Ramjas College opened in 1917, five years before the University of Delhi it now belongs to, and that seniority is the first thing worth knowing about it. It is a constituent college on the university's North Campus, one of the small group the university absorbed at its creation, and it places 28th on the government's NIRF 2025 college list. Neither fact changes the two questions most applicants actually arrive with, and both answers are narrower than the listing sites make them sound: a seat here is won on a CUET-UG score routed through Delhi University's central allocation, and the fee is a per-programme amount the university fixes rather than a package the college quotes. Nothing here is borrowed from an aggregator: each figure traces back to a Ramjas notice, the college's own admission and library pages, or the Ministry of Education's NIRF result.
Overview
Ramjas was founded in 1917 by the educationist and philanthropist Rai Kedar Nath and began, in its own words, "from the humble precincts of Darya Ganj in Old Delhi" before moving to its present North Campus site, as the college's about page records. Its age is the identity that sets it apart from most of the colleges around it in the NIRF table: alongside St. Stephen's and Hindu, it is one of the colleges the University of Delhi inherited at its creation rather than one built later to fill out the system, a lineage the college's own history and its "one of the oldest colleges of Delhi" self-description both carry. Today it is a co-educational, government-funded constituent college holding a NAAC grade of A, and its NIRF 2025 standing at rank 28 is the number most searches land on. That combination, a genuinely old college sitting in the middle of the national table, is the tension the rest of this page works through.
Courses & Fees
Ramjas teaches a full spread of undergraduate honours and programme degrees across the sciences, the arts and commerce, with a matching set of two-year postgraduate courses. The science side is the deepest, and one of its programme routes, B.Sc. (Prog.) Life Sciences, is the kind of broad-base science degree not every North Campus college still runs. The table lists the undergraduate courses exactly as the college's own UG courses page sets them out.
| Undergraduate programme | Stream | Entrance |
|---|---|---|
| B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Botany, Zoology | Science | CUET-UG |
| B.Sc. (Prog.) Life Sciences | Science | CUET-UG |
| B.A. (Hons.) Economics, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Music | Arts | CUET-UG |
| B.A. Programme | Arts | CUET-UG |
| B.Com (Hons.) and B.Com Programme | Commerce | CUET-UG |
The honours degrees now run on Delhi University's four-year undergraduate scheme with its exit options, so plan around four years rather than the older three. Postgraduate teaching runs wider here than at many DU colleges. The college's PG courses page lists master of arts degrees in Bengali, English, Hindi, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Economics, History, Political Science, Music and Operational Research; master of science degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research; and a master of commerce.
On fees, there is no single lump sum to quote, because Delhi University sets the amount separately for each programme and category and Ramjas publishes its own course-wise table for the session on its fee structure page. That course-wise table is the binding amount for your exact course and category, and it is the document to read rather than a consolidated figure from a listing site, which does not correspond to anything the college itself prints.
Admissions
Admission to every undergraduate seat is decided outside the college gate, on a CUET-UG score processed through Delhi University's Common Seat Allocation System; Ramjas conducts no test or interview of its own and steps in only to verify documents and collect the fee once CSAS allots you a place. One caution specific to Ramjas is that its own admission-procedure page still describes the retired pre-CUET method, the old "Best Four" percentage and college-declared cut-off marks, so read that page for its structure and not as the current route. The same page carries the reservation split the college fills to the university's quotas: 22.5% of seats for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe applicants together, made up of 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC non-creamy-layer candidates, and 10% for the Economically Weaker Sections.
Two smaller routes sit beside the merit pool. Ramjas keeps two supernumerary intakes that its admissions menu carries as separate pages, Admissions under Sports Category and Admissions under ECA Category, where a place turns on trials and certificate points rather than a CUET-UG mark. The master's programmes fill on a different track entirely, Delhi University's PG admission through CUET-PG, which keeps its own calendar and never touches the CSAS rounds that settle the undergraduate seats.
