New Delhi Institute Of Management

South East, Delhi Est. 1992 Official site Updated
NIRF Management
#86

New Delhi Institute of Management publishes a hard entry bar instead of a description of one. Its filing with AICTE puts the qualifying mark at 70 percentile on CAT, XAT, CMAT or ATMA and at a MAT composite score of 610 for the flagship diploma, and the same figures have been entered for three admission cycles running. Two more numbers frame the decision: Rs 6,90,000 for the first year of the 2026-28 diploma, and a median salary of Rs 10,12,000 for the batch that finished in 2024-25, a year in which the institute recorded 500 of its 500 on-time graduates placed. The percentile bar and the median come out of returns NDIM files with the government, and the fee off its own published fee card for a named batch. None of the three is a placement poster.

Overview

NDIM occupies plots 60 and 50 (B&C) in the Tughlakabad Institutional Area, behind Batra Hospital, and works from that single address rather than a campus spread across the city, as its contact page shows. The institute is run by the Society for Employment and Career Counselling, which its admissions notes date to 1992. Dr Gauri Modwel is the director, and the chairman is Vishwa Mohan Bansal, described on the institute's board page as a civil servant who served the Government of India and the Governments of Punjab and Delhi over a long career; the same page lists the former union minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu among the directors, with a biography that has not been updated since he held office.

The qualification is a Post Graduate Diploma in Management, and the mandatory disclosure answers the printed question about an affiliating university with one word: AICTE. No university stands behind the parchment. The council approved the flagship diploma in 1996 and raised its sanctioned strength to 240 in 2015, so the diploma has been running under central technical-education approval for close to three decades.

Two NDIMs run off the same stretch of that institutional area, and telling them apart is the first thing to get right. The one NIRF ranks is this standalone postgraduate institute on plots 60 and 50 (B&C). The other is at 61 Tughlakabad Institutional Area, a college affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University that teaches BBA and BCA. They are not strangers to each other: the society address entered in the AICTE filing covers plots 60, 61 and 50 (B&C) as one holding. What does not cross between them is the regulation. Approval, entrance tests, cutoffs, fees, seats and placement filings belong to one institute or the other, so an NDIM BBA cutoff or an IPU counselling rank is the neighbour's number and not the PGDM's.

Courses & Fees

Three of the four approved programmes are the same two-year diploma pointed in a different direction, and the price is identical whichever direction is chosen. The mandatory disclosure records the general PGDM, a finance-badged PGDM (F), a marketing-badged PGDM (M) and the doctoral Fellow Programme, each with its own AICTE sanction and the year that sanction was granted.

Pricing is published as two annual figures with no head-by-head break-up, which makes it easy to read and impossible to audit line by line. The fee page puts the 2026-28 diploma at Rs 6,90,000 in the first year and Rs 6,85,000 in the second, or four instalments of Rs 3,45,000, Rs 3,45,000, Rs 3,45,000 and Rs 3,40,000 for anyone paying by semester, with a convenience charge of Rs 5,000 a year for choosing that route. The institute states that the figure covers everything except hostel and the optional international study tours.

The doctoral programme is priced on a different scale and by the semester. Its own page sets the full-time Fellow Programme at Rs 50,000 a semester and the executive version at Rs 45,000, six semesters each and the same amount again for every further semester until the thesis is submitted, which makes the total a function of how long the thesis takes rather than a published number.

One caution belongs beside those figures. The 2026 filing with AICTE enters the fee as Rs 6,40,000 for year one and Rs 6,35,000 for year two, identical across all three diplomas, and it attaches no batch to them at all. The fee page names a batch and quotes more. Neither document dates the other's figure, so the batch-labelled price is the one to budget against, and the amount to get in writing is the one for the batch actually being joined.

Admissions

Selection here is deliberately weighted away from the entrance test, and NDIM prints the arithmetic. Its mandatory disclosure sets out the criteria and their weights for all three diplomas and for the Fellow Programme.

Selection criterionWeight
Score in graduation, the qualifying examination30%
Aptitude test: CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, GMAT or a state CET30%
Two rounds of semi-structured personal interview15%
Group discussion10%
Work experience10%
Extra-curricular achievement5%

Read the first two rows together. A degree transcript counts for exactly as much as a CAT score, and the two rounds of interview plus the group discussion come to a quarter of the total between them. A candidate with a strong graduation percentage and a moderate percentile is being scored on a sheet that suits them; a candidate with the reverse profile should not expect the percentile alone to carry the application here.

