Overview

About 6ISLBSA

The 6% Interest Subsidy on Loans taken through Banks for Study Abroad is a state scheme of the Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat. It is run through the Gujarat Tribal Development Corporation (Adijati Vikas Nigam), the state body that handles tribal welfare loans and foreign-study support.

The scheme works alongside a regular education loan. When a Scheduled Tribe student borrows from a bank to study overseas, the state covers a share of the interest on that loan for a set period. The benefit offsets part of the interest cost, rather than adding a fresh loan or waiving fees, so the household carries a smaller borrowing burden.

It is meant for individual ST students who are residents of Gujarat and have taken a bank loan to fund higher studies abroad. The interest ceiling, the covered period and the documents required are fixed by the department, and a student applies through the corporation once the loan is in place.
