About FREESHIP (UG STUDENTS ONLY)
The Freeship for undergraduate students (less than ₹1,00,000) is run by the office of the Dean, Student Welfare at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. It exempts eligible undergraduate students from tuition fees.
GBPUAT is a state agricultural university, established in 1960 at Pantnagar and regarded as the first agricultural university set up in independent India. Its Dean, Student Welfare office administers student housing, sports and a range of financial aid, and offers freeship in tuition fees to undergraduate students on a merit-cum-means basis.
The scheme is meant for undergraduate students at the university who come from low-income families. Selection rests with the Dean, Student Welfare, and the tuition waiver applies once a student is approved. Postgraduate and other applicants fall outside its scope.
