Shri Ram College of Commerce teaches just two undergraduate degrees, a B.Com (Honours) and a B.A. (Honours) in Economics, and almost nothing else, which is unusual for a college placed 18th on the government's national ranking of colleges. That narrow focus on commerce and economics is deliberate: the college was built for it, it is marking its centenary in 2026, and it is one of the very few Delhi University colleges that also runs its own two-year postgraduate management programme admitting students entirely outside the university's central counselling. So there are really two doors into SRCC, and they work nothing alike. This page walks a school-leaver and a graduate applicant through both, with the seats, placement medians and admission steps tied back to the college's own filings.
Overview
SRCC is a constituent college of the University of Delhi specialising in commerce and economics, and its founding is older than its Delhi University affiliation. Its own history records that seven businessmen led by Sir Shri Ram set up the Commercial Education Trust in Delhi in 1920, opened a Commercial School that year at Charkhewalan in the walled city, and ran the first batch from a hired bungalow at 8, Darya Ganj with twelve students and four faculty. The Commercial College affiliated to the University of Delhi in 1926, introduced the B.A. (Honours) (Commerce Group) and M.A. (Economics) in 1943, and added B.Com. (Honours) in 1949. On its Silver Jubilee in 1951 it renamed itself after its founder as Shri Ram College of Commerce.
Today the college holds an A++ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, awarded in its second assessment cycle in 2023, as its NAAC section documents. It occupies a heritage art-deco building on Delhi University's North Campus, with a clock tower and a colonnaded verandah, and it reaches its centennial in 2026. The rest of this page treats the college the way an applicant meets it, one door at a time.
Courses & Fees
SRCC runs an unusually short course list, and that is the point rather than a gap. The prospectus lists only B.Com (Honours) and B.A. (Honours) Economics at the undergraduate level, and M.Com plus the Post Graduate Diploma in Global Business Operations at the postgraduate level. The Global Business Operations programme, launched in 1999, is described by the college as a course unique to SRCC within the University of Delhi, which is why so much of what follows has to be told twice, once for the university degrees and once for this diploma.
| Programme | Level | Route in |
|---|---|---|
| B.Com (Honours) | Undergraduate | CUET (UG) and DU CSAS |
| B.A. (Honours) Economics | Undergraduate | CUET (UG) and DU CSAS |
| M.Com | Postgraduate | DU postgraduate admission |
| PG Diploma in Global Business Operations | Postgraduate diploma | SRCC's own entrance, GD and interview |
The exact tuition is the one number the college was not publishing cleanly when this page was written, because both its undergraduate course pages and its fee page were marked "under revision", and the university sets the fee per programme and category rather than as a single figure. What the college does record, in its NIRF data submission, is that 532 of its four-year undergraduates receive full tuition-fee reimbursement from state and central government funds and a further 708 from the college's own funds, which is the shape of a heavily subsidised public-college fee rather than a private tariff. For the binding amount, read the Delhi University Bulletin of Information for the year you apply; for the GBO fee, the diploma's own admission notification is the only authoritative source.
Admissions
The two doors diverge completely here. Every undergraduate seat is filled through the national entrance and the university's counselling, and none of it is decided at the college gate: the college's undergraduate admission page states that admission to all its UG programmes rests on the CUET (UG) 2026 score, after which you register on Delhi University's Common Seat Allocation System, rank SRCC and your honours among your CSAS choices, and are allotted a place strictly on merit under the Bulletin of Information rules.
The Global Business Operations diploma runs its own admission instead. To be eligible, its admissions page sets a recognised bachelor's degree with a minimum 50% aggregate; candidates from the OBC, SC, ST and PwD categories get a 5% concession on that mark, and those still awaiting a final-year result may apply. Selection is a multi-stage filter rather than a single mark: a written entrance test of 120 minutes, followed by a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview, as the how-to-apply page sets out. The intake it draws is deliberately mixed: the college's prospectus profiles a recent cohort spanning commerce, engineering, science and arts backgrounds, many joining straight from a bachelor's degree and some arriving with prior work experience.
