Indian Institute Of Management Rohtak
Indian Institute of Management Rohtak runs a two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management that holds rank 19 in the NIRF 2025 management list, at an overall score of 62.60. The batch that finished the PGP in 2023-24 left IIM Rohtak at a median salary of Rs 19,27,000, and every graduate who completed the programme in the stipulated time that year was placed. Admission is through the CAT, settled by a five-stage process that scores academic and gender diversity next to the exam, which is a large part of why recent cohorts have carried more women than men. The fee, the category cutoffs, the placement trend and the sanctioned intake below are each pulled from the institute's own documents and the NIRF tables, linked at the figure they support.
Overview
IIM Rohtak was established in 2009 and was made an institution of national importance under the IIM Act of 2017, the law that lets it award its own degree rather than a diploma, as the institute states. It is the IIM the system placed in Haryana, on a 200-acre campus at Management City on the NH-10 southern bypass in Rohtak, inside the National Capital Region and roughly 90 minutes from Delhi's international airport, per its own profile.
That siting is a real part of the pitch. A candidate gets a fully residential IIM within the NCR, near enough to Delhi's corporate offices and recruiters for interviews, guest sessions and live projects, but without a metro's rent and daily grind. The school is younger than the founding IIMs, so it gives up the long alumni track record those schools rely on in return for a lower fee and a campus built to a single plan rather than accreted over generations.
The other thing that sets IIM Rohtak apart shows up in who actually sits in its classrooms. Its admission rules openly try to correct the maths-and-engineering, mostly-male intake that a pure CAT-percentile sort produces, and the result is a PGP cohort with more women than men, an outcome most Indian business schools do not manage. The sections below take the fee, the cutoff, the placement record and the seat count one at a time.
Courses & Fees
The PGP is the flagship: a two-year, full-time master's degree, entered through CAT, that the fees, cutoffs and placement medians on this page all describe. Around it IIM Rohtak has built an unusually wide programme set for a younger IIM: a five-year Integrated Programme in Management that admits students straight after Class 12, a five-year integrated law programme, a doctoral programme in management, a one-year Post Graduate Programme for working executives, a Master of Management Studies in public policy, and short executive-education courses.
The Integrated Programme in Management is a combined undergraduate-to-postgraduate degree taken through the IPMAT aptitude test. It runs 15 terms across five years and awards a joint BBA and MBA, the institute explains; a student must hold a minimum CGPA of 5.0 at the end of the third year to continue into the last two years, and one who stays above 4.0 but below that line, or who chooses to leave after three years, exits with a BBA instead.
For the PGP, the binding fee is the one on the institute's PGP 2025-27 fee sheet. Each year of the programme carries Rs 8,95,000 in core charges, structured across three terms, Rs 3,55,000 in the first term of the year and Rs 2,70,000 in each of the next two, and the second year repeats the same Rs 8,95,000. On top of that the fee sheet lists a mess charge of Rs 48,000 a year, a placement facility charge of Rs 40,000 a year and a development charge of Rs 10,000 a year, plus a one-time alumni membership of Rs 6,500 and a refundable caution deposit of Rs 10,000 in the first year.
| Fee head | Amount |
|---|---|
| PGP first year (2025-26), three terms | Rs 8,95,000 |
| PGP second year (2026-27), three terms | Rs 8,95,000 |
| Mess charge | Rs 48,000 per year |
| Placement facility charge | Rs 40,000 per year |
| Development charge | Rs 10,000 per year |
| Alumni membership | Rs 6,500 (first year) |
| Caution deposit (refundable) | Rs 10,000 (first year) |
The institute labels this the revised fee for the PGP 16th batch, so treat Rs 8,95,000 a year as the figure for the 2025-27 intake and re-check the sheet for a later batch before you budget.
Admissions
Admission to the PGP is a five-stage process, and a CAT score is only the entry ticket to it, per the institute's admission document. A candidate registers online against the CAT percentile bar for their category, pays a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 3,095, and is then considered for a personal interview; interview calls, a final merit list, a provisional offer and campus reporting follow as the remaining stages.
