About AIAPGET

AIAPGET is where an Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani or Homoeopathy graduate competes for an MD or MS seat in their own system, on a paper set for that discipline. For 2026-27 it is the common test for All India Quota and State Quota seats alike, and every AYUSH college, institution, university and deemed university has been told not to run an entrance exam of its own. The National Testing Agency's part ends with the result: the Ayush Admissions Central Counseling Committee (AACCC) and the state counselling authorities allot the seats, each through its own website.

The 2026 papers were sat on 22 August 2026, the date in the AIAPGET 2026 Information Bulletin. The internship cut-off that decided who could sit them was pushed back after that bulletin appeared, and as of 15 September 2026 the result had not been declared.

NTA has conducted AIAPGET since 2019 on behalf of the Ministry of Ayush, the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), according to the AIAPGET 2026 Information Bulletin. The legal footing for one uniform postgraduate entrance test is Section 16 of the NCISM Act 2020 for Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha, and Section 16 of the NCH Act 2020 for Homoeopathy.

The bulletin confines NTA to six jobs: registering candidates, conducting the exam, displaying answer keys, inviting challenges, declaring the result and handing the data to NCISM and NCH. Eligibility, reservation, internship requirements, recognition of qualifications, counselling and admission sit with NCISM, NCH and the counselling authorities, which is why a question about a seat goes to AACCC or a state authority and not to NTA.

Ayurveda graduates made up about seven in ten of the candidates in the last cycle with a published result. NTA's AIAPGET 2025 result press release gave the split by system, along with the languages each system's paper was offered in that year.

Important dates

The bulletin fixed every date up to exam day except the city slip and the admit card, which it left to later announcement. Those, the answer key challenge and a re-examination at one Jaipur centre came from NTA notices issued while the cycle ran.

Set for 22 August in the bulletin, the 2026 sitting came later in the year than the two before it. NTA held AIAPGET 2025 on 4 July 2025 and declared its result on 30 July 2025, per the 2025 result press release, and held AIAPGET 2024 on 6 July 2024 with the result on 31 July 2024, per the AIAPGET 2024 result notice.

Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

Chapter 3 of the bulletin decides who could sit the 2026 paper:

• Degree: a BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS or Graded BHMS degree, or a provisional pass certificate, recognised under the IMCC 1970, HCC 1973, NCISM 2020 or NCH 2020 Acts, per the AIAPGET 2026 Information Bulletin.
• Registration: a permanent or provisional registration certificate for that qualification, issued by the erstwhile CCIM or CCH, NCISM, NCH or a State or UT board.
• Internship: the one-year compulsory rotatory internship completed, or due to be completed, by the cut-off. The bulletin put that at 31 August 2026 "or such date as may be notified by NCISM/NCH from time to time", and the original completion certificate has to be produced at counselling.
• Citizenship: Indian citizens only.
• Age: no upper age limit.

The internship date moved while registration was still open. NCISM's public notice on internship completion for appearing in AIAPGET-2026, dated 17 July 2026, extended the cut-off from 31 August 2026 to 31 October 2026 for Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani. NTA's public notice extending the internship completion cut-off then applied the revised date to all four systems, Homoeopathy included, citing communications from both NCISM and NCH, and left every other provision of the bulletin unchanged. Anyone whose internship ends after the notified cut-off is out: the bulletin has such requests summarily rejected and tells candidates not to canvass for an exception.

Official documents from consecutive cycles read differently on who may take part. AACCC's PG information bulletin for 2025-26 said NRI, OCI and PIO candidates were eligible for admission to ASU&H PG courses after qualifying AIAPGET-2025, while the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin says candidates must be Indian citizens to apply.

Doctors already pursuing any PG course, through either quota, get a specific warning in section 3.5 of the bulletin: some universities will not admit them until that course is finished, and NTA, NCISM and NCH accept no responsibility if an admission is refused on that ground.

Reservation follows central norms in every course: 10% of seats for EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL on the central list, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST, with 5% of the sanctioned intake in government and government-aided institutions filled by candidates with benchmark disabilities, per the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin. OBC candidates who appear only on a state list cannot claim OBC reservation, and institutes run, aided or recognised by a state government apply that state's policy.

