.D rows are priced per year, so one does. Compare a Pharm.D line against a B.Pharmacy line without noticing that and the doctorate looks twice as expensive as it is.

Residence is priced separately and, unusually for this state, openly. The college lists a four-seater room at Rs 75,000, a three-seater at Rs 80,000, a three-seater in the new hostel at Rs 85,000 and a two-seater, subject to availability, at Rs 90,000, on its hostel page. Those are room rates published next to the facilities they buy, which is more than the fee notification offers, since it leaves hostel and mess charges to each college.

Admissions

There is no entrance paper written by this college. Every PCI-approved seat is allotted in a centralised online counselling, conducted by I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University. Its authority to run that counselling comes from the Punjab Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, and the ordering rule is inter-se merit of the qualifying examination. Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University puts its own B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D colleges into the same exercise, so the queue you take a position in is longer than one university's list of colleges.

The master's route is the exception, and it is the one that separates this college from several of its Punjab neighbours. Its own admission text is explicit: the 85 per cent of seats held for residents of Punjab and the 15 per cent held for candidates from elsewhere are both filled strictly on GPAT, and only where a category goes unfilled does merit in the qualifying examination decide, on the M.Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics) page. The same page sets eligibility at a B.Pharm with at least 55 per cent in aggregate, relaxed to 50 per cent for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates, where the prospectus asks for 60 per cent flat.

Read those two statements alongside a third, because it changes where you apply. The prospectus says 33 per cent of master's seats are filled directly by the college on merit in GPAT, which is a route outside the university counselling entirely. That reconciles the tension the counselling sheets otherwise create, since those rank candidates on the qualifying examination and produce two-digit merit positions rather than GPAT scores. Ask the admission cell which of the two shares your application is being considered under, and sit GPAT either way.

Both programme pages send applicants to an online form on the group's domain at cgc.edu.in rather than to the college's own site, which is worth pausing over in a group that runs several institutes off one admission portal. Check that the form you complete names Chandigarh College of Pharmacy and the programme you want.

Cutoff

The university published closing ranks for this college on five of the 2025-26 pharmacy sheets, and the pattern across rounds is the opposite of what the seat counts alone would suggest.

Programme and categoryRound 1 closing rankRound 2 closing rank
B.Pharmacy, general Punjab106358
B.Pharmacy, tuition fee waiver, Punjab402no rank recorded
Pharm.D, general Punjab23no rank recorded
Pharm.D, general other state19no rank recorded
M.Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics), general Punjabno rank recorded20
M.Pharmacy (Pharmacology), general Punjabno rank recorded29
M.Pharmacy (Pharmacy Practice), general Punjabno rank recorded12
Every cell above is read off a separate university sheet for 2025-26: bachelor's round one and round two, doctorate round one and round two, master's round two.

Read the bachelor's row first. The open Punjab pool closed at merit position 106 in the first round and at 358 in the second, so waiting for a later round did not cost a candidate here, it helped one. That is a wide slide for a single round, and it says the college fills its strongest applicants early and then reaches a long way down to finish.

The master's rows move the other way. Nothing closed in the first postgraduate round except two single other-state places, in Pharmaceutics at rank 38 and in Pharmacology at 10; the Punjab pools for Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice only closed in the second. Regulatory Affairs closed in neither round, in either quota, which is the plainest signal on these sheets: the branch the college built a Centre of Excellence around is the one applicants are not ranking first.

Every figure above is a position in a category queue rather than a score, which is why the 12 in Pharmacy Practice and the 358 in B.Pharmacy are not comparable: they count queues of very different sizes.

The doctorate makes the point twice over. It still had eight open Punjab places on offer in the second round and closed none of them, and the lateral-entry sheet records seats against this college with no closing rank against any of them.

Placements

The undergraduate outcome here is further study, not a job, and the college's own ranking filing is where that shows.

Batch graduatingGraduating in minimum timePlacedMedian salaryWent to higher studies
2021-22, four-year UG1069Rs 5,58,00032
2022-23, four-year UG10518Rs 4,56,00056
2023-24, four-year UG10519Rs 4,75,00063
2021-22, two-year PG2622Rs 6,50,0004
2022-23, two-year PG2622Rs 7,10,0004
2023-24, two-year PG2724Rs 7,40,0003
All six rows come from the college's own 2025 data submission to the India Rankings.

