Ramanbhai Patel College of Pharmacy sits on the CHARUSAT campus at Changa in Anand district, Gujarat, and three quarters of its B.Pharm seats never reach state counselling. The Admission Committee for Professional Courses lists 100 seats for the college and hands 75 of them to management, leaving 25 to be filled from the GUJCET merit list. The college ranked 98th in the 2025 NIRF pharmacy table, and the ranking data it files shows most of its B.Pharm graduates going on to further study rather than straight into jobs.
Overview
The college is a constituent institute of Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT), not a college affiliated to an outside university, and that settles who awards the degree. Its home page describes it as a constituent institute established in 2004, and the Standard Inspection Form it filed with the Pharmacy Council of India names the Registrar of Charotar University of Science and Technology as the examining authority for B.Pharm and every M.Pharm course, with the course-conducting body recorded as a private university. A B.Pharm or M.Pharm earned here is a CHARUSAT degree.
RPCP predates CHARUSAT by five years. Shri Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar Kelavani Mandal, the trust behind the campus, set up the pharmacy college in 2004, and the group of institutes at the Changa education campus was given university status on July 7, 2009. The name is that of the late Ramanbhai Patel: the college states it has the patronage of Zydus Cadila, with Pankaj Patel, its chairman and managing director, supporting the college in memory of his father, while its M.Pharm teaching runs under the T. P. Patel Centre for PG studies in Pharmacy, patronised by the families of Jagdishbhai Patel and H. T. Patel.

Courses & Fees
Two taught programmes run here, a four-year B.Pharm and a two-year M.Pharm split into five specialisations, with a Ph.D. above them. The fees are private-university fees and are shown on the college site with a caveat attached to each one.
| Programme | Duration | Intake | Published fee per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.Pharm | 4 years | 100 | Rs 1,80,000 |
| M.Pharm Pharmaceutical Technology | 2 years | 15 | Rs 2,20,000 |

Every fee on that page carries an asterisk saying approval is subject to the Appellate Committee, and the state admission committee repeats the qualification. Its 2026-27 seat matrix prints the B.Pharm tuition as 180000 subject to approval by the Appellate Committee, and among the degree colleges on that sheet that print a figure at all, only Nirma University's Institute of Pharmacy shows a higher one, at 280000. For the M.Pharm the committee's institute list goes further and gives no amount, stating against each of the five specialisations that the fee will be declared by the Appellate Committee soon. Treat the college's master's figure as its own expectation rather than a settled number.
A sixth specialisation shows up in some filings and not others. The Standard Inspection Form lists M.Pharm Pharmacy Practice among the courses with an affiliation fee paid for 2025-2026 and a CHARUSAT examining authority, and the university's admission portal names it too, yet the form's sanctioned intake table, the college's programmes page and the state committee's list carry only five. Ask the office whether Pharmacy Practice is admitting before you plan around it.
CHARUSAT's admission portal groups the doctorate under a single PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with five named degrees, clinical pharmacy and phytochemistry among them. The college's data return for the 2026 ranking cycle counts 9 full-time and 24 part-time doctoral students, with 2 full-time and 8 part-time graduating in 2024-25.
Admissions
B.Pharm admission here runs through two doors, and the split is lopsided. The state committee's seat matrix for 2026-27 shows a provisional intake of 100, with 75 management seats under the GUJCET column and 25 government seats. The state's general rule for unaided colleges is different: the committee's advertisement for this year's pharmacy admissions describes 50% of the sanctioned intake of unaided institutions being filled by the committee, with merit built from 50% weightage of the board theory percentile and 50% of the GUJCET percentile.
The 25 government seats are the ones a GUJCET candidate reaches by registering with the committee and filling choices online. The 75 management seats are filled by the college, which advertises them on its own management quota admission page and takes the application forms itself. Seats left over after the online rounds also come back to the college: the committee's notice of 31.08.2026 moves vacant seats at self-financed pharmacy colleges to merit lists and counselling at institute level.
M.Pharm follows the same two-door pattern at a smaller scale. Each specialisation carries a provisional intake of 16 including the EWS addition, of which 11 are listed as management or NRI seats. For those management seats the committee's rules let unaided institutes admit on a valid GPAT score or PGCET marks, giving first priority to GPAT qualified candidates, with an admission form fee of no more than Rs. 1000, and without ACPC registration. GPAT is not a precondition for the state-quota M.Pharm seats either: the second-round closure sheet shows a general-category candidate marked as not GPAT-qualified taking a seat in each of the five specialisations here.