Step by step

Application process and fee

The AIAPGET 2026 form was online only, one per candidate, on exams.nta.nic.in/aiapget, and closed on 30 July 2026. The bulletin splits it into three steps: register and note the system-generated application number, complete the form with exam-city choices and uploads, then pay. The confirmation page is generated only after the payment succeeds.

NTA's notice inviting applications lists the identity measures introduced for AIAPGET 2026: Aadhaar authentication, which was encouraged but not compulsory; a live photograph captured by webcam, or by phone through a QR code, which also appears on the admit card and scorecard; and UDID-based verification for candidates claiming disability. The bulletin sets upload limits of 10 to 200 KB for the photograph, 10 to 30 KB for the signature and 50 to 300 KB for a disability certificate in PDF.

Bank or gateway charges come on top of that fee, with GST at 18% on those charges, while the bulletin's payment annexure lists no charge for UPI or RuPay debit cards. The fee, once paid, is neither refunded nor carried forward, per the bulletin.

The one-time correction window on 1 and 2 August 2026 had fixed limits, set out in NTA's correction notice. Mobile number, email and address could not be changed; only one of the candidate's, father's or mother's name could be edited; category, date of birth, qualification details, signature and exam-city preferences were open, with any extra fee charged where the change affected it.

Before the exam

Admit card and exam day

NTA posted AIAPGET 2026 admit cards on its admit card page on 18 August 2026, after an advance city intimation slip that its city intimation notice stressed was not the admit card. On 22 August 2026, the date in the bulletin, Ayurveda sat from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy together from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., according to NTA's admit card release notice.

Section 7.3 of the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin lists what to bring: a printed admit card, one passport photograph matching the uploaded one for the attendance sheet, an original, valid government photo ID, and a PwBD certificate or UDID card where it applies. A candidate whose name has changed, after marriage or otherwise, also needs the supporting document. Inside, the only extras allowed are a transparent ball point pen, a transparent water bottle and, for diabetic candidates, sugar tablets or fruit such as a banana, apple or orange; phones, smart watches, calculators, books and any stationery other than that pen are barred.

Two lists in the bulletin disagree on which identity documents count. The advisory near the front accepts a college identity card or a bank passbook with photograph, while section 7.3 asks for a government photo ID, and the bulletin separately tells candidates to follow the instructions printed on the admit card strictly on the day.

In the exam room, the invigilator announces the login password shortly before the start, and the screen shows the photograph uploaded with the application beside one taken at the centre. Rough work goes only on the sheets supplied, which have to be dropped in the box on leaving, and the server-clock timer ends the test by itself, per the CBT procedure annexed to the bulletin.

Structure

Exam pattern

The paper on screen is the one for the discipline printed on the admit card, and the bulletin tells candidates to alert the invigilator if it differs. Which languages it comes in depends on the system: Ayurveda in Hindi and English, Homoeopathy in English only, Siddha in Tamil and English, and Unani in Urdu and English. Where a translation or construction is ambiguous, the English version is final.

Every question is a single-correct multiple choice question with four options, an unattempted question scores nothing, and no calculator is permitted. Two rules settle disputed questions after the answer-key challenge. Where the revised key has more than one correct option or a changed answer, only candidates who marked an option the revised key accepts get the marks. If a technical error forces a question out of the paper, NTA awards its full marks to all candidates, including those who skipped it.

Syllabus

Section 2.2 of the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin borrows the syllabus from each discipline's degree rules, defining it as the "subject's/knowledge areas as per the Graduate Level Education Regulations of respective discipline issued by NCISM/NCH", and points candidates to the two commissions' websites for the complete text. The same bulletin gives no subject-wise or section-wise split of the 120 questions.

Those graduate-level regulations are the degree-course rules for the candidate's own system. The About AACCC page on the AACCC website lists, among the Acts and gazette notifications behind its counselling scheme, the NCISM minimum-standards regulations of 2022 for undergraduate Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani education, and the NCH regulations of 2022 for the BHMS degree course with their 2025 amendment.