Those two blocks describe different institutions. On the master's side better than eight in ten graduates were placed in each of the three years, and the same filing puts the median at Rs 6,50,000 for the earliest of them and Rs 7,40,000 for the latest. On the bachelor's side the placed count was 19 out of 105 in the most recent year, against 63 who went on to study further. The undergraduate median did climb from Rs 4,56,000 to Rs 4,75,000 across those two years, but it is a median over 19 people rather than over a batch.

Set that against what the campus advertises. Every page of the college's site carries a banner claiming more than 200 companies for placement, more than 1000 placement offers and a highest package of 14 lakh, including its recruiters page. Its own annual report for 2024-25 gives the figures for one session instead: 90 organisations came for campus recruitment and 80 placement offers were received. The banner is a running total with no period attached; the report is a year. Ask the placement cell which year the 14 lakh belongs to and which programme took it, because neither the banner nor the ranking filing says.

The recruiter list will not settle it either. The recruiters page carries its employers as a single graphic, and the logo strip running along the foot of every page is images too, so the roll of companies is nothing a reader can copy or a search engine can read. Employers do appear in words, in three scattered places and never as a roster. The prospectus names Akums, Cipla, Glenmark, Sun Pharma and Wockhardt among others under an internship and industrial visit heading, which records where students were sent rather than who hired them. The same prospectus, under a prominent recruiters heading, sets Indegene lifesciences, Healthplix and Medtronics Ltd against three named graduates and their programmes. The testimonials repeated site-wide, the placed-students page included, add DocusInc and Roots Analysis. A handful of employers named against individual students is a different thing from a recruiter list, and not one of them carries a year.

Seat Matrix

The approved intake is small, and what matters more is the distance between it and the roll actually enrolled. Across the four years for which the 2025 ranking submission declares a sanctioned undergraduate number, that number never moves off 100, with 27 sanctioned on the two-year master's. The roll standing behind those figures is 460 undergraduates and 54 postgraduates across all years.

Counted off the undergraduate seat matrix the university published for the 2026-27 counselling, which lists IKGPTU and MRSPTU colleges in one file.

The reserved heads below those are not uniform, and the differences are worth reading off the same matrix rather than assumed. Persons with disabilities holds three places. Every remaining head below it holds exactly one seat, eight in all. Two are geographic, backward areas and border areas. Three go to service and public-order families: defence personnel, police and paramilitary wards, and households hit by riot or terrorism. The last three are sports persons, the single girl child, and the medical head for disaster victims, cancer, AIDS and thalassemia. Freedom fighters holds none at all, and the 2025-26 cut-off sheets carry no row for it against this college either, so a candidate presenting that certificate has nothing to be ranked into here. The same sheet gives the Pharm.D 8 open Punjab places and 2 open other-state places, with 4 and 1 reserved for scheduled castes and tribes.

One filed figure deserves a question rather than a conclusion. The ranking submission records 46 of the 460 undergraduates as being from within the state and 414 as from outside it, on a matrix that holds roughly six places in seven for Punjab candidates. Those two documents cannot both be describing the same intake in the same way, and the college is the only party that can explain which reading is right. Raise it if your plan depends on the domicile split.

Rankings

This college has appeared in each of the last five pharmacy tables, and the parameter scores underneath move in directions the headline position hides.

Each row is lifted from the government's pharmacy table for that edition alone: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025.

Two columns have done all the lifting. Teaching, learning and resources has risen in every cycle since 2022 to reach 76.02, and outreach and inclusivity has risen in every cycle since 2021 to reach 81.40 in the 2025 table, which is its highest-scoring parameter in that table. Those are the two things money, staffing and admissions policy can move, and they moved.

Research and professional practice has not. It has never crossed 17 in five cycles, and at 10.51 in the 2025 table it sits far below every other parameter except perception. If you are choosing this college for a master's or a doctorate, that column is the one that describes what you are joining, and it is the one the teaching score cannot compensate for.

Perception behaves like a switch rather than a trend. It reads 30.25 in the 2024 table and 5.12 in the 2025 one, with the earlier years low as well. One cycle in the thirties, with every other cycle in the table far beneath it, is not a reputation curve, and an applicant should treat the 2024 number as the outlier rather than the baseline.

Which year you get depends on where on the site you read. The awards page carries the current 69, and so do the overview and the annual report. The Awards and Rankings panel repeated down the side of every page, that awards page included, still stops at 66 for 2024, and the prospectus leads with 66 too. Anyone working from the brochure or that side panel is a cycle behind the college's own current filing.

