Shaheed Rajguru College Of Applied Sciences For Women
On 21 August 2026, with Delhi University's three allocation rounds behind it and places still empty, this college put four of its own degrees back on the market and asked applicants for nothing but their Class XII marks. Electronics, Instrumentation, Physics and Chemistry were the four, per the college's merit-based admission notice. Those are also the four that closed lowest on CUET in the first allocation round in July. A women's college named for a laboratory brief has its hardest doors in psychology and management and its easiest in the sciences it was built for, and the tables below show by how much.
Overview
Shaheed Rajguru College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi funded by the Government of NCT of Delhi, set up in 1989, and it teaches only women, as its own account records. It runs 14 degrees, on its programmes page, and thirteen of them are sciences or management. There is no commerce degree and none of the B.A. Programme subject pairings that carry much of Delhi University's undergraduate intake. The fourteenth, B.A. (Hons.) Psychology, is the only award here in the arts, and it is the hardest thing in the building to get into, so a humanities candidate has exactly one door and it is the steepest.
The ranking record is where this college has moved most. India Rankings placed it 65th among Indian colleges on a composite of 57.59 in NIRF 2025, after 38th on 58.18 in NIRF 2024. The composite barely moved while the position moved twenty-seven places, so the fall is a story about the field tightening around a nearly unchanged score, not a collapse.
Three of the five parameters fell; two rose.
| NIRF parameter | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Teaching, Learning and Resources | 61.80 | 64.36 |
| Research and Professional Practice | 60.95 | 53.96 |
| Graduation Outcomes | 68.26 | 66.38 |
| Outreach and Inclusivity | 69.40 | 69.83 |
| Perception | 3.13 | 1.91 |
Teaching resources and inclusivity improved. Research and professional practice gave up nearly seven points, graduation outcomes slipped by under two, and perception, already the weakest of the five by a distance, gave up more than a third of what little it had. Accreditation sits separately from all of it: NAAC awarded Grade A+ on a CGPA of 3.29 in the second cycle, valid to 5 December 2026, after Grade A on 3.11 in 2015, in the college's quality report for 2023-24. The same report counts 1,761 students on roll.
Courses & Fees
Every degree here is a four-year programme, every seat is filled centrally on a CUET (UG) score, and the price is nearly the same whichever one you take. The binding sheet for this cycle is the 2026-27 one on the college's fee structure page, posted there as a scanned image with no selectable text in it; read it off that page before you pay anything. The last schedule the college issued as text is the 2023-24 one in its prospectus, and it is the only one that breaks the money down head by head, which is what the two tables below do. The totals have risen since; the shape of the bill has not.
| Programme | Duration | Entrance | First-year fee 2023-24, Rs |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.A. (Hons.) Psychology | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 37,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| BBA (Financial Investment Analysis) | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 33,530 |
| Bachelor of Management Studies | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Bio-Chemistry | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Biomedical Science | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 32,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Food Technology | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Instrumentation | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology | 4 years | CUET (UG) | 22,530 |
Three of those figures carry a course fee on top of a common base, and the base itself is worth reading head by head, because tuition is almost none of it.
| Head (2023-24, first year) | Amount in Rs |
|---|---|
| Tuition fee | 180 |
| College facilities and services charges | 13,500 |
| College student welfare fund | 4,500 |
| College development fund | 2,000 |
| University development fund | 1,000 |
| University facilities and services charges | 1,000 |
| University student welfare fund | 200 |
| Economically weaker section support university fund | 150 |
| Total | 22,530 |
The three course fees sit on top of that base. Computer Science added Rs 15,000, BBA (FIA) added Rs 11,000 and Biomedical Science added Rs 10,000, in the same schedule, which is the whole of the difference between the four figures in the programme table. Foreign students pay under separate University of Delhi guidelines, and a PwD candidate pays a heavily reduced fee in every programme.
Admissions
The admission page at Vasundhara Enclave carries two lists that do different jobs. The first points outward, to the University's Common Seat Allocation System guideline for 2026-27, the registration portal and the Bulletin of Information, and for a candidate holding a CUET (UG) score it is the whole of the route. The second, headed Merit Based Admissions, is the college's own, and in July it was not there.