The gate before all that is ordinary. The eligibility page asks for a degree in any stream from a university approved or recognised by the UGC or AIU, with a minimum of 50% in graduation for general-category candidates and 45% for reserved-category candidates; students sitting final-year examinations by June 2026 or awaiting results may apply for the 2026-28 batch. The application fee is Rs 1,000 and is not refundable, and shortlisted applicants are called for the group discussion and interviews, which the institute conducts at the Delhi campus and also online, per its interview schedule page. Reservation for SC, ST, OBC and other categories follows AICTE directions, and unfilled seats in those categories go to general candidates.

Cutoff

The cutoff question has a printed answer here. The mandatory disclosure carries a qualifying mark for five entrance tests, given separately for each diploma, and repeats it for the 2023-25, 2024-26 and 2025-27 cycles without a single change.

XAT70 percentile70 percentile70 percentile
CMAT70 percentile70 percentile70 percentile
ATMA70 percentile70 percentile70 percentile
MAT610 composite score600 composite score600 composite score

Only the MAT row breaks the pattern. It is stated as a composite score on that test's own scale rather than as a percentile, and the flagship diploma asks 10 points more of it than the two specialised diplomas do. Everything else is flat at 70 percentile: every test, every diploma, every year filed.

The same document does not say this only once, and the two versions disagree. Earlier in the filing, where each diploma is written up on its own, MAT sits at 70 percentile alongside the other four tests with no composite score anywhere near it. The table above is the one entered under the admission-criteria heading and is the stricter of the two readings, so a MAT candidate should work to 610 and ask the admissions office in writing which version is being applied this season.

A bar that never moves is a floor, not a forecast. It tells a candidate whether an application will be read; it does not tell them how competitive the pool was in a given season, because the weightage sheet then decides the seat on graduation marks, interviews and work experience. NDIM also states that no seats are held for particular tests, and that the admission criteria are framed to give equal opportunity to candidates from any stream and any test, so clearing 70 percentile on ATMA puts an application in the same pool as clearing it on CAT.

Placements

NDIM keeps two placement records, and they are not the same kind of document. The website sells a season. The return it enters in the government's data capturing system counts heads, one graduating year at a time, and that is the one an outsider can check.

Graduating yearGraduated in stipulated timePlacedMedian salary (Rs)
2022-234554558,60,000
2023-245055049,50,000
2024-2550050010,12,000

Across all three graduating years exactly one student is filed as unplaced, in 2023-24, when 505 finished in stipulated time and 504 were placed. The median moved with that, from Rs 8,60,000 to Rs 10,12,000 in two years. That is what gives the institute's 100% placement claim, which it says was verified by the Advertising Standards Council of India, something to stand on for these particular years. It also makes the median the figure to build a budget around, because a median says half the batch earned less than it, while a headline package says nothing at all about the middle of the room.

Salary by diploma is filed separately, and the three streams do not behave alike.

Diploma, calendar 2025MinimumMaximumAverage
PGDM4.517.38.66
PGDM (Financial Management)4.4613.529.03
PGDM (Marketing)4.516.428.42

The finance diploma pays the best average and the lowest ceiling of the three, an average of 9.03 against a maximum of 13.52, while the general PGDM tops out highest at 17.3 on a thinner average. Choosing a badge here is choosing a distribution rather than a rank, and the finance stream is the one whose outcomes cluster. The floors barely differ, and each sits below what a single year of the diploma costs, which is the scenario a family should model before it models the average.

Named recruiters are harder to pin down than the salaries. NDIM's placement pages publish company logos and student testimonials rather than a list in text, and the testimonials name Deloitte, Ernst & Young and BlackRock among the employers of individual students. The corporate resource centre that runs the season is headed by a director of corporate relations, Ms Bhumika Bansal, and is staffed with general managers drawn from industry alongside 45 management students, with 238 mentors supporting it.

Seat Matrix

Sanctioned strength and actual enrolment are filed side by side, and reading them together is the only way to see how full the diplomas run.

DiplomaEnrolled 2023-25Enrolled 2024-26Enrolled 2025-27Sanctioned intake
PGDM240240238240
PGDM (Financial Management)180180179180
PGDM (Marketing)120120178180
FPM (Business Management)10101010

The marketing row carries the recent change. AICTE lifted that diploma's sanction from 120 to 180 in 2025, and 178 students took the enlarged intake in the same year, which is why the total sanctioned PG intake NDIM reported to NIRF stood at 540 for both 2023-24 and 2024-25 and stands higher today. The other two diplomas run within a seat or two of their ceilings every year, so an applicant should plan on a full cohort rather than count on late vacancies.