Cutoff
On the government seats, the B.Pharm at Changa closed in the low thousands on the GUJCET merit list after three rounds. The committee's institute-wise sheet records the first and last merit number admitted in each category.
| Category | First admitted | Last admitted |
|---|---|---|
| General | 425 | 1862 |
| EWS | 1913 | 2041 |
| SEBC | 2793 | 3657 |
| SC | 6472 | 6472 |
| Tuition fee waiver (TFWS) | 724 | 724 |
The sheet has no Scheduled Tribe row for the college, although the seat matrix sets aside 4 ST seats, so there is no ST closing number to plan from.
Those closing numbers cover a quarter of the class. No committee sheet ranks the 75 management seats, and the college's management quota page carries an advertisement rather than a merit list, so a candidate outside 1862 on the general list is competing for a seat whose cutoff is not public.
For the M.Pharm, the committee's closure sheets print its own merit numbers with a GPAT flag rather than a GPAT score. In the second round, the general category in Pharmacology opened at 3011042 and closed at 3011265, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry ran from 3011809 to 3011933, both among candidates without GPAT. Those numbers only compare with others on the same sheet.
Placements
Most B.Pharm graduates here go on to a master's degree or other further study, and only a handful take a placement. The college's data return for the 2026 ranking cycle, filed under the university's name, gives three graduating years.
| Graduating year | Programme | Graduated in minimum time | Placed | Median salary | Higher studies |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022-23 | B.Pharm | 97 | 16 | Rs 1,85,000 | 54 |
| 2023-24 | B.Pharm | 103 | 7 | Rs 1,74,000 | 70 |
| 2024-25 | B.Pharm | 92 | 7 | Rs 2,40,000 | 68 |
| 2022-23 | M.Pharm | 56 | 43 | Rs 2,40,000 | 6 |
| 2023-24 | M.Pharm | 45 | 39 | Rs 2,40,000 | 0 |
| 2024-25 | M.Pharm | 62 | 54 | Rs 2,80,000 | 5 |
The master's is where the jobs are. In 2024-25, 54 of the 62 M.Pharm graduates were placed at a median of Rs 2,80,000, against 7 of 92 on the B.Pharm. A B.Pharm student counting on campus recruitment should read the undergraduate rows before the home page, which advertises a 97% Placement Rate without saying which students or which year it counts.
Two copies of the 2025 return disagree about the 2023-24 B.Pharm class. The copy NIRF hosts shows 5 placed, a median of 180000 and 68 going to higher studies, while the copy on the college site shows 7 placed, 174000 and 70, the same figures the 2026 return repeats for that class.
The inspection form gives a placement-drive count with no graduating year attached. Its placement officer, Dr Mehul Patel, reports 52 students participating, 52 placed and 28 companies taking part in the placement drive, and the form's collaboration table credits Zydus Lifesciences with the placement of 5 students. The training and placement page names Cadila Healthcare, Torrent Research Center, Intas, Alembic, Sanofi India at Ankleshwar, Sun Pharmaceutical and Veeda Clinical Research among companies used for training, projects and placement, with Muljibhai Patel's kidney hospital at Nadiad and Apollo Hospital, Ahmedabad on the hospital list.
Seat Matrix
The committee's matrix lists 25 government B.Pharm seats, but its category columns add up to 27, the ACPC intake its later allotment and reporting sheets use; the 5 tuition fee waiver seats sit in a separate column.
| Seat type | Seats |
|---|---|
| Provisional intake | 100 |
| Management seats, GUJCET | 75 |
| Management seats, NEET, JEE or NRI | 0 |
| Government seats, GUJCET | 25 |
| Tuition fee waiver (TFW) | 5 |
| EWS | 2 |
| SC | 2 |
| ST | 4 |
| SEBC | 6 |
| DS | 1 |
| Open | 11 |
| Open, persons with disability | 1 |
After the third round, the committee's allotment sheet showed 27 seats allotted out of an ACPC intake of 27, and all 5 TFWS seats allotted. Allotment is not the same as joining. The committee's reporting sheet as on 29 August recorded 27 intake, 22 reported and 5 vacant for the college, and those empty seats went to the institute-level round.
On the M.Pharm side, the committee's vacancy list after the second round shows 2 seats in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, 1 in Pharmaceutical Technology and 2 in Pharmacology still unfilled at the college; Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs do not appear on that list.
