Isf College Of Pharmacy, Moga

Moga, Punjab Official site Updated
NIRF Pharmacy
#25

ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga sits 25th in the government's 2025 pharmacy ranking, and it is the only one of Punjab's six entries in that top 25 that is a college rather than a university or a national institute. Its seats are not filled by a paper the college writes; they go through the state's centralised counselling, where the open Punjab pool for B.Pharmacy closed at merit rank 350 in the second round of 2025-26. The university that awards the degree notifies the fee too, at Rs 44,300 a semester after the first one. What the degree leads to, on the college's own ranking submission, is a first job at a median of Rs 3,45,000 a year.

Overview

The teaching here began around a diploma, and the degree arrived much later. The ISF Educational Society founded the college at Moga under its founder secretary, Sh. Baldev Krishan Garg, on the college's own account of itself, and its programme list starts the B.Pharm in 2000, adds the first master's branch in 2005 and the Pharm.D in 2011. Anyone comparing this college with a pharmacy school that opened at degree level is comparing two different institutional histories.

Two authorities stand behind the qualifications, which matters for what your certificate will say. Every pharmacy degree here is affiliated to I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, while the Diploma in Pharmacy is affiliated to the Punjab State Board of Technical Education, as the college states. Layered over that is autonomous status granted by the University Grants Commission for ten years from 2019 to 2028, which is why the college's masthead calls it an autonomous college.

Autonomy shows up in the machinery rather than in the marketing. The notice board carries the college's own examination forms, re-evaluation notices and master's thesis deadlines, and its faculty list includes a Dean Examination. Those are functions an ordinary affiliated college leaves to its university.

Most of the people on this campus are not from Punjab. The college's 2025 ranking submission records 400 students on the four-year undergraduate roll, of whom 101 are from within the state, 295 from other states and 4 from outside India; the two-year postgraduate roll of 178 splits 35 within the state against 143 from elsewhere. An applicant travelling in from another state is joining the majority on this campus, not the exception.

Courses & Fees

Thirteen degree programmes run under the university's affiliation, and the entry qualification sorts them into three tiers: school leavers take the bachelor's or the six-year Pharm.D, the master's branches and the post-baccalaureate Pharm.D want a B.Pharmacy already in hand, and the PhD wants an M.Pharmacy. The two-year Diploma in Pharmacy sits outside this list, under the state technical board.

Three of the master's branches opened together in 2021, and the age gap matters more than it looks. Industrial Pharmacy, Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacy Practice have put far fewer cohorts into the job market than Pharmacology, running since 2005, so the alumni network behind a 2021 branch is thinner by construction.

The fee is not set by the college alone. I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University notifies a fee structure for the pharmacy programmes at all its affiliated and autonomous colleges, and the 2026-27 notification prices them per semester rather than per year.

Pharmacy programme, 2026-27First semesterEvery later semesterTuition component per semester
B.Pharmacy, 4 yearsRs 47,900Rs 44,300Rs 30,000
B.Pharmacy lateral entry, 3 yearsRs 47,900Rs 44,300Rs 30,000

M.Pharmacy, 2 yearsRs 70,400Rs 66,800Rs 52,500

Read the first semester as the expensive one and plan the arithmetic in years. A B.Pharmacy year after the first comes to Rs 88,600, the first year to Rs 92,200, and a master's second year to Rs 1,33,600, on the same notification. Two charges sit outside those totals and catch people out: a refundable security deposit of Rs 8,000 for every pharmacy course, and hostel, mess and sports charges, which the notification leaves to the college to set.

The college publishes a fee sheet of its own as well, on its courses and fee page, and it is not laid out the same way as the notification. It bills the Pharm.D and the diploma by the year while the notification bills every semester, and it splits the master's into two rates, a dearer one covering Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Analysis and a cheaper one covering Pharmacognosy, Quality Assurance, Pharmacy Practice and Regulatory Affairs. Ask the admission cell in writing which schedule governs your admission year before paying anything, and get the diploma fee from that page too, since the Diploma in Pharmacy is not a university programme and does not appear in the notification at all.