How to prepare

Preparation and books

The AIAPGET 2026 bulletin names no textbooks, reference books or official preparation material, so the graduate-level regulations above are the document that defines scope.

What NTA does hand back is each candidate's own attempt. Under section 9.1 of the bulletin, the AIAPGET website shows every candidate the paper they sat alongside the responses the system recorded, a public notice fixes when, and the viewing is likely to last two to three days. Treat that paper as private: the bulletin's non-disclosure terms class all examination content as confidential and the intellectual property of NTA and the concerned authorities, and its unfair-means chapter covers sharing memory-based questions or publishing questions on social media, websites or messaging apps. The penalties it lists run from cancelled candidature or result to debarment from NTA exams and prosecution under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

Where it is held

Exam centres

Each applicant ranked four preferred exam cities, all drawn from Annexure 6 of the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin, and NTA follows that ranking only as far as logistics allow. It can allot a nearby or different city, merge cities with very few candidates, and move a candidate out of a regional-language city that too few chose. The annexure also says a city once opted cannot be changed, although NTA's 2026 correction notice did open exam-city preferences to edits during the correction window.

For the previous two cycles, NTA's AIAPGET 2025 result press release records 246 centres in 100 cities, and its AIAPGET 2024 result notice records 211 examination centres in 100 cities.

One centre had to hold a re-sit. NTA's re-examination notice attributes a power failure at Shri Satya Sai PG College, Jaipur, to Eduquity Career Technologies Private Limited, the exam conducting agency, and says 49 candidates there could not finish the paper. NTA expressed regret and re-examined them on 1 September 2026 from 10:00 a.m. at Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women, Jaipur, as the notice list on the AIAPGET official website also records.

After the exam

Answer key

A challenge to the AIAPGET provisional answer key costs a non-refundable Rs 200 per question, paid online within the challenge window, per the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin. A challenge sent without payment, after the deadline, by any other route or without justification is not considered. Valid challenges go to a panel of subject experts, the key is revised where a challenge is upheld, and NTA does not tell individual candidates whether theirs was accepted.

For AIAPGET 2026, NTA posted the provisional keys with question papers and recorded responses on 3 September 2026 and accepted challenges until 11:59 p.m. on 5 September 2026, per its answer key notice. The notice's step-by-step procedure warns that question IDs in the key are not in sequential order, so each one has to be matched against the question paper before it is challenged.

Scores

Result and scorecard

The AIAPGET result is prepared on the final answer key and hosted only on the AIAPGET website, with no scorecard sent by post or email and no re-checking or re-evaluation. The bulletin uses raw marks for the merit list, makes AIAPGET 2026 scores valid only for the 2026-27 session unless the competent authority notifies otherwise, and entertains a grievance about the result only within 30 days of its declaration.

Equal marks are separated in this order under the bulletin:

1. Whoever marked fewer incorrect answers anywhere in the paper goes ahead.
2. If they are still level, the higher aggregate percentage in the full BAMS, BUMS, BHMS or BSMS course wins.
3. If that is level too, the older candidate is placed first.

As of 15 September 2026, NTA had not declared the AIAPGET 2026 result. The AIAPGET official website, its footer showing a last update on 4 September 2026, listed the answer key challenge as its newest candidate activity and carried no final answer key, and the bulletin says only that the result date will be announced on the website.

The 2025 announcement shows what a result release contains: subject-wise counts, category-wise and gender-wise breakdowns, the cut-off percentile table and the topper in each system. In the AIAPGET 2025 result press release, the top marks out of 480 were 381 in Ayurveda, 386 in Homoeopathy, 304 in Siddha and 338 in Unani.

Cutoff

The AIAPGET 2026 bulletin sets no qualifying percentile, and as of 15 September 2026 NTA had published no 2026 result, which is where the 2025 line appeared. The line NTA applied most recently, in its AIAPGET 2025 result press release, was the 50th percentile for UR/EWS candidates, the 45th for UR/EWS candidates with disabilities, and the 40th for OBC, SC, ST and OBC candidates with disabilities. The same release turned each line into marks for every system, and the table gives the lowest mark that cleared it.

