National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Speciality Courses

NEET SS, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Speciality Courses, is the common national entrance test for admission to super-specialty medical courses at government and private medical colleges across India. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, conducts it. It serves as the prescribed eligibility-cum-ranking test for these courses under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.

The test covers admission to DM (Doctorate of Medicine) and MCh seats along with most DrNB super-specialty courses, other than the Direct 6-Year DrNB programmes. To sit for it you need a recognised MD, MS or DNB postgraduate qualification in the relevant parent (or feeder) broad specialty for the super-specialty group you are applying to. That prior eligibility is governed by the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations.

NEET SS is a computer-based test at the postgraduate super-specialty level, national in scope and held once a year. Candidates who qualify go on to all-India super-specialty counselling for DM, MCh and DrNB seats at medical colleges, institutes and DNB-accredited hospitals. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts that counselling.