Not everything taught on this campus is pharmacy. The college's departments page carries a technical-courses block offering BBA, B.Com and BCA, and the university's own counselling matrix confirms two of them: the 2026-27 undergraduate seat matrix lists a Bachelor of Computer Applications and a Bachelor of Business Administration against this address. Those are UGC-side qualifications, priced on a different scale from the PCI ones, and none of the pharmacy accreditations described below applies to them.

Admissions

The college does not decide who gets in. I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University runs the centralised online counselling that fills these seats, authorised by an admission notification of the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Government of Punjab dated 5 May 2026, and it allots places in AICTE, PCI and COA approved courses at affiliated colleges on inter-se merit of the qualifying examination. There is no institutional entrance paper for a seat here, and no NEET requirement.

Separate schedules cover the different programmes, which is the detail most applicants get wrong. The same counselling page puts B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D on the first-year undergraduate schedule, M.Pharmacy and Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) on the postgraduate schedule, and B.Pharmacy lateral entry on a schedule of its own for diploma holders joining in the second year. Missing a round because you watched the wrong schedule is the commonest way to lose a seat you would have got.

The Diploma in Pharmacy appears on none of those schedules. That follows from its affiliation to the Punjab State Board of Technical Education rather than to the university, as the college's own course table shows, so a diploma applicant deals with the college and the state board rather than with the university portal.

Alongside the counselling, the college runs its own registration. Its admission page has registration open for the 2026-27 session across the diploma, the bachelor's, lateral entry, both Pharm.D routes and the master's branches, with an admission helpline, an online application link and a named admission cell in-charge and coordinator. Registering there puts you on the college's list; the seat itself still arrives through a counselling round.

GPAT deserves a plain answer, because it is the first thing a master's applicant asks. Neither the college's course table nor the counselling authority makes a GPAT score a condition of admission to the M.Pharm branches here: the course record sets eligibility at a B.Pharmacy degree, and the counselling ranks candidates on inter-se merit of that qualifying examination. Where GPAT does appear on this campus is on the scholarships page, which lists it among the central and state government scholarship categories a student here can claim. Treat it as money rather than as a gate, and confirm the current cycle's rules on the counselling portal before planning around either.

Cutoff

IKGPTU put out seven cut-off sheets across the 2025-26 pharmacy rounds, and this college's name carries a closing rank on eight rows of them. Every other category row against it is blank or reads Null.

Programme and categoryRoundClosing rankSeats listed

M.Pharmacy Pharmaceutics, General, PunjabRound 1474
M.Pharmacy Pharmaceutics, General, other statesRound 1291
M.Pharmacy Pharmacology, General, PunjabRound 1545

Blanks matter as much as figures on these sheets. Most category rows against this college leave the Max Rank column empty or set to Null, which records that no candidate closed that row in that round, and two whole sheets came out that way: neither the lateral-entry round nor the second postgraduate round put a rank against any ISF row. The undergraduate pattern is the striking one: in the first round only the tuition-fee-waiver seats closed, at rank 525, and by the second round that row had fallen to zero seats while the main open Punjab pool of 28 closed at 350.

The six-year Pharm.D behaves the opposite way, and a candidate who waits will miss it. Its nine open Punjab places closed at rank 21 and its two open other-state places at 24 in the first round; by the second the Punjab pool was showing zero seats and a single other-state place remained, closing at rank 5. Watching a round or two to see how the ranks settle is a workable tactic for the bachelor's here and a losing one for the Pharm.D.

Master's ranks run to two digits, because the pool behind them is tiny. Pharmaceutics closed at 47 for Punjab candidates and 29 for candidates from other states, and Pharmacology at 54, in the first postgraduate round. Those were the only two branches of the nine to close at all in that round, which says less about their teaching than about which branch names applicants reach for first.

A rank on these sheets is a counselling merit position for one category in one round, not a national entrance rank, and it moves each cycle with whoever turns up. Use these eight as a scale, not as a threshold to plan a year around.

