Amity University, Uttar Pradesh is the Noida flagship of the Amity group, and it is the campus most people mean when they search "Amity University Noida". It is a state private university established in 2005, and the government's National Institutional Ranking Framework placed it 37th overall in India in its 2025 tables.

One thing trips students up before anything else, so settle it first. "Amity University" is not a single institution. The Amity group runs a whole set of separate state private universities, each set up under its own state law and each carrying its own registration, so Amity in Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and elsewhere are legally distinct from this one. This page is only about the Noida campus in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, the group's original and largest university. A fee, cutoff, placement or ranking figure quoted for "Amity" is worth nothing until you know it belongs to this campus and not a sister university with the same brand.

Overview

Amity University, Uttar Pradesh is a self-financed private university, recognised by the University Grants Commission and a member of the Association of Indian Universities, so it sits inside the formal university system while running its own admissions and setting its own fees. The whole institution sits on one campus in Noida, taught through a wide set of in-house Institutes and Schools that each hold a discipline end to end.

Two things about it change how you read every other figure on this page. It is private, so no state counselling pool feeds it seats and no government entrance books a place; the university owns both the selection and the price. And the government ranks it under seven separate NIRF headings at once, not only as a university, so what it is worth to you turns on the subject you came for rather than on the Amity name as a whole.

Courses & Fees

Amity Noida teaches the professional and the academic side by side, engineering and technology, management, law, biotechnology and the life sciences, pharmacy, communication and media, architecture and planning, the pure sciences, computer applications, and the social sciences and humanities, each run by its own Institute or School. Its heaviest applicant demand sits on the B.Tech branches, the MBA at Amity Business School, the integrated law degrees at Amity Law School and the professional pharmacy and biotechnology courses.

There is no one Amity fee to quote, because the number is fixed course by course and specialisation by specialisation and moved every admission cycle. What you actually pay is the per-year tuition listed against your exact programme on Amity's official admission pages; the same B.Tech can carry a different figure across two specialisations, and an aggregator's number is often a cycle behind. The sticker sits high because Amity takes no government subsidy and funds its campus and laboratories from fees, but a merit scholarship keyed to your board or entrance result can pull the net cost down, so budget from the post-waiver figure your own marks earn rather than the headline.

Admissions

Admission to Amity Noida is run by the university's own process, not by a single national entrance exam. The base is your class 12 result for an undergraduate course, or your graduation result for a postgraduate one, combined with Amity's own selection, which for many programmes includes a written test or an interview stage. Meeting the qualifying marks for your chosen programme is what establishes eligibility; the university then decides admission on its own criteria.

The private-university mix is the part worth understanding clearly. For some programmes Amity also accepts national test scores as one accepted input into that process, but there is no one exam that books a seat across the university the way a common counselling rank would, so treating a single national score as your guaranteed route in is a mistake. Apply through the official admission portal, confirm exactly what your specific programme asks for, and plan for Amity's own selection step rather than assuming one national exam decides it.

Cutoff

There is no closing rank to chase at Amity Noida, because it fills seats from its own applicant pool rather than from a central merit list the way a JoSAA or state-counselling seat does. Nothing here behaves like an engineering rank that drops round by round. What gates you instead is the eligibility bar your specific programme sets, the qualifying class 12 marks in the required subjects for an undergraduate seat, or the graduation percentage for a postgraduate one, read together with how you do in whatever test or interview that programme runs.

So plan against your programme's published eligibility, not a carried-over "Amity cutoff" from an aggregator, which almost always turns out to be a minimum qualifying mark dressed up as a competitive rank. Where a programme also weighs a national score, that feeds the same in-house decision rather than setting a rank of its own.

Placements

Amity's hiring figures come from its own placement cell, not an audited third-party count, so read them as the university's reporting and not as a verified record. Its placement pages are still the useful part, because they list the actual recruiter drives, the eligibility notices branch by branch and the companies that have hired in past seasons, which is what tells you who turns up on campus for, say, a B.Tech in computer science against a biotechnology or communication cohort.

Any single high package on a banner is one standout offer, not the salary a typical graduate lands. Amity does not put out an audited average or median for the Noida campus that an outside page could reproduce, so the figure that should drive your decision, what a mid-cohort student realistically earns, is exactly the one the marketing does not carry. For the recruiters and the eligibility rules live this cycle, read the placement page for your own programme.