Facilities & Infrastructure

The animal facility is the most fully documented thing on this campus. It is registered with the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals under registration number 1201/PO/Re/S/08/CPCSEA, and the college describes a two-storey building on a two-way corridor system with each species housed in separate rooms, environmental controls on temperature, humidity and the light cycle, and full fresh air exchange, on its facility page. For anyone planning pharmacology work, that registration number is the detail that matters, because without it a thesis involving animals cannot legally run.

Five Centres of Excellence carry the instruments, and for the ones built around equipment the college names both the kit and the scheme that paid for it, on its centres page. Molecular Pharmacology was built under the AICTE MODROBS scheme and lists high-performance liquid chromatography, a cell culture laboratory, ELISA readers, PCR machines and centrifuges. Modern Pharmaceutics, under the same scheme, lists differential scanning calorimetry, homogenisers, a stability chamber and dissolution apparatus. The Central Instrumentation Laboratory was established under a PCI scheme, the Molecular Research centre is the one credited there with ICMR and DBT grants, and Regulatory Affairs runs on a collaboration with Point of Care Biosystem, New Delhi.

The herbal garden holds more than 30 medicinal plants of rare species from authentic sources and is used for undergraduate and postgraduate project work, on its own page.

Hostel

Accommodation at Landran is run by the group rather than by the pharmacy college, and the page describing it says so in its own voice: it is CGC that offers the hostels, boys and girls housed separately, with a warden in each to supervise day to day management, on the hostel page. Rooms are semi-furnished with attached washrooms, ventilation and an air cooler. Beyond the room there is a well equipped reading room, common rooms with a television on a DTH connection, separate gyms for men and women, indoor games, courts for volleyball, basketball and badminton, and security kept up around the clock. Laundry, a night canteen, wi-fi, a hygienic vegetarian mess and a campus dispensary with an ambulance on call at any hour complete the list.

Two consequences follow for a pharmacy applicant. Rates are set by the college rather than by the university, and are published beside the facilities they buy, which is where the cost of a seat here stops being the state's business and becomes the campus's. And because these blocks serve every institute at Landran, none of what is listed is specific to this college, so ask the admission cell which hostel a pharmacy student is actually allotted, and how the mess timetable sits against a Pharm.D hospital posting.

Faculty

The published roster names 48 teachers, each with an individual profile document behind their name: a Director-Principal, a Professor and Head of Department, 11 further professors, 16 associate professors and 19 assistant professors, on the faculty profile the college maintains. The count in its 2025 ranking submission is 60. The two counts are dated differently and a gap of that size is normal enough, but it is worth asking how many of the 48 teach the branch you are joining.

Research output for 2024-25 was concentrated in patents rather than papers. The college filed 88 patents, published 18 and had 10 granted, and its faculty published seven SCI or SCIE indexed papers, 26 Scopus indexed papers, 16 UGC CARE papers and eight books or book chapters, in its annual report. One grant then appears three times and never the same way twice. That report books Rs 70.89 lakh as a Department of Science and Technology award for a project on antioxidative hydrogel and mesenchymal stem cell combinational therapy after spinal cord injury. The prospectus books the same Rs 70.89 lakh as a Department of Biotechnology grant for stem cell based therapy in spinal cord injury, and adds an Indian Council of Medical Research grant of 32 lakh for a nanotechnology treatment for lung cancer. The ranking filing books Rs 70,89,300 as four sponsored projects from four funding agencies, alongside 15 consultancy projects worth Rs 21,54,743. Only the college can say which of the three is the record.

That profile explains the research score. Eighty-eight patent filings are a large number for a college of this size, but the ranking framework weighs publications and the citations they attract most heavily, and a year with seven indexed papers across the whole roster is thin by that measure. Doctoral study here is part-time work: the same filing records 16 part-time research scholars and none full-time, with nine completing in its latest reported year. If you want a full-time research degree, that line is the one to raise before applying.

Notable Alumni

We could not find verified notable alumni for Chandigarh College Of Pharmacy, Landran from a reliable source. We name people only when their record is traceable, so this stays empty rather than listing unverified names.

News & Articles

The college keeps a dated feed and it is current rather than ceremonial. The three entries at the top of it are a workshop on using AI for fundraising and investor pitch preparation, run with the Institution's Innovation Council on 30 July 2026; an orientation programme on 29 July 2026; and a five-day international faculty development programme on transformative technologies in pharmaceutical sciences on 26 July 2026, on its news page.