That second list exists because seats were still empty when the university's rounds ran out. Applications ran from 21 August to 23 August 2026, the merit list went up on 24 August, and verification and admission were fixed for 25 August and 27 August, in that notice, with four Google Forms standing in for the university portal. Selection was on Class XII marks. The top of the Physics mop-up list is an unreserved candidate at 76 per cent, which is a very different bar from the CUET score the same seat asked for in July, and the list runs downward from there.
Physics, Chemistry and Electronics each went on to a second merit list, and only Instrumentation stopped at one, on the college's admission page, which also posted a wait list on 27 August and then discontinued it the same day. The university was working the same seats in parallel: its spot round list, released on 27 August, seated candidates here in every programme except B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics. Read together, the sequence says something plain: if you are aiming at a laboratory subject here and your CUET score is short, the July list is not the last word, and August is worth watching.
Cutoff
Serials 1032 to 1045 of the first-round list are fourteen consecutive rows, one for every degree this college teaches, and the unreserved column inside them opens at 783.8573 and closes at 246.806. A spread that wide at one address, in one cycle, is why a single Shaheed Rajguru cutoff is a useless number to carry into a preference list; the row is the unit here, not the college. The university prints these only after a round has seated candidates, and for Chemistry and Mathematics it printed no scheduled-tribe figure at all, which the table below leaves blank rather than filling.
| Programme | UR | OBC-NCL | SC | ST | EWS | UR, round two |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| B.A. (Hons.) Psychology | 783.8573 | 620.8384 | 610.3938 | 512.5764 | 633.9757 | 771.0145 |
| BBA (Financial Investment Analysis) | 655.9642 | 488.186 | 413.5954 | 334.5436 | 561.5229 | 636.8514 |
| Bachelor of Management Studies | 642.2154 | 474.3887 | 409.4748 | 158.0321 | 531.0831 | 624.1033 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Biomedical Science | 624.6707 | 550.5366 | 505.4273 | 441.5278 | 554.89 | 568.0194 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics | 614.5499 | 447.259 | 323.8251 | 113.8667 | 470.4203 | 583.1091 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Bio-Chemistry | 604.9942 | 535.1603 | 453.1749 | 361.0444 | 524.97 | 555.4442 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology | 597.3649 | 532.2276 | 472.1368 | 387.6258 | 529.5284 | 543.4901 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science | 569.5518 | 474.233 | 398.0559 | 262.5774 | 501.0023 | 525.7244 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Food Technology | 557.5282 | 499.9819 | 423.5364 | 344.0199 | 480.381 | 514.5722 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics | 493.3901 | 361.8219 | 225.4933 | no score published | 374.4421 | 446.3889 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry | 306.6269 | 239.8982 | 155.5829 | no score published | 226.1016 | 259.3813 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics | 299.8388 | 210.4909 | 108.7312 | 125.4911 | 215.5579 | 241.4066 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics | 291.6189 | 214.7176 | 130.1226 | 133.8651 | 200.7058 | 239.9585 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Instrumentation | 246.806 | 173.5632 | 59.7844 | 80.6363 | 162.2611 | 185.7943 |
Read the unreserved column from the top and the college's name starts to look like a historical label rather than a description of demand. Psychology, BBA (FIA) and Bachelor of Management Studies sit at the top of it, and not one of them involves a bench. At the foot of the same column are Chemistry, Physics, Electronics and Instrumentation, precisely the set the college reopened on Class XII marks in August.
Bench size softens nothing either. Physics carries 23 unreserved places on the seat matrix, one of the larger allocations in the college, and still closed at 299.8388 in the first round; Microbiology carries 16 on the same matrix, one of the smaller benches, and closed at 597.3649. Every unreserved score came down in the second round, Biomedical Science from 624.6707 to 568.0194 and Chemistry from 306.6269 to 259.3813, in the round two list. The SC score for Instrumentation, 59.7844 in the first round, is the lowest figure the college recorded anywhere, and one cell alone refused to move: the scheduled-tribe score for Statistics stood at 113.8667 in both rounds.
Placements
Recruitment is the minority outcome here by a wide margin, and the college's returns to the Ministry of Education put numbers on the gap. The rows below cover the three-year degree, the one most of its graduates have been leaving with.
| Cohort finishing on time | Students | Placed | Median salary in Rs a year | Went to higher study |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2021-22 | 539 | 50 | 4,50,000 | 168 |
| 2022-23 | 526 | 65 | 5,00,000 | 158 |
| 2023-24 | 564 | 31 | 3,50,000 | 175 |
Not one of those years sent more women into work than into further study, and 2023-24 stretched the distance furthest: 175 headed for postgraduate study while 31 were counted as placed, on a median that had slipped to Rs 3,50,000, in that submission. The college's own quality report for the same year counts the outcome differently, at 56 placed and 129 in higher education, along with 49 students clearing national or state-level examinations such as JAM, NET, GATE and CAT, in its 2023-24 report. Neither count flatters the placement side.