Placements

Better than four undergraduates in five leave with a job, and the pay has not moved in three years. The college's 2025 ranking submission reports 110 four-year undergraduates finishing in 2023-24, 90 of them placed at a median of Rs 3,45,000 a year and 20 going on to further study, which accounts for the whole cohort.

Programme band, graduating 2023-24GraduatingPlacedMedian salaryHigher studies
Four-year undergraduate (B.Pharm)11090Rs 3,45,00020
Two-year postgraduate (M.Pharm)8875Rs 5,40,00013
Three-year postgraduate (Pharm.D Post Baccalaureate)107Rs 5,40,0003
Six-year postgraduate (Pharm.D)2821Rs 5,40,0007

The undergraduate line is flat where a brochure would want it rising. The same filing shows 90 placed at Rs 3,45,000 from the batch graduating in 2021-22, 92 at Rs 3,40,000 the next year and 90 at Rs 3,45,000 the year after. Three cohorts, effectively one salary. The postgraduate rows moved instead: the two-year median went from Rs 5,35,000 to Rs 5,40,000 across the same window, and the six-year Pharm.D median climbed from Rs 4,65,000 to Rs 5,40,000.

That gap is the number to weigh before choosing a course length. A bachelor's from here pays around Rs 3,45,000 and any of the master's routes around Rs 5,40,000, and only 20 of the 110 undergraduates in 2023-24 went on to further study, per the same submission. Most of the batch takes the lower figure and starts work.

Who the employers are is on the college's own placement pages rather than in the ranking, and those sheets name individuals instead of totalling them. The downloadable rosters for 2021 and 2022 set out each placed student with class, company, post and package, and the employers that come round repeatedly are United Biotech, Macleods, Alkem, Sun Pharma, Indivirtus, Pharmaffiliates, Shilpa Medicare, Corona Remedies and Ziqitza Health Care. Both open with the Pharma Mega Job Fest the college stages in collaboration with the Government of Punjab, the 2020 edition dated 8 August, so the calendar is one big drive rather than a rolling stream of visits. The rosters also stop at 2022, which is worth raising with the placement cell alongside how many recruiters turn up outside the fest.

Seat Matrix

The sanctioned strength is small, stable and unusually weighted to the master's. The 2025 ranking submission files an approved intake of 100 for the four-year undergraduate programme, held at that level since 2020-21, alongside 90 places on the two-year postgraduate programmes.

Programme bandSanctioned intake, 2023-24
Undergraduate, four-year100
Postgraduate, two-year90
Postgraduate, three-year10

How the counselling divides that intake is published category by category, which is worth reading before you file a claim under a reserved head.

Ten smaller reserved heads sit beside those, none of them carrying more than a few seats: border areas, backward areas, sports persons, riot and terrorist affected families, defence personnel, single girl child, freedom fighters, police and paramilitary wards, disaster and serious-illness cases, and persons with disabilities, on the same matrix. A candidate holding one of those certificates is being ranked against a handful of people rather than hundreds, which is the single biggest lever an applicant here can pull.

The master's intake for 2026-27 is split branch by branch, in blocks small enough that the choice of specialisation decides the competition.

Count the branches in that table and one is missing. Industrial Pharmacy, which the college's course list carries as a master's branch introduced in 2021, has no row in the 2026-27 postgraduate matrix at all, although it did appear in the previous cycle's counselling sheet. The college's own admission page meanwhile opens 2026-27 registration for nine master's branches. Where the prospectus and the current seat matrix disagree by a whole specialisation, ask about that specialisation by name before you set it as a preference.

Rankings

Eight cycles of the government's pharmacy table sit behind this college's current position, and the shape of that record is more useful than the rank itself.

The total score in that column has risen in every cycle since the low point of 2020, and the rank has barely moved. That is what a strengthening college inside a strengthening field looks like: improving at the same speed as everyone around you buys a stable number rather than a climb.