Cutoff
There is nothing to clear here in advance, and treating any pre-published Ramjas cutoff as fixed is the error to sidestep. What people call a Ramjas cutoff is really a trailing figure: the lowest CUET-UG score still holding a place in one course and one category at the moment CSAS declares that round closed. It is recorded after the admissions happen, never announced before them, and it drifts each cycle with the applicant pool. The college's own admissions cut-off page makes the point by accident, because the last percentage-based list it archives is from 2021-2022, before the CUET switch, and nothing since has replaced it as a target. The one honest way to read your odds is on Delhi University's CSAS dashboard, taking the round-by-round closing figure for your exact subject and category and treating last year's mark as a rough guide rather than a promise.
Placements
Ramjas runs a student-and-faculty placement cell, branded Pinnacle, that organises the recruitment drives and lists past recruiters including Deloitte, DE Shaw, Crowe, Grant Thornton, Reliance Securities, L and T, HCL Tech and WTW. Ramjas publishes no audited placement report, no average and no top package, so a salary number pinned to its name on a listing site rests on nothing you can check. That absence bites harder here than at a professional-course college, because a large share of Ramjas graduates move into postgraduate study or the civil-services and other competitive examinations rather than straight into a job with a printed CTC.
The one outcome figure carrying a government stamp is tucked inside the ranking. Ramjas earns 62.54 for Graduation Outcomes in the NIRF 2025 college ranking, a parameter built from completion and onward-progression rates, so it records how dependably students finish and move on, not what any of them is paid. That is the outcome number worth weighing, precisely because Ramjas stands behind no salary figure of its own.
Seat Matrix
Ramjas does not fix its own intake. Delhi University sets and revises the per-course, category-wise number of seats each cycle and publishes it in the CSAS seat matrix, and the college mirrors it on its intake capacity page as a session document rather than a single headline figure. A stable, college-wide seat total is not something the college prints as one number, so the figure that binds your application is the current-cycle intake for your one programme on Delhi University's admission portal.
Rankings
Ramjas's case in the national tables rests almost entirely on the NIRF college list, where it holds rank 28 with an overall score of 63.82 in the NIRF 2025 college ranking. The five parameters behind that total do not move together, and reading them tells you more than the rank alone.
| NIRF 2025 parameter | Ramjas College score |
|---|---|
| Research and Professional Practice | 75.74 |
| Outreach and Inclusivity | 71.53 |
| Teaching, Learning and Resources | 68.22 |
| Graduation Outcomes | 62.54 |
| Perception | 23.92 |
The stand-out is research and professional practice at 75.74, high for a college whose work is mostly undergraduate teaching, with outreach, teaching resources and graduation outcomes clustered in the sixties and seventies. What drags the total down is perception at 23.92, by far the lowest of the five and the widest gap in Ramjas's own row, which fits an academically solid college that is less of a household name than the DU colleges at the top of the list. Ramjas appears in one NIRF list only, the College ranking; as a unit of the University of Delhi rather than a degree-awarding institution in its own right, it is not eligible for the separate university table or the subject-wise rankings.
Departments
Your years at Ramjas are spent inside a single department, so the department roster is the practical map of the place. Six departments sit on the science side, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics and Statistics; the arts-and-commerce side adds Commerce and Economics, the humanities and language departments of English, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy and Political Science, and standalone departments for Music and for Physical Education, all set out on the college's departments pages. The Department of Political Science also puts out a peer-reviewed undergraduate journal, the Ramjas Political Review, which few college departments anywhere attempt and which marks where the college's academic energy runs.
Facilities & Infrastructure
The library is the piece of infrastructure Ramjas puts first, and it has a genuine claim to make: it was the first institution in the University of Delhi to automate its library, back in 2000, and its library page records a collection of more than 1,33,585 books, subscriptions to 18 newspapers, and access through the N-LIST database to over 6000 e-journals and 199500 e-books. It is fully air-conditioned and Wi-Fi enabled, runs plagiarism-checking software for student work, and keeps a copy of the Constitution of India on open display.