The following year is starker, and the college says why itself. Its placement data for 2024-25 lists three students placed, by name, programme and employer, and attaches a note: a notable portion of the students who would have graduated in three years chose to stay for a fourth under the National Education Policy, thinning the final-year group available to place. Treat 2024-25 as a year the reform distorted rather than a signal about the college.
Package figures come from a third source and are not the same measurement. The college's College at a Glance deck reports a highest offer of 8 LPA, a mean of 7.12 LPA and a median of 6.89 LPA, printed there as CTC highlights beside the recruiters it names in technical and in management roles. The Ministry return is the median salary of everyone counted as placed out of a whole graduating cohort. Both are the college's own filings; only the second can be set against the number of students who left.
Seat Matrix
Sanctioned intake comes to 686 places, the figure the college returned to the Ministry of Education for 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 alike in its India Rankings 2025 submission. The University of Delhi publishes how those places break down, and it uses only two bench sizes for the whole college. Supernumerary places for PwBD candidates, wards of armed forces personnel and Kashmiri migrants sit on top of the five columns below.
| Programme | UR | OBC-NCL | SC | ST | EWS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| B.A. (Hons.) Psychology | 23 | 16 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science | 23 | 16 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics | 23 | 16 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics | 23 | 16 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics | 23 | 16 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
| BBA (Financial Investment Analysis) | 23 | 16 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
| Bachelor of Management Studies | 23 | 16 | 9 | 4 | 6 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Bio-Chemistry | 16 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Biomedical Science | 16 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry | 16 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics | 16 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Food Technology | 16 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Instrumentation | 16 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology | 16 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
Two of the fourteen are close to unrepeatable inside the university. B.Sc. (Hons.) Instrumentation appears on the 2026-27 seat matrix at this college and at Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, and at no other. BBA (FIA) was allocated in the first round here and at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, and nowhere else, on the round one list.
Rankings
Departments
One department stands behind each degree, and their founding dates cluster into a pattern: a small applied-science outfit that later grew a social-science and business wing.
The oldest departments date from the college's opening year of 1989, and they are Chemistry, Electronics, Food Technology, Instrumentation, Mathematics and Physics. Two of those six taught other departments' students for a quarter of a century before they had a degree of their own: Chemistry and Mathematics only introduced their honours programmes in 2016. Computer Science followed the founding six in 1998 and Biomedical Science in 2005. A second cluster arrived together in 2017: Microbiology, Psychology, Statistics, Management Studies and Financial Studies. Biochemistry is the one department with no usable date: its page prints 2107 where the founding year belongs, and the college has published no correction, so no year is asserted for it here.
Most departments run a named student society and an annual fest of their own, and the exceptions say something too: Instrumentation is run by an elected departmental council rather than a society, the two management departments share Iidaira and name no society at all, and one fest, TRAP, is carried jointly by Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics.
| Department | Student society | Technical fest |
|---|---|---|
| Biochemistry | Vinculum | Elixir |
| Biomedical Science | Chimera | Plexus |
| Chemistry | Alchemy | TRAP, run jointly |
| Computer Science | ENIAC Society | Tech Melange |
| Electronics | Vidyut | Electromania |
| Food Technology | Edesia | Food Felicity |
| Instrumentation | departmental council | Technexus |
| Management Studies and Financial Studies | no departmental society named | Iidaira |
| Mathematics | Ramanarya | TRAP, run jointly |
| Microbiology | Ethereal | Microblaze |
| Physics | Tachyons | TRAP |
| Psychology | Psymentia | Trezire |
| Statistics | Parastika | TRAP |
Laboratory provision follows the subject rather than the size of the intake. Instrumentation runs five laboratories, the analytical one carrying HPLC and GLC, and the college's admission deck adds a PCB fabrication laboratory with a semi-automatic CNC engraver behind the industrial instrumentation bench. Microbiology took the Microbiologists' Society, India's Best Department Award at national level for the 2022-23 session. Psychology, the newest degree and the hardest to get into, works out of two laboratories and two tutorial rooms. Mercurius, a college-wide club for finance, marketing and economics rather than a departmental society, sits alongside the two management departments, in that deck.