Rankings
The college has been ranked individually in the NIRF pharmacy table and has slipped in the most recent edition. It ranked 90th in 2024 and fell to 98th in 2025, even though its total score rose slightly.
| Parameter | NIRF 2024 | NIRF 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Rank | 90 | 98 |
| Total score | 40.90 | 41.56 |
| Teaching, learning and resources | 63.41 | 59.16 |
| Research and professional practice | 19.59 | 24.23 |
| Graduation outcomes | 51.15 | 54.68 |
| Outreach and inclusivity | 51.37 | 50.94 |
| Perception | 6.33 | 5.12 |
Perception is the weak parameter. At 5.12 in 2025 it was the lowest of any Gujarat pharmacy institution in the top 100, below Parul University's 7.47, and it had been 6.33 in 2024. Research rose the most, but at 24.23 it remains well short of the teaching score.
The college's own brochure gets the year wrong. Its front-page badge says the college secured the 98th rank in NIRF 2024, while the 2024 table puts it at 90 and 98 is the 2025 position.
The next edition may not list the college under its own name. Its data for the 2026 cycle was submitted as Charotar University of Science and Technology, under the university code IR-P-U-0128, rather than under the college code IR-P-C-16179 used for the 2025 ranking. Anyone looking for the college in the next pharmacy table should search for CHARUSAT too.
Departments
The college organises its research around four departments, each described on its research page. Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology works on novel drug delivery, including nanoparticles, liposomes and solid lipid nanoparticles, and on targeting drugs to the brain and lungs. Pharmacology tests drugs in disease models for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, CNS disorders and cancer, and extends into pharmacoepidemiology and adverse drug reaction studies. Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Analysis combines drug design and synthesis with stability-indicating HPLC and HPTLC method work and impurity profiling. Pharmacognosy isolates plant compounds and screens them, including for male infertility.
The same page lists four institutional thrust areas: cancer, CNS disorders, metabolic disorders and infectious diseases. The inspection form names a department against each laboratory: both Regulatory Affairs labs belong to Pharmaceutics, and Quality Assurance splits its two labs between Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
Facilities & Infrastructure
The college has its own three-floor building on the shared university campus. The inspection form records 45 Acres of land for the multi-institution campus, a built-up area of 9265 square metres, 10 classrooms and 24 laboratories, along with a machine room, a museum, a 301 square metre auditorium and a herbal garden of 1613 square metres.
The same form, which sets the Council's required area beside what the college has, shows a few shortfalls in its own figures. The animal house, which the form marks as required for the PG programme, is 64 square metres against 80 required, the boys' and girls' common rooms are 40 square metres each against 60, and several laboratories are listed at under the 75 square metres required, including one M.Pharm Pharmacology lab at 33 square metres.
The library measures 193 square metres and seats 50, with 26 national and 365 international journals and 15 computers in the computer lab. For B.Pharm it holds 4777 volumes against 3700 required, but 2345 titles against 2700 required, so it has more copies than the norm but fewer distinct books.
The research record on the college site is larger than any single year's filing suggests. The research page claims 633+ journal publications, 83+ books or book chapters and 18 patents up to 2025, puts research projects and funding at 69 and Rs 1,49,64,857, and gives a Scopus H-index of 34+. A consultancy and testing cell offers analytical method validation, formulation development, cell-based assays and stability studies, and its brochure says it has served more than 20 organizations and completed consultancy projects worth 30 lacs. The 2026 ranking return records a sharp rise in that work, with 18 consultancy projects for 17 clients bringing in Rs 11013619 in 2024-25, against 492240 the year before.
Hostel
Hostels are a university facility shared across the Changa campus rather than something the college runs. The state committee's profile marks Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, Mess and Transportation all as available for the college.
The boys' side is not on campus. CHARUSAT says its boys' hostels are outsourced at 9 different locations within a radius of 1 km, with a housing capacity for about 1500 boys and both AC and non-AC rooms, dining halls, reading rooms, Wi-Fi and transport to campus. The girls' hostel details on that page appear only as an image, and the page gives no hostel fees in text. The university also runs daily bus services from Ahmedabad, Nadiad, Anand and Vadodara through contracted transport providers, which matters for day scholars.
Faculty
The 2026 ranking return names 37 teachers, 36 of them still in post. Assistant professors make up most of the current 36, at 23, with 8 associate professors and 5 professors above them; every teacher but four has a doctorate, the four holding an M.Pharm. The one departure recorded is an assistant professor who left in December 2024.
Several teachers have been here since the college's early years. The principal, Dr. Manan Raval, joined on 10-05-2007, and Dr. Samir Patel, now professor and in-charge dean, joined on 04-08-2008. Joining dates cluster in 2021, when 11 of the current teachers are recorded as joining.