Category-wise admission numbers are missing from the record entirely. Where the AICTE form asks how many students were admitted under various categories in each of the last three years, NDIM has entered NA, and the two management-quota questions beside it carry the same answer, so nothing NDIM has published shows how a reserved seat behaves here. What the NIRF return gives instead is a headcount: 1,076 students on the rolls across both years of the two-year programmes, of whom 497 are women and 905 came from outside Delhi. Two things follow from that pair. Women are close to half the room, and more than four in five of it is paying an accommodation bill on top of the fee.

Rankings

One government table carries this institute's national position. NDIM holds rank 86 in the NIRF 2025 management ranking with an overall score of 47.25, inside the ranked list and in its lower half. That composite hides more than it settles, because the five parameter scores behind it run from 3.12 to 79.83.

NIRF 2025 management parameterNDIM score
Teaching, Learning and Resources70.68
Research and Professional Practice3.12
Graduation Outcomes79.83
Outreach and Inclusivity75.23
Perception16.32

The five split three ways. Graduation outcomes of 79.83, outreach and inclusivity of 75.23 and teaching resources of 70.68 sit together in the 70s and describe an institute that fills its intake, teaches it and places it, which is what NDIM's placement filing says in different units. Perception, at 16.32, sits far below them. Then research and professional practice comes in at 3.12, and that lone figure is what pins the composite down.

NDIM's own submission accounts for that research score of 3.12 without any need to speculate. It reports no full-time doctoral scholars whatsoever, 24 part-time ones, and zero doctoral graduations in each of 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. Its library budget points the same way: capital spending on books, journals and e-resources fell from Rs 1,07,82,281 in 2022-23 to Rs 11,81,514 in 2023-24 and Rs 9,31,603 in 2024-25, a collapse of an order of magnitude in two years. A Fellow Programme sanctioned in 2022 for ten seats has had no time to generate what a research parameter counts.

Which parameter to weigh first therefore depends on the reason for applying. Anyone who wants a doctoral or research-heavy environment should treat the research score as decisive; anyone who wants a classroom and a placement season is reading the three marks above it instead.

Departments

There are no departments to speak of. NDIM teaches one diploma with a compulsory dual specialisation, and the specialisation list is what stands in for a departmental structure: business analytics built around artificial intelligence and machine learning, operations and supply chain management, financial analytics and investment management, human resource management, international business, marketing, finance and digital marketing.

The sequence explains why the badges on the diploma matter less than they look. The PGDM page describes a first semester spent entirely on business fundamentals, a second that mixes core papers with an introduction to the chosen specialisations, and a third and fourth given over to specialisation, with a summer internship, a winter internship and live projects fitted into the breaks. Everyone therefore sits the same foundation before the streams separate, which is a different design from schools that separate their intakes on day one.

Doctoral work is organised by research area rather than department too. The Fellow Programme runs in a full-time and an executive format and opens with a year of coursework in research methodology and quantitative and qualitative techniques before the thesis phase. Both routes ask for a research proposal of 1,000 to 1,500 words, a presentation of it and an interview; only the full-time route adds the institute's own written test, and NET qualifiers are given preference on that side.

Facilities & Infrastructure

The teaching estate is counted rather than described in the AICTE filing: 23 classrooms, 9 tutorial rooms, one computer centre and one seminar hall, all sized to council norms, with lifts or ramps in more than 80% of the buildings and specially designed toilets in more than 80% of them, as the NIRF submission records.

Computing is the part of the plant NDIM documents most closely, and the detail is unusual. The disclosure lists 110 machines on i5 processors, 162 on i3, 120 on i7 and 48 older Core 2 Duo units, plus 35 laptops and 23 interactive flat panels, on two 300 MBPS leased lines from Airtel and Jio, with 278 nodes configured for online examinations. The infrastructure page adds the fact most likely to matter on a test day: the institute's IT lab, described as a 300+ seater, is an approved test centre for CAT, MAT and ATMA, so a candidate can sit the entrance examination in the same room they would later study in.