Facilities & Infrastructure
Two of the college's own documents size the campus differently: 9.5 acres in the hostel prospectus for 2026-27 and 9 acres in the 2023-24 quality report, which both describe the same two blocks, administrative and academic. Teaching space and equipment are documented in the 2023-24 quality report: 22 classrooms and seminar halls with ICT facilities, 702 computers for academic use, an air-conditioned auditorium seating about 500, and an amphitheatre that takes up to 1,000.
The library is the piece worth checking against your own subject. It occupies three floors of the administrative block across 585.80 square metres, seats 250, and is RFID-enabled down to self-issue and an automated book drop. Its stock runs to more than 20,500 printed books, approximately 135,000 e-books and 11 printed journals, in that same report. Eleven print titles is thin for fourteen science and management departments; the electronic side, taken through UGC-Infonet, the DULIS e-journal service and INFLIBNET's N-LIST, is where the depth sits.
Spending on equipment swings hard from year to year, which matters for laboratory subjects. The college spent Rs 98,80,654 on new laboratory equipment in 2023-24 and Rs 59,85,112 in 2022-23, against nothing at all in 2021-22, and Rs 20,37,420 on the library in 2023-24, in its ranking submission.
Hostel
Beds are the scarcest thing this college has. The hostel takes about 119 residents, in its hostel prospectus, against the 1,761 students the college reported on roll in its 2023-24 quality report. Only outstation candidates may apply, and anyone whose parents live in the NCT or the NCR of Delhi is ineligible, with residence proof filed alongside the form. Seats are apportioned course by course in line with each programme's sanctioned strength, and admission is confirmed only after an interaction that the candidate, her parents and a named local guardian all attend.
| Head (annual, 2026-27) | General | SC/ST | PwD |
|---|---|---|---|
| Caution money, refundable | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 |
| Development fee | 15,000 | 15,000 | Exempted |
| Other amenities | 8,000 | 8,000 | Exempted |
| Maintenance | 8,000 | 8,000 | Exempted |
| Electricity charges | 6,500 | 6,500 | Exempted |
| Room charges | 5,500 | Exempted | Exempted |
| Activities | 2,000 | 2,000 | Exempted |
| Water charges | 1,100 | 1,100 | Exempted |
| Admission fee | 1,000 | 1,000 | Exempted |
| Sanitation charges | 500 | 500 | Exempted |
| Total | 57,600 | 52,100 | Exempted |
Mess charges of Rs 50,000 sit outside that total and every category pays them, and an air-conditioned room costs Rs 14,000 more with electricity metered separately, in the same schedule. Rooms are built for two to four students, every floor has a pantry with a fridge and a microwave, the building has one laundry room with automatic machines, and residents bring their own mattress and bedding. Apply the day your college admission is confirmed, because the window is short: the 2026-27 schedule took applications until 22 July, posted its first list on 23 July, held the interaction on 24 July and wanted the money on 27 July, with a second round closing on 30 July, in the same prospectus. Miss the fee date and the hostel admission is cancelled automatically.
Faculty
The teaching body is smaller than the sanctioned establishment and heavily doctoral. The 2023-24 quality report counts 85 full-time teachers against 130 sanctioned posts, of whom 64 hold a PhD, with 957 years of teaching experience between them in this institution and 83 of them serving as mentors to students.
The unfilled posts are covered by guest faculty, which is why a second official count is larger: the college entered 135 faculty members in its India Rankings 2025 submission. Departmental staff lists in the college's admission deck mark guest appointments explicitly, and in Psychology most of the department carries that mark. Professional development is funded rather than assumed: 34 teachers attended orientation, refresher or short-term courses in 2023-24 and 17 received support to attend conferences, per the quality report.
Notable Alumni
There is no hall of fame here, and what the college does publish is more useful than one would be. The alumni page records former students department by department with their current position, and the destinations named there run heavily to doctoral work and research roles rather than to corporate seniority, which matches what the placement and progression numbers already show.
There is no registered alumni association. The college states as much in its quality report, which describes instead an alumni cell that keeps the records and runs a lecture series where former students return to talk about their fields. The annual meet that cell organises, BLEND, and the address to write to if you want to be listed or to reach it, alumni@rajguru.du.ac.in, are both on the alumni page.