What decides the final list is a weighted score, not the CAT alone. The admission process gives 60% weight to the CAT percentile, 20% to the personal interview, and 20% split across academic diversity and gender diversity. The institute writes plainly that it does this to offset the skew toward male candidates and engineering graduates that its normal applicant pool would otherwise produce, so a candidate from an under-represented stream or gender carries a real, stated advantage in the last 20%.
Two things are worth holding onto. Clearing the percentile bar in the table below does not by itself earn a personal-interview call, because shortlisting ranks candidates within each category rather than admitting everyone above the line. And since the interview and the two diversity components together make up 40% of that weighted score, a high CAT percentile is the entry condition here, not the deciding one.
Cutoff
IIM Rohtak publishes an explicit minimum CAT percentile to register for the PGP, set separately for each category, and it is a qualifying floor rather than a closing rank. For the general category that floor is a 97 percentile in the CAT, with lower bars for reserved categories and a separate set for candidates with a disability, as the admission document lists.
| Category | Minimum CAT percentile to register |
|---|---|
| General | 97 |
| EWS | 93 |
| NC-OBC | 83 |
| SC | 60 |
| ST | 50 |
| DAP-General | 87 |
| DAP-EWS | 83 |
| DAP-NC-OBC | 73 |
| DAP-SC | 50 |
| DAP-ST | 40 |
For a general-category candidate the 97 percentile is the number to hit just to register, and it bears repeating that this is a floor, not the shortlisting bar. The interview shortlist is drawn from the candidates who clear that floor and are then ranked within their own category, so the score that actually earns a call in a given year runs higher than the published minimum.
Placements
The cleanest primary read on outcomes is the salary IIM Rohtak reports to the NIRF, which records a median for each graduating batch. For the batch that graduated in 2023-24 that median was Rs 19,27,000, and all 227 students who finished the PGP in the stipulated time were placed, per the institute's NIRF submission. The two batches before it followed the same full-placement pattern at a lower median.
| Batch graduating | Completed on time | Placed | NIRF median salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023-24 | 227 | 227 | Rs 19,27,000 |
| 2022-23 | 235 | 235 | Rs 18,73,972 |
| 2021-22 | 249 | 249 | Rs 16,06,000 |
The trend in that submission is the useful part: the median has climbed from Rs 16,06,000 to Rs 19,27,000 across three years while every on-time graduate stayed placed, so what a candidate should weigh is a median that keeps rising, not a one-off top package. IIM Rohtak's detailed placement reports, which carry the recruiter list, the sector split and the highest package, are published year by year on its placements page as separate documents.
Seat Matrix
The PGP has grown quickly. IIM Rohtak reported a sanctioned intake of 411 seats for the two-year programme in 2023-24, up from 264 the year before, in its NIRF submission. Across all years of the programme the enrolled strength stood at 630 students, and the split is the striking figure: 411 women to 219 men, a female majority that is rare for an Indian management school and is the direct result of the diversity weighting in the selection rules above.
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Sanctioned PG intake, 2023-24 | 411 |
| Sanctioned PG intake, 2022-23 | 264 |
| Students enrolled, all years | 630 |
| Women / men | 411 / 219 |
Those seats are divided by category under the central reservation rules IIM Rohtak follows, and the exact category-wise break is issued with each admission cycle rather than fixed here. Because the sanctioned intake jumped from 264 to 411 in a single year, treat 411 as the level a fast-growing programme has recently reached rather than a fixed cap.
Rankings
NIRF 2025 places IIM Rohtak 19th nationally among management schools, scoring it 62.60 overall, per the published table. Nineteenth nationally is a firm placing for a school of its age, even though the founding IIMs still sit well clear of it toward the top of the same list.
| NIRF 2025 parameter | Score out of 100 |
|---|---|
| Overall | 62.60 |
| Teaching, learning and resources | 71.95 |
| Research and professional practice | 42.51 |
| Graduation outcomes | 88.06 |
| Outreach and inclusivity | 75.75 |
| Perception | 30.74 |
The parameter split tells the school's story better than the single rank. Graduation outcomes at 88.06 and outreach and inclusivity at 75.75 are IIM Rohtak's strongest marks, the second one consistent with the gender balance it engineers into every intake. The two soft scores are research and professional practice at 42.51 and perception at 30.74, and the low perception figure is the ordinary signature of a school still building a name recruiters and academics have known for only about a decade and a half.