One entry there is worth pulling out, because it is the kind of thing a ranking table cannot show: the college reports a faculty member securing national rank 1 at Pharma Anveshan Bharat 2026, in July of that year, on the same feed. The rest of the log runs to the concrete, a second-semester B.Pharmacy visit to Indus Multispeciality Hospital, a sixth-semester industrial visit to Synthimed Labs Private Limited, a workshop on pharmacovigilance and drug safety, a memorandum of understanding on natural therapeutics. It is a record of what a semester here contains, and none of it is an admission notice, so nothing on that feed will tell you a counselling date.

Contact & Location

Administratively this campus is in S.A.S. Nagar district, Punjab, and the college's own overview puts it at Landran on the Kharar to Banur highway, Sector 112, Greater Mohali, Punjab 140307, as it publishes the address. The union territory of Chandigarh is close by and irrelevant to it. Nothing about the affiliating university, the counselling that fills the seats or the fee that is charged runs through the union territory, so an application built around a Chandigarh address is built on the wrong jurisdiction.

For a number to ring or an address to write to, use the principal's public self-disclosure certificate rather than a directory listing: it carries the campus telephone line and a director's email at the group domain cgc.edu.in, under seal and signature, as filed against the University Grants Commission's 2024 disclosure guidelines.

Approvals & Accreditation

Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.

official-report

Three approvals decide whether a seat here is worth taking, and all three are documented. The Pharmacy Council of India approval and the affiliation to I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar are printed on the same footer line of the college's self-disclosure certificate, under the principal's seal and signature, which makes that one page the shortest way to check both at once. The annual report for 2024-25 records NAAC Grade A accreditation, and the prospectus states the same grade. Recognition under section 2(f) of the UGC Act is published as a separate document, and that letter is worth opening rather than taking on trust: the University Grants Commission lists the college under non-government colleges teaching up to master's degree and records it as un-aided or self-financed and temporarily affiliated to the university, not permanently.

The college also claims Grade A in a Quality Council of India NABET and PCI assessment, with first place in Punjab, on its awards list. That claim carries no link to the assessing body's own record, so it rests on the college's word in a way the approvals above do not. The NAAC certificate it publishes is a scanned image rather than searchable text, so the grade can be read by a person and not checked automatically by anything. Quote the annual report or the prospectus for the grade instead of that scan.

A council approval covers named programmes for a named period, so the two routes to check hardest here are the ones the annual report's list of six leaves out: the lateral entry and the post-baccalaureate Pharm.D. Ask for the approval covering the exact programme and session you are joining, in writing.

Scholarships

The college publishes no scholarship amounts and no claim schedule. The only scheme it names is in its prospectus, which says against each master's branch that a scholarship is available to eligible students as per PCI, alongside the direct-admission share described above. That sentence carries no amount, no closing date and no application route. What exists instead is money moving through two other channels, and the ranking filing quantifies the larger of them.

Its 2025 submission puts 201 undergraduates on a full tuition fee reimbursement paid out of institution funds, against 73 on a government one, and leaves nobody in its economically backward and socially challenged count going without. Whatever the college calls that internally, on its own filing it is the single largest source of fee relief on this campus, and it is larger than the government stream by some way. Ask the admission cell in writing what the institution-funded reimbursement is called, who qualifies and whether it renews each year, because no page on the site answers any of those three questions.

The second channel is the counselling itself. Five tuition-fee-waiver places sit in the B.Pharmacy matrix and are filled through a scheme with its own guidelines and its own closing rank, which was 402 in the first round of 2025-26. Guidelines for scheduled caste students admitted under the Post Matric Scholarship scheme are published on the same counselling page as the waiver rules. Both sets of rules are reissued each cycle, so the terms behind that 402 are not automatically the terms on offer when you register.

Student Reviews

Expertie does not publish a rating for this college, because no verified body of student reviews exists for it that we can stand behind. The testimonials on the college's own pages are signed, attached to employers and selected by the institution, which makes them recruitment material rather than independent feedback, and they are not a substitute for asking current students directly.

If you can reach one, the questions with the most value here are narrow ones: which year the 14 lakh package belongs to, how many of the placed undergraduates were placed through the campus drive rather than on their own, whether the institution-funded fee reimbursement renewed for them, and how a Regulatory Affairs cohort has fared in a branch that filled through neither counselling round.
