ICAR All India Entrance Examination for Admission (Undergraduate) — now CUET (ICAR-UG)
Overview
About ICAR AIEEA UG
ICAR AIEEA UG, the All India Entrance Examination for Admission at the undergraduate level, is the national entrance route into agriculture and allied-science bachelor programmes at India's agricultural universities. The National Testing Agency conducts it on behalf of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
For the state agricultural, veterinary, horticultural and fisheries universities in the ICAR system, the exam fills the All India Quota, a share of undergraduate seats each institution reserves for candidates from across the country. At the ICAR deemed-to-be universities such as IARI, IVRI, NDRI and CIFE, and at central institutions such as RLBCAU Jhansi and Dr. RPCAU Pusa, the same exam fills the full undergraduate intake. A qualifying rank opens admission to programmes such as B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and related streams, while veterinary science is admitted through its own route.
From the 2023-24 academic year, ICAR moved this undergraduate stream out of the standalone AIEEA-UG format and into CUET (ICAR-UG), the ICAR domain of the Common University Entrance Test (Undergraduate). NTA runs it as a computer-based online test at the national level, with domain papers drawn from the Class XII syllabus in subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and agriculture. Postgraduate admission through ICAR AIEEA PG and the doctoral AICE-JRF/SRF test remain separate, and are also conducted by NTA.