Two parameters carry almost all of the improvement. Research and professional practice has nearly doubled since 2021, and graduation outcomes have risen in every cycle since 2020. Those are the two things a college can move by hiring, publishing and getting its students through on time, and this one moved both.

Perception went the other way, and it is the column a prospective student should not skip. It peaked in 2022 and has fallen in each of the three cycles since, down to 33.67 in the 2025 table. Employers and academics are rating this college lower each year while its measured output improves. For an applicant that is a real trade: the results here are better than the reputation, and it is the reputation a recruiter outside Punjab is likely to be working from.

The 2025 total of 61.96 is built from five parameters that sit a long way apart.

NIRF 2025 pharmacy parameterScore

Outreach and inclusivity, at 69.06 in that 2025 table, is the second-strongest of the five, and the intake explains it: the ranking submission counts 120 economically backward and 183 socially challenged students inside the 400-strong undergraduate roll alone.

Departments

Seven pharmacy departments do the teaching, and each is written up around the equipment it owns rather than around its syllabus. The departments page profiles Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacognosy, Quality Assurance and Pharmacy Practice, with the Diploma in Pharmacy described separately.

Pharmaceutics carries the longest list. The same page gives it undergraduate, postgraduate and research laboratories alongside a nano-medicine research laboratory, a GMP-compliant pilot-scale industrial laboratory, a biotechnology laboratory funded by the Department of Biotechnology, and an animal tissue culture laboratory. Pharmacognosy runs HPTLC and lyophiliser instrumentation for herbal standardisation; Pharmaceutical Chemistry, opened in 2006, has organic synthesis and polymer laboratories and added a computer-aided drug design laboratory in 2008.

Pharmacology holds a licence most private pharmacy colleges do not. Its centralised animal house is registered with the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals for work on mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits, and carries a separate approval for breeding and trading in them, per the department profile. A zebrafish eco-toxicology laboratory sits beside it for disease models and toxicity screening.

Pharmacy Practice is the department a Pharm.D applicant should read hardest, and the one with the most regulatory scaffolding behind it. Opened in 2011, it runs the six-year Pharm.D, the post-baccalaureate route and B.Pharm (Practice), and it hosts an institutional ethics committee registered with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization together with an adverse drug reaction monitoring centre approved by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, on its own profile. Clinical postings run through Guru Govind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Fortis Hospital at Ludhiana, and Dr Shyam Lal Thapar Hospital and the Civil Hospital in Moga itself.

One claim on that page is worth checking against the filings rather than taking at face value. The Pharmacy Practice profile states a history of full placement, while the college's 2025 ranking submission records 21 of 28 six-year graduates placed in 2023-24, with 7 going to higher study. Both statements can describe different cohorts; the filing is the one made to a government framework, and it is the one to plan on.

Facilities & Infrastructure

Equipment is where the money goes, by a wide margin. The 2025 ranking submission records Rs 1,41,62,200 spent on new laboratory equipment in 2023-24, Rs 1,52,04,500 the year before and Rs 1,56,78,848 the year before that, against Rs 18,00,398 on the library in 2023-24. Bench capacity, not shelf space, is what this college has been buying.

Twelve specialised laboratories carry names rather than numbers, and the list tells you what the research here is actually about: animal cell culture, microbial cell culture, plant tissue culture, novel drug delivery and nanotechnology, herbal technology, stability analysis, molecular pharmacology, green chemistry, computer-aided drug design and pharmacoinformatics, a clinical research facility, a polymer laboratory and the zebrafish laboratory, on the college's infrastructure page. Beside them sits the ISF Analytical Laboratory, which the college runs as a paid quality-analysis service under NABL and CDSCO accreditation.

The library is named the Dr Radhakrishnan Knowledge Resource Centre and is stocked for a single discipline: the British, Indian, European and United States pharmacopoeias on reference, past master's and doctoral theses kept accessible, international and national journal subscriptions, and a separate reading room for master's and research students, per the same page. It runs on the Libsys library management system and opens 9:30 am to 8:00 pm.