Those are qualifying marks from the 2025 result, not admission cut-offs, and they do not carry over to AIAPGET 2026. Qualifying only makes a candidate eligible to be considered: the bulletin is explicit that neither qualifying nor a higher rank gives any automatic right to admission.

The percentile line has been lowered after results before. AACCC's notice on the revised qualifying percentile for AIAPGET 2024 says the minimum qualifying percentile was reduced by 15 percentile across all categories in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy for 2024-25 admissions, and the AACCC PG archive also carries a revised third-round schedule for 2023-24 issued in view of a revised qualifying percentile.

Getting a seat

Counselling and seat allotment

Seat allotment is split between AACCC, which runs under NCISM, and the state and UT authorities:

• AACCC: 15% All India Quota PG seats in government and government-aided ASU&H institutes of every state and UT, 100% of PG seats in deemed universities established under a Central Act, national institute seats other than state, institutional or nominated seats, and the All India and institutional quota seats of Banaras Hindu University, per the About AACCC page.
• State and UT counselling authorities: State Quota seats, allotted on AIAPGET merit, subject choice and each authority's own eligibility, domicile and reservation rules, per the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin.

AACCC's PG information bulletin for 2025-26 drew further lines for that session. All India Quota PG seats in private ASU&H institutes were counselled by the state or UT authority, AACCC had no role in Central Government Nominee or foreign quota seats, and every PG seat in a deemed university was domicile-free and unreserved, although some deemed universities could carry minority reservations such as Jain or Muslim minority seats. At BHU, 50% of Ayurveda PG seats were All India Quota and 50% were institutional seats for BHU's own BAMS graduates.

The 2025-26 counselling scheme ran four online rounds for government, central university, national institute and deemed university seats: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and a stray vacancy round in two allotments, SVR-I and SVR-II. Leaving a seat got harder as the rounds went on, and a candidate who exited a seat allotted in Round 3 or either stray vacancy allotment forfeited the counselling fees and became ineligible for every Ayush PG counselling, central or state, for 2025-26. After the stray vacancy round, the AACCC PG archive shows online physical spot rounds for seats still vacant, scheduled into January 2026.

Counselling carries its own fee, paid at AACCC registration, separate from the AIAPGET application fee.

Registering for both kinds of seat cost the deemed university amount alone, not the two added together, under the fee answers in that bulletin.

For 2026-27, AACCC's PG counselling page says it will conduct counselling for AIAPGET-2026 qualifiers across these seat types and asks candidates to register on its website. With its footer showing a last update on 14 September 2026, that page's news ticker and candidate activity board still read "Coming soon", and AACCC's PG information bulletin page and PG counselling schedule page listed no documents.

Where it is accepted

Participating institutes

The cover of the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin limits the test to MD/MS courses in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy for 2026-27. The bulletin nowhere mentions a PG diploma course or Sowa-Rigpa.

AACCC's PG information bulletin for 2025-26 names the national institutes whose seats it filled that year. It took 100% of PG seats at ITRA Jamnagar, NIH Kolkata, NIH Narela, NHRIMH Kottayam, NIUM Bangalore, NIUM Ghaziabad, NRIUMSD Hyderabad, RRIUM Srinagar and NIS Chennai, and 50% at NIA Jaipur, AIIA Delhi, AIIA Goa, NEIAH Shillong and the Unani seats of AMU Aligarh, with nominated seats excluded at several of them. The bulletin marks those shares as tentative, because which institutes appear in each round depends on the permission each holds.

That permission is checked again for 2026-27. NCISM's advisory on counselling and admission for 2026-27 allows only Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani colleges holding permission from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board or NCISM for that session to take part in counselling. Where a college's seats rest on a High Court interim order, the principal, and the candidate together with a parent, each have to give a notarised affidavit-cum-undertaking, and the admission stays provisional until the court decides.