The library is stocked more deeply than the recent capital spending suggests. It holds 16,302 print titles and 5,525 electronic ones, 44,175 print volumes and 28,500 electronic volumes, and 75 Indian and 18 foreign print journals. Its own page adds an Emerald subscription of 150 full-text journals, 129 magazines and journals, 14 newspapers, 101 journals received in exchange from other management institutes, 73 online journals and membership of DELNET, which reaches 1,412 libraries and roughly 62 lakh items.

Hostel

Hostel here means an arrangement with nearby buildings rather than a block inside the campus wall, and the difference shows up in the budget. The fee page says the institute has tied up separate accommodation for men and women within walking distance, that married-student accommodation is available, that some faculty live in the same buildings, and that transport to and from the campus is provided at no charge; the AICTE filing simply answers the hostel-facilities question yes.

Rooms are priced by facility rather than by a single published rate. A twin-sharing room with furniture, air cooling, an attached bathroom, wi-fi and a common television starts at Rs 9,500 a month including meals, and single occupancy, air conditioning or family accommodation costs more, with no upper figure published. That charge sits entirely outside the diploma fee, which the institute states covers everything except hostel and the optional study tours.

Accommodation is therefore the one cost a family cannot pin down from the website. With 905 of the 1,076 students in the two-year programmes coming from outside Delhi, most of the cohort is paying it, and only the entry price is on record. Ask for the actual monthly rate on the specific room being offered, and get it in writing, before treating the published fee as the full bill.

Faculty

NDIM computes its teaching ratio on permanent staff alone, which is the more conservative of the two ways to state it. Its mandatory disclosure counts 79 permanent faculty and 4 adjunct faculty, and puts the permanent faculty to student ratio at 1:14.

The turnover table underneath that is the part an applicant should actually study.

YearFaculty employedFaculty who left
2023-241613
2024-25177
2025-2671

A year in which 13 people left against 16 hired is a churning faculty room; the two years since have settled sharply. A professor named in a brochure can be tested against the roster NDIM filed with NIRF, which prints, teacher by teacher, the designation, the degree behind it, the months of experience, the date of joining and whether the post is regular or on contract. Gauri Modwel, who heads the institute, appears there as a professor with 396 months of experience and a joining date of 17-08-2008, and the same line exists for whoever will be teaching the specialisation under consideration.

Notable Alumni

The alumni NDIM chooses to publish are founders, not job titles inside large firms, and every entry carries its batch years, so each one can be looked up rather than taken on trust. Its alumni club page names Mohd Umair of the 2009-11 batch, founder and chief executive of Wigzo Technologies, Amit Roy of the 2012-14 batch, founder and chief executive of The LightHouse India, Sachin Jindal of the 2000-02 batch, a director at Jindal Fibre, and Rekha Saxena of the 1998-2000 batch, president of Sri Ram Global School.

The bias in that list is towards ownership. Its earliest entry graduated in 1998 and its most recent in 2019, and what fills the years between is ventures the alumni started themselves in retail, marketing services, financial services, education and consulting rather than senior posts inside multinationals. Whether that reads as a strength depends on the career being planned, and it sits consistently with a specialisation list that carries entrepreneurship through it. On size the institute contradicts itself: the alumni club page counts the network at over 4,000 alumni while the home page claims more than 8,000 placed PGDM alumni, so neither total belongs in a comparison.

News & Articles

One accreditation decision on this campus is genuinely open. NDIM has applied for National Board of Accreditation cover on the PGDM (Financial Management) and records that the visit is complete and the result awaited. Anyone joining the finance diploma in 2026 is joining the one stream of the three whose accreditation status can change while they are enrolled.

The paperwork behind all of this has been refreshed. NDIM has entered its data in the NIRF data capturing system for the 2026 round and hosts the submission on its own site beside a 2026 mandatory disclosure, so its placement, faculty and student-strength numbers are the institute's own latest returns and not a stale ranking-year snapshot.

Then there is the calendar. The home page dates the 2026-28 batch, its 31st, to 20 July 2026, and the 2025-27 batch, its 30th, to 22 July 2025. Set that against the placement filing: a student starting in July 2026 finishes into a recruiting season two years after the last one on record, so the filed medians describe the market NDIM sold into, not the market that student will meet.

College Compare

Ranks mean very little in the stretch of the table NDIM occupies. In the NIRF 2025 management table, NIT Calicut takes rank 85 on 47.30 and Jamia Hamdard rank 87 on 47.10, with NDIM between them on 47.25. Two-tenths of a point covers all three, a rounding difference on a 100-point scale and not one any student would experience.