Cutoff
There is no advance cutoff to clear at SRCC, and a figure quoted as one before the counselling runs is guesswork. For the undergraduate degrees, CSAS fixes a closing CUET score for each programme and category only when a round's seats are allotted, so the number moves round to round with how many places open and how heavily the course is preferred. Because SRCC's commerce and economics honours are among the most sought-after in the university, expect their closing scores to sit near the top of the DU order, and track the official round-wise CSAS results rather than a coaching-site number. The college's own past cut-offs page was marked under revision when this page was written, which is another reason to rely on the live CSAS lists. The GBO diploma publishes no cutoff either, because its entrance test, Group Discussion and interview are scored together into a merit list rather than a single qualifying mark.
Placements
SRCC is one of the few Delhi University colleges that reports placement outcomes to NIRF at all, which makes its numbers worth reading instead of guessing. For its undergraduate cohorts the college's NIRF submission records both a placement median and a large flow into further study.
| UG graduating batch | Graduated in stipulated time | Placed | Median salary | Went to higher studies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2021-22 | 850 | 550 | Rs 780,000 | 300 |
| 2022-23 | 936 | 530 | Rs 800,000 | 402 |
| 2023-24 | 937 | 525 | Rs 845,000 | 403 |
Two things stand out in that table. The undergraduate placement median climbed to Rs 845,000 for the 2023-24 batch, and in the same year 403 graduates left for further study, more than the 525 who were placed, which tells you an SRCC degree is at least as much a route into a master's or an MBA as into a first job. The M.Com stream sits higher still: the same NIRF submission reports a median of Rs 1,153,404 for its 75 placed postgraduates in 2023-24.
The Global Business Operations diploma reports separately and higher again. For a recent batch the college's GBO placement page records 55 recruiting companies, an average package of 10.61 LPA and a highest of 21.32 LPA across 83 offers made. Treat these as the college's own published snapshots and read the current-year report on that page before you plan around a single figure.
Seat Matrix
Seats at SRCC are small and split three ways across its programmes, and the undergraduate total is the one most applicants misjudge.
| Programme | Level | Sanctioned intake |
|---|---|---|
| B.Com (Honours) and B.A. (Honours) Economics | Undergraduate (4-year) | 781 |
| M.Com | Postgraduate (2-year) | 126 |
| PG Diploma in Global Business Operations | PG diploma | 67 |
The 781 undergraduate places cover both honours degrees together, and the college does not print a public course-by-course, category-wise split in its NIRF filing; that breakdown is notified for each cycle through Delhi University's Bulletin of Information and the CSAS portal, which are the authoritative counts to read against your course and category.
The GBO diploma's 67 places already carry their reservation inside the total: its admissions page lists 17 OBC, 9 SC and 5 ST seats within it, with 2 supernumerary PwD places and 3 supernumerary foreign-national places on top.
Rankings
SRCC is placed 18th among all Indian colleges in the NIRF 2025 college ranking with an overall score of 69.01, and its five parameter scores are lopsided in a way that says exactly what kind of college it is.
| NIRF 2025 parameter | SRCC score |
|---|---|
| Graduation Outcomes | 95.91 |
| Outreach and Inclusivity | 78.21 |
| Perception | 72.72 |
| Teaching, Learning and Resources | 68.73 |
| Research and Professional Practice | 16.36 |
The engine of the rank is graduation outcomes at 95.91, near the top of the scale, which fits a college whose students complete on time and move on to strong jobs and postgraduate seats. Research and professional practice, at 16.36, is where it collapses: barely a sixth of the graduation-outcomes figure, and the signature of a college that teaches two honours degrees to undergraduates and produces little formal research rather than a university built around laboratories and doctoral output. A perception score of 72.72 and a teaching-and-resources score of 68.73 sit in between. Read the rank, then, as a strong verdict on outcomes and reputation and a weak one on research, which is the honest reading for a specialist commerce college.
Departments
Because SRCC teaches so few degrees, its academic map is short and easy to read, and it is organised around the two disciplines the college was founded to teach.
| Department | Programmes |
|---|---|
| Commerce | B.Com (Honours); M.Com |
| Economics | B.A. (Honours) Economics; M.A. Economics |
| Global Business Operations | PG Diploma in Global Business Operations |
The Commerce and Economics departments carry the university degrees, while Global Business Operations runs as a self-contained postgraduate diploma with its own faculty, coordinator and admission process. There is no sprawling honours menu here of the kind a general Delhi University college offers, which is the trade-off a commerce-and-economics specialist makes on purpose: depth in two fields instead of breadth across many.