A main auditorium and a mini auditorium, a herbal garden of medicinal plants tagged with their biological names, and lecture rooms the college calls oration centres, named for Charak, Sushruta, Galen, Joseph Remington and A.H. Beckett, complete the academic estate, on the same page. Access for disabled students is answered on a government form rather than asserted in a brochure. The college claims the highest band available on two of three accessibility questions, putting ramps or lifts above 80% of buildings and disabled-access toilets above 80% too, and returns a flat yes on mobility aids and inter-block transport, on the ranking submission.

Hostel

Hostel and mess sit outside the fee the university notifies. It sets the academic charge for every pharmacy programme at its affiliated and autonomous colleges and then states that hostel, mess, sports and similar charges are extra as applicable, in the 2026-27 notification. So the residential bill is set by the college, not by the university, and it is not covered anywhere in the fee you see quoted on a counselling page.

The college does publish its own residential rates, on its courses and fee page, in three grades that all fold mess charges in: a plain non-AC shared room, a deluxe non-AC room and a deluxe room with air conditioning. The same page prices the buses route by route, out to Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Jagraon, Baghapurana, Nihal Singh Wala, Zira, Badhni, Dharamkot and Moga town. Anyone weighing a daily commute against a hostel bed should price both off that page for the admission year, because the university fixes neither.

Separate blocks run for men and women with round-the-clock security, Wi-Fi and an ATM on campus, as the college describes them. Who you will be living with is in the government filing rather than the brochure: 295 of the 400 undergraduates are from outside Punjab and 4 from outside India, per the ranking submission, so the hostel, not the classroom, is where most of this college's social life happens.

Faculty

The teaching roster is junior-weighted. The college entered 67 faculty members in its 2025 ranking submission, and its own faculty list prints each name with a designation, where assistant professors outnumber professors and associate professors put together. For a master's or doctoral applicant that means the supervisor matters more than the headcount: ask which named person takes the branch you want and how many scholars are already registered with them.

The doctoral programme is modest and steady. The roll to 2023-24 held 21 people on full-time registration against 13 who study alongside a job, and the year produced 3 completions from the first group and 4 from the second, in the same submission.

Funded work is where this faculty is unusual for a private affiliated college. During 2023-24 the college drew Rs 1,50,04,288 across 23 sponsored projects backed by 12 funding agencies, and another Rs 1,14,08,230 from 202 pieces of consultancy for 202 separate client organisations, on the same filing. That consultancy count stood at 131 two years earlier. Paid outside work on that scale is rare at this rank, and it is why the analytical laboratory exists.

Patents are filed rather than merely discussed: the college publishes a numbered list of applications with inventors, application numbers and status, the earliest of them from 2008, on its patents page. None of that feeds the ranking's research parameter, which is computed from publication and citation records held outside the institution. Read the research score of 57.71 in the 2025 pharmacy table as a measure of published output, and the consultancy and patent ledgers as a separate strength beside it.

Notable Alumni

We could not find verified notable alumni for Isf College Of Pharmacy, Moga from a reliable source. We name people only when their record is traceable, so this stays empty rather than listing unverified names.

News & Articles

The college's own notice board has gone quiet, and that is the first thing to know before relying on it. The newest entry on its notices page is dated 02 July 2024, a re-evaluation notice, and the entries behind it run back through examination forms, project-report notices and master's thesis deadlines to November 2021. The front of the same site advertises registration for the 2026-27 admission session, so the admission banner and the notice archive are two years apart.

Recognition is documented but dated. The awards page lists four: a best pharmacy college award from Punjab Technical University in June 2015, a best pharmacy education institute award from PTU with CMAI, NIELIT, AIU and AICTE in November 2013, a most innovative pharmacy college award from the Society of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in February 2019, and an Utkrisht Sansthan Vishvakarma award from AICTE in November 2020. Nothing on that page is newer than 2020.