Beyond the library, the North Campus site carries an auditorium, a conference hall, an amphitheatre, science and computing laboratories, sports grounds and a fitness centre, alongside a School of Foreign and Indian Languages and a Centre for International Education that the college highlights among its facilities. It sits within the North Campus cluster, so the shared Delhi University amenities and the Vishwavidyalaya metro line are close at hand.
Hostel
Residence at Ramjas is limited and comes with two conditions worth knowing before you count on it. Its hostel is open only to admitted students who ordinarily live outside Delhi, and places are offered strictly on a merit-cum-interview basis under the college and university hostel rules, so a room is never attached to your CUET seat. The hostel runs a cooperative mess managed by residents themselves and keeps its own traditions, including an inter-hostel cricket tournament named the Lala Ramjas Mal Cricket Tournament. The important current caveat is the college's own: the hostel is under renovation and will not be available for the current academic session, so any out-of-Delhi applicant should plan on private accommodation for now and confirm the position with the hostel office before assuming a place.
Faculty
Ramjas keeps its teaching entirely inside its departments, and it publishes staff profiles department by department across the sciences, arts and commerce, describing its teachers as scholars trained at leading universities in India and abroad. No college-wide headcount of faculty is posted on any single page, so the dependable way to judge the strength behind a course is to read its own department's profile list rather than a total lifted onto an aggregator. Since a place chosen partly for its rank is still taught one subject at a time, that department-level look matters more here than any summary number.
Notable Alumni
Ramjas's alumni reach across sport, the judiciary, politics, cinema and public life. Among the names its documented record ties to the college are Sumit Antil, the Paralympic gold-medal javelin thrower; Y. K. Sabharwal, a former Chief Justice of India; Chaudhary Brahm Prakash, the first Chief Minister of Delhi; the filmmaker Prakash Jha; the actor Shekhar Suman; and the lawyer and former Delhi minister Somnath Bharti. Only names the public record actually ties to Ramjas appear above; where a claimed connection cannot be sourced, it is left off rather than counted in to make the list look longer.
News & Articles
Ramjas does not maintain a news wire of its own, so the rolling notices, circulars and annual college magazine on its site are where admission, examination and event updates actually surface. Two things stand out from the recent record: NAAC awarded the college a grade A in May 2024, its first time through the accreditation cycle, and the NIRF 2025 college list placed it at 28.
College Compare
The comparison applicants ask about most is Ramjas against Hans Raj, its larger North Campus neighbour. On the NIRF 2025 college list the answer is one-sided by that measure: Hans Raj sits at rank 3 while Ramjas is at 28, so the framework places Hans Raj well above. Read narrowly, though, Ramjas's own neighbours on that list are Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College at 27 just above it and Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College at 29 just below, each within about a point of Ramjas on the overall score. The honest way to use any of this is course by course: the rank ranks whole colleges, but your three or four years sit inside a single department, so weigh the specific course's teaching and its CUET closing trend rather than the college's position alone.

Verified
Approvals & Accreditation
Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.
Ramjas is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council at grade A, awarded in its first assessment cycle in 2024, a result the college marked with a public notice on its own site. NAAC accreditation is the quality assurance most relevant to a Delhi University constituent college, since the professional-body approvals that matter for engineering or management do not apply to a general degree college of this kind. Where a specific accreditation does not exist for a course, this page does not imply one.
Aid
Scholarships
Ramjas students draw mainly on Delhi University and central-government support rather than a large in-house scheme: the college points to its own awards and scholarships page for the medals and prizes it institutes, and the university and the National Scholarship Portal carry the need-based and merit awards most students actually claim. A distinct, college-funded scholarship running as a standing scheme is not something Ramjas publishes, so the official awards page and the university's financial-aid office are the reliable places to confirm what you qualify for, rather than a figure quoted second-hand.

Expertie does not publish a star rating or a set of testimonials for Ramjas College. Ratings that cannot be traced to a verified reviewer are easy to invent and hard to trust, so rather than reprint aggregator scores we point you to the objective, sourced signals on this page, the NIRF parameters and the college's own published record, and to a campus visit or a current student for the lived detail that no rating captures.