Facilities & Infrastructure
The campus is compact and built around a heritage building rather than a modern block. The college prospectus describes a centrally air-conditioned main block with a clock tower and colonnaded verandah, LCD projectors in the classrooms, a seminar room, an auditorium and a cafeteria, and a large automated library carrying subscription journals and international databases alongside a dedicated centre for visually impaired students.
Sport is better provided than at most city colleges. The same prospectus records the Arun Jaitley Multipurpose Stadium, named for the alumnus and former finance minister, along with two gyms, a physiotherapy centre, a medical unit and a play-field, plus a branch of the State Bank of India and a cooperative store on the premises. These are shared across a student body far smaller than a general college's, which is part of what the college is selling.
Hostel
Residence at SRCC is limited and never automatic, so an out-of-city applicant should plan for it separately from the seat. The college runs Boys' and Girls' hostels on its campus, and its prospectus notes a recently added girls' hostel for outstation students. Hostel placement is contingent on seat availability and is applied for separately through the Hostel counter at the College Office; admission to the college does not guarantee a room, and a limited number of University hostel seats need their own applications. Given how few places there are, the college itself advises applicants to arrange alternative accommodation as a fallback rather than assume a hostel seat.
Faculty
The college's NIRF 2025 submission records 125 faculty members across the institution, but SRCC does not break that figure down by department on its public pages, so the roster each department lists for its own subject tells you more than any single total. The Global Business Operations diploma is the one part of the college that prints its teaching team in full: its prospectus names a core group under Principal Prof. Simrit Kaur and coordinator Dr. Misha Govil, with faculty holding doctorates and management degrees from Delhi University, the IITs, the IIMs and business schools in France, supplemented by industry practitioners who teach the applied papers.
For the B.Com and Economics honours, the teaching sits with the college's Commerce and Economics departments, and the profiles those departments publish for the subject you intend to read are the roster that matters to you. Check the department pages on srcc.edu for the current names.
Notable Alumni
Run down SRCC's alumni list and the same few fields keep recurring: finance, corporate leadership, government and film. The college sets the record down in its own prospectus. Among the names it records are the late Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs; former Supreme Court judge Justice A.K. Sikri; Analjit Singh of Max India; Pramod Bhasin, the founding figure of Genpact; Rajiv Memani of EY; and the banker Rana Kapoor. From the arts it names the filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and the actors Gulshan Grover and Nimrat Kaur.
The through-line is business and finance leadership rather than a single corporate track, which matches a college whose graduates so often move into management, entrepreneurship and further study. Only alumni documented in the college's own record are named here, rather than padding the list with unverified associations.
News & Articles
Expertie does not yet run a dated news feed for SRCC, so anyone tracking the college has three official channels to follow. SRCC publishes its circulars, society notices and admission alerts on its official website. During the admission window the dates that actually move for the two undergraduate degrees, the CUET-UG schedule and each CSAS allotment round, come out on Delhi University's admission portal rather than on the college site. For the Global Business Operations diploma, the entrance and admission notices appear on the GBO site instead, on its own schedule.
College Compare
SRCC only really compares to the handful of other Delhi University colleges filled through CUET and CSAS. A private university running its own entrance, or a college in another city on a different admission calendar, is a different contest and a poor yardstick. Within that DU set, two things separate SRCC. It is a commerce-and-economics specialist rather than a broad honours college, so its depth is concentrated in exactly two fields, and it is one of the very few that also publishes placement medians to NIRF and runs its own postgraduate management diploma.
Because the CUET score, the CSAS rounds and the university-set fee are identical across all of them, none of those three is what actually decides between one DU college and the next. What genuinely separates SRCC for an applicant is narrower: whether commerce or economics is the field you actually want to spend three or four years inside, whether its placement-and-higher-studies record fits your plan better than a liberal-arts college's, and, for a graduate, whether the Global Business Operations diploma is a better route for you than a mainstream MBA. Read each candidate college's full NIRF parameter breakdown before letting one headline rank settle the choice.