For anything time-sensitive, the counselling schedule rather than the college feed is the document that actually moves. Round dates, corrigenda and the documents-required list for B.Pharmacy, M.Pharmacy and Pharm.D are published and revised on the university's counselling page, which is where a deadline appears first.

College Compare

Punjab puts six institutions in the 2025 pharmacy top 25, and this is the only one of them that is a college rather than a university or a national institute.

Perception separates that group, and it does not track the ranking. NIPER Mohali scores 84.23 and sits ninth; Chitkara scores 28.50 and still sits nine places above this college on 33.67, in the same table. An applicant weighing brand recognition against measured results should compare the parameter columns, not the ranks.

Outcomes are where this college holds its own. Its graduation outcomes score of 76.50 is second among the six only to NIPER Mohali on 87.19, and it clears Lovely Professional University on 54.89 and Chitkara on 57.95 by a wide margin, in the same table. Set against those two the choice is a smaller, less-known campus that finishes and places its students against a larger, better-known one that does so less reliably.

Approvals & Accreditation

Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.

official-report

What this college publishes and what it claims are not quite the same, and the difference is worth reading before quoting either. Its accreditation page carries exactly two documents: a NAAC certificate whose printed validity ran from November 2018 to November 2023, and a NABL certificate for the analytical laboratory that expired in January 2022. Both printed windows have passed.

The claimed position is broader. The college states that it holds NAAC accreditation at grade A, ISO certification and autonomous status granted by the UGC for ten years from 2019 to 2028, in its own profile, and its NAAC section publishes a second-cycle self-study report dated 2024, which is the step that precedes a fresh grade. Ask for the current certificate and its validity dates in writing rather than relying on the grade letter alone.

The approvals that make a seat legally admissible sit on a separate page. The college's approvals and affiliations page links its AICTE approval, its Pharmacy Council of India approval, its IKGPTU affiliation and regional-centre status, its UGC recognition, the autonomous-status order, the CPCSEA animal house approval and the NABL, GLP and CDSCO papers for the analytical laboratory. Of that set the PCI approval is the one that decides whether your degree registers you as a pharmacist, so check that the paper on file names the exact course you are joining.

Scholarships

Two ladders run here and the college keeps them separate. Central and state government schemes are listed for single girl child, physically challenged and sports categories, minority and SC, ST and OBC schemes, merit holders, GPAT qualifiers, JRF and SRF holders, wards of ex-servicemen and the economically weaker category, while institutional scholarships cover single girl child, board and merit holders, university toppers and the economically weaker category, on the scholarships page. A dedicated contact is named there for problems with the Ambedkar scholarship specifically.

What actually reached students is in the ranking filing, and the balance between those two ladders is not what the page order suggests.

Government money dominates at undergraduate level and college money dominates at Pharm.D level, where 59 six-year students drew full tuition reimbursement from institution funds against 10 from government schemes, in the same filing. The line to read hardest is the undergraduate one: 51 students inside that group received no full reimbursement at all, so belonging to the category is not the same as getting the money. Counts of who was paid are published; the qualifying rules behind them are not. Settle where you stand by putting it to the admission cell in writing, and do it before the first fee falls due rather than after.

Student Reviews

Star ratings for this college float around the admission portals, every one of them a self-selected sample, with no audited survey of the Moga student body to set against them. Two numbers that nobody volunteered for do more work.

The first is the perception score of 33.67 in the 2025 pharmacy ranking, gathered by the ranking framework from employers and academics rather than from students, and now in its third consecutive year of decline. The second is where the students come from: 295 of the 400 undergraduates travelled here from outside Punjab, per the ranking submission. Students are leaving their home states in numbers to take these seats, which is a revealed preference no star rating captures.

Where the numbers stop, the branch takes over. Eight master's specialisations fill four or five open Punjab places each, under separate supervisors in separate laboratories, so a Pharmacognosy year and a Pharmacy Practice year at Ghal Kalan share the mess and the library hours and not much else. Put the unquantifiable questions to the head of the specialisation you want, not to the front office.