Seat Matrix

Amity Noida publishes no single consolidated seat matrix; sanctioned intake lives inside each Institute, programme by programme, under whichever regulator governs that field, the Bar Council of India for the law degrees, the Pharmacy Council of India for pharmacy, the Council of Architecture for architecture, and the All India Council for Technical Education for the technical and management courses. For the seats actually sanctioned in a branch this cycle, the number that holds is the one on that programme's own admission page, reissued each season, not a count copied from a past year.

Rankings

The Ministry of Education's National Institutional Ranking Framework measures Amity Noida on more fronts than it applies to most private universities. In 2025 it comes in 22nd among universities and 37th overall, and its two strongest single-discipline finishes are professional fields, agriculture at 15th and pharmacy at 18th.

The rest of the spread is why the profile rewards reading discipline by discipline. Amity Noida also ranks 37th in engineering, 38th in research and 49th in management. Seven ranked headings from a single campus mark it as a broad performer rather than a one-subject name, and the ordering is the part that should steer you: agriculture and pharmacy sit at the top, management is the softest of the set, so if the MBA is your reason for looking, the number that speaks to you is that 49, not the university headline. Match the table to the course you actually want, not the brand.

Departments

Amity Noida is put together from Institutes and Schools rather than affiliated colleges, and each carries its own faculty, laboratories and programmes. The bigger ones map straight onto the fields it ranks in: Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity Business School, Amity Law School, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity School of Communication, and Amity School of Architecture and Planning, alongside Institutes in the pure sciences, computer applications and the social sciences.

That is the reason NIRF can rank the place separately in engineering, management, pharmacy, agriculture and research: each of those is a full faculty here, not a wing of one college. For the current roster of Institutes and the programmes each one runs, the academics section of the official site keeps pace with the admission cycle in a way an outside list will not.

Facilities & Infrastructure

Because Amity Noida is one campus in Gautam Buddha Nagar rather than a set of colleges spread over a city, its teaching blocks, laboratories, libraries, hostels and sports grounds sit on the same site. In practice that means a single campus visit walks you past the Institutes, the central library and the residential blocks in one go, and the great majority of students live on or right beside the grounds.

There is no single facilities list that Amity certifies and freezes, so any description written from outside goes stale quickly. When you want the current state of one thing, a particular lab, the central library, the sports complex, the honest move is to open Amity's own campus pages for it rather than lean on a third-party summary.

Hostel

Amity runs residential hostels on the Noida campus, so for anyone moving in from another state the room-and-mess bill is a real second line in the year alongside tuition. What a place costs turns on the hostel block and whether you take a shared or a single room, and those rates are listed by category, never as one headline hostel price. Lock down the rate for your exact room type from the official hostel and fee pages before you total the year, because a shared bed and a single room sit a long way apart on the bill.

Faculty

Amity Noida's teaching staff are attached to their Institutes, not to one central faculty roll, so the engineering, management, law, biotechnology, pharmacy, science and humanities faculties each keep their own academics. Amity publishes no dependable university-wide headcount, and the staff list and the student-to-teacher ratio that matter to you are the ones on your own Institute's pages. In the rankings above, NIRF absorbs this teaching strength into its scoring rather than reporting it as a standalone number you could quote on its own.

Notable Alumni

Amity Noida has been graduating classes across engineering, business, law and the sciences since the mid-2000s, and its alumni now work through industry, startups and the professions. Names belong here only when each one can be tied to a checkable public record, and nothing that survives that test is on hand for this campus, so rather than repeat claims that cannot be attributed, the section is held open until the sourcing exists.

News & Articles

Amity puts its admission notices, event coverage, convocation updates and campus newsletters onto the official site rather than a single syndicated feed, and that is where a time-sensitive item, a moved admission window, a fresh scholarship notice, a result date, lands first. When something is dated, go to the Amity page for it before you trust a third-party digest to have caught the change.

College Compare

Placed next to the other large private universities of the Delhi NCR belt, Amity Noida's real signature is the breadth of its NIRF record, pharmacy and agriculture near the top of their national tables and a university standing among the stronger private names, a wider ranked footprint than most private peers its size can show. Students along the Noida and Greater Noida corridor usually frame it as "Sharda or Amity", and there is no blanket answer: the two overlap on courses but diverge on price and on where each one ranks. The way to settle it is one programme at a time, checking how that specific course ranks, what it costs you net of any waiver, and which of the two campuses you would rather spend three or four years on, rather than trusting the louder brand.