Move to the Delhi private PGDM shortlist and the distance turns real. The same table puts IMI Delhi at rank 40 on 56.59 and FORE School of Management at 59 on 52.23, both awarding the same class of AICTE diploma in the same city, and both clearly ahead of NDIM's 47.25. That gap is wide enough to survive any rounding. What NDIM sets against it is a qualifying mark it has filed in writing and a fee it prints in full for a named batch, which is a different kind of certainty from a higher composite score. Price the two against each other school by school, because the rank order alone will not settle it.

One more Delhi entry belongs in the frame for anyone who came looking for the other NDIM. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University sits at 76 on 48.88 on the same table, above this institute, and it is the university that affiliates the BBA and BCA college of the same name up the road. A management ranking of the affiliating university is not a ranking of that college, but it is the only government score anywhere near it.

Contact & Location

One address carries the whole institute, and the switchboard runs a toll-free line alongside the landline.

Two details behind that table are worth knowing before dialling or setting out. The admissions help-line published on the eligibility page adds a fifth number, 09654297211, that the site footer leaves out, and the plot number matters as much as the street, because 60 and 50 (B&C) is the PGDM institute while 61 on the same road is the BBA and BCA college that shares the name.

Verified

Approvals & Accreditation

Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.

No NAAC grade attaches to this institute, and the filing explains why without being asked: where the AICTE form wants the name of an affiliating university, NDIM has written AICTE. There is no parent university to be graded through, which is the route by which a college ordinarily acquires that badge. What NDIM carries instead is programme-level accreditation, and only across part of the portfolio.

RecognitionCoversStatus
AICTE approvalPGDM, PGDM (F), PGDM (M), FPMApproved
National Board of AccreditationPGDM, PGDM (M)Accredited
National Board of AccreditationPGDM (F)Visit complete, result awaited

Two further claims appear on the institute's website but not in that filing, and they matter enough to check at source. The home page states that NDIM is accredited by NBA and has been granted equivalence to an MBA by the Association of Indian Universities, while the PGDM page instead says the diploma was granted MBA equivalence by AICTE in 2008, and accredited by ASIC in the United Kingdom since 2014. Those are two different awarding bodies for one equivalence, and the AICTE filing names neither of them. The stakes are practical: a doctoral admission committee or a government recruiter will want the diploma treated as a master's, and it is the equivalence letter that does that work, not the AICTE approval. Ask the admissions office which body issued it, in what year, and how long it runs.

Aid

Scholarships

NDIM funds its scholarships from a stated pool rather than a published rate card. The fee page says the institute has created a pool of Rs 2.5 crore for meritorious students, awarded on high percentiles in CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, GMAT or ATMA and on a strong academic record in class 12 and graduation, with the amount varying by the percentile and the examination in which it was scored. No table of amounts is published, so no applicant can calculate an award in advance.

Rebates are a separate list and turn on who the candidate is rather than on what they scored. The same page extends them to wards of defence and paramilitary personnel, siblings of NDIM students and alumni, students who took their BBA or BCom at NDIM, students from Jammu and Kashmir and the north-eastern states, SC, ST, OBC and EWS students, and wards of a single parent. All of it comes after the process, not before: an applicant has to apply online and clear the group discussion and interviews first.

Two smaller lines complete the picture. The mandatory disclosure records a merit-based scholarship for the top 15 students every semester, which is an in-programme award rather than an admission-time one, and answers the question about fee waivers granted, with amounts and student names, as NA. The NIRF return then puts a size on the help that actually lands: institution funds paid full tuition for 30 students and private bodies for another 25, state and central government reimbursement reached none at all, and 145 students carried the fee with no full waiver of any kind.

Voices

Student Reviews

Nothing that could be called an audited student rating for NDIM is in the public record. The quotations on its placement page are selected by the institute, name the employer of the student giving them, and were gathered to sell the programme, so they are advertising with a byline attached. Ratings on commercial college portals are open submissions, and NDIM neither runs nor publishes a survey of its own.

One outside opinion is collected on this institute, and it is the surprise of the record. NDIM scores 16.32 on perception in NIRF 2025. That is low on the parameter's own scale, but it is ahead of the 8.55 recorded by IMI Delhi at rank 40 and the 9.36 recorded by FORE School of Management at rank 59, two schools sitting far above NDIM overall. The name carries further than the composite score does, and it is the one reading on this institute that somebody other than the institute collected. Anyone who wants a first-hand account should work through the alumni club, since that is where former students can be reached directly.