Departments
IIM Rohtak organises its teaching and research into management academic areas rather than named departments, the standard build at an IIM, with each area owning its courses across the PGP, the integrated programme and doctoral study. Its doctoral programme admits scholars into specific areas of specialisation, which the institute lists on its doctoral programme pages.
Because the areas, not departments, own the electives and supervise research, an applicant who already leans toward a particular management function can look up how deep IIM Rohtak's faculty runs in that area before accepting a seat. The same area-based structure is what lets the institute run its public-policy master's and its executive courses off one shared faculty base.
Facilities & Infrastructure
The campus is a purpose-built residential one across 200 acres at Management City on the NH-10 southern bypass, as the institute describes it. It was laid out in one planned phase rather than accreted over decades, which is why the academic blocks, residences and student facilities all sit inside a single secured perimeter on the highway, with direct road access to Delhi.
The NCR location does the heavy lifting here. A campus about 90 minutes from Delhi's international airport, per the same profile, puts corporate recruiters, guest speakers and live-project hosts within an easy drive, which is the practical advantage the institute trades on against IIMs sited far from a metro. Its executive-education and research activity runs from the same campus, bringing working managers onto it through the year.
Hostel
Living on campus is built into the PGP, not offered next to it: the programme is fully residential, and its residence charges already sit inside the annual fee rather than being billed on the side. The one thing the fee sheet itemises separately each year is the mess charge, at Rs 48,000.
So the true two-year outlay is more than the tuition line: add the mess charge that recurs every year, and count the refundable caution deposit as money parked once and returned on exit. On reporting day the institute allocates twin-sharing air-conditioned rooms on a first-come, first-served basis, separately for male and female students, with ground-floor rooms held for candidates in the DAP category, per the admission document.
Faculty
Teaching at IIM Rohtak is delivered by a faculty organised into the management academic areas, and its NIRF submission records a resident body that is almost entirely doctorate-holding, spanning full, associate and assistant professors alongside visiting faculty who teach specialised courses. The institute is led by Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, listed as its director in the same submission.
Research depth at a business school also shows in its doctoral strength, and the same NIRF submission records 24 full-time doctoral scholars in the management programme. For an applicant judging academic quality, the combination of a largely doctorate-holding teaching faculty and that resident research base is what actually produces the teaching and graduation-outcome scores IIM Rohtak posts in the NIRF parameters.
Notable Alumni
IIM Rohtak does not maintain a public list of well-known alumni. That is largely a function of how recent the school is: it has been sending out PGP classes only since the 2010s, so most of its former students are still building mid-career records rather than holding the senior posts that get written up. This page will not paper over that with names that cannot be checked against a public record.
The more useful signal is the working network. IIM Rohtak's graduates come back to campus each year on the recruiting side of the placement process, and its alumni chapters are where a candidate can get a candid, first-hand account of where the degree actually took people.
News & Articles
IIM Rohtak posts every admission and placement notification to iimrohtak.ac.in, and for a date or a result that is the only channel worth trusting. A candidate following the school should return there for two things in particular: the CAT-linked registration window that opens each admission cycle, and the standalone placement report the institute issues once a batch has closed, each on its own timeline.
College Compare
The useful comparison for IIM Rohtak is against its own generation of IIMs and against the NCR alternatives, not the founding schools at the top of the list. Among the newer IIMs its NIRF 2025 rank of 19 and its rising placement median put it in a solid position, and its distinguishing card is the NCR location plus the gender balance it builds into every cohort.
Against a metro school the comparison comes down to what the NIRF breakdown already shows: strong graduation outcomes, a perception score still catching up, and fees below what the senior IIMs command, weighed against their established name and central-city address. A candidate holding calls from more than one school should read those specifics off each page rather than deciding on reputation alone.
Contact & Location
The campus and the PGP admissions office share an address at Management City, NH-10 Southern Bypass, Sunaria, Rohtak, Haryana. PGP admission queries go to the Office of the Controller of Examinations, per the admission document.