The two most recent returns do not always agree on those dates. The 2026 return shows Hardik Koria and Alkesh Patel joining on 14-07-2021, while the 2025 return gave both of them 01-09-2018. The 2026 return also lists Manishkumar Nandpal as an assistant professor, while the inspection form and the staff page list him as a laboratory technician.
The staff page gives each teacher's research area and links most profiles to the national Vidwan expert database. Examples include peptide synthesis and impurity profiling for Dr. Samir Patel, natural products and male fertility for Dr. Manan Raval, clinical research and pharmacovigilance for Dr. Jalpa Suthar, and tissue engineering for Dr. Swati Sharma.
Notable Alumni
The college does not name any distinguished graduates. Its brochure lists an extensive alumni network as a reason to enrol, and its home page counts 28 Entrepreneurs among its figures, but neither names a single person. Graduates are pointed to the university's alumni portal.
News & Articles
Admissions dominated the college's announcements in the 2026 cycle. Its management quota page carried a notice inviting applications for B.Pharm and all five M.Pharm specialisations, issued in the name of a CHARUSAT constituent institute, with forms collected and submitted in mid-August. After the state's third B.Pharm round, the committee's notice of 31.08.2026 moved the unfilled seats at self-financed pharmacy colleges, including this one, to institute-level merit lists.
The internal quality cell has published two practices it calls its best. A summer fellowship put 12 undergraduate students through a 15-day research fellowship using the college's instruments, and an Innovative Idea Box event drew 126 students presenting 27 prototypes and 15 ideas to expert panels.
College Compare
The closest comparisons for a GUJCET candidate are other private-university pharmacy colleges that charge similar fees. Parul University's School of Pharmacy in Vadodara has the same 25 government seats out of 100, and Nirma University's Institute of Pharmacy in Ahmedabad sits above RPCP on both fees and rank.
| Point of comparison | Ramanbhai Patel College of Pharmacy, Changa | School of Pharmacy, Parul University, Vadodara | Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, Ahmedabad |
|---|---|---|---|
| Government seats of 100 | 25 | 25 | 85 |
| Tuition on the 2026-27 matrix | 180000 | 175000 | 280000 |
| General category, last admitted after Round 3 | 1862 | 13459 | 1137 |
| Government seats reported after Round 3 | 22 of 27 | 11 of 28 | 72 of 88 |
| NIRF 2025 pharmacy rank | 98 | 41, ranked as Parul University | 32, ranked as Nirma University |
The GUJCET figures favour RPCP over the Parul school: its general category closed at 1862 against 13459, and 22 of its 27 government seats were reported against 11 of 28. Nirma closes earlier, offers far more state seats and ranks higher, but its matrix tuition is 280000 against 180000 here. The rank comparison needs care, because both Parul and Nirma are ranked as whole universities, while RPCP's 2025 rank belongs to the college alone.
Contact & Location
Changa is a village off the Nadiad-Petlad highway rather than part of Anand town. The university puts it 12 kms from Nadiad station, 22 kms from Anand and 65 kms from both Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

Approvals & Accreditation
Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.
The NAAC A+ grade shown in the college's advertising belongs to the university, and the college has no separate programme accreditation of its own. Its inspection form gives the grade as A+ from 12-07-2022 to 12-07-2027, the grade CHARUSAT displays with its second-cycle NAAC certificate, and it reports no NBA accreditation for any course and no other accreditation.
For a B.Pharm graduate from Changa who wants to register as a pharmacist, the approval that matters is the Pharmacy Council's. The state committee's 2026-27 matrix marks PCI approval for the college's B.Pharm as Yes, and the inspection form dates the course from 2004-2005, with the M.Pharm specialisations following between 2009-2010 and 2022-2023, each listed for extension of approval.
Aid
Scholarships
The university's merit scholarship is narrow at entry. Its current scheme offers 100 % of tuition fee to the top three meritorious B.Pharm students with an ACPC merit rank up to 2000, renewable in later years for those who stay in the top three with a CGPA of 8.5 or more and no backlogs. M.Pharm students get a wider scheme: full tuition for the top five GPAT-qualified entrants, Rs. 58,000 off the fee for those with a B.Pharm CGPA above 7, and an extra Rs. 12,000 in the first and second years for CHARUSAT alumni.
Several donor scholarships name this college specifically. The scholarship page lists the Late Shankarbhai Chhaganbhai Patel award for the B.Pharm student ranked first in each of the second, third and fourth years, and a Kanubhai and Kamlakshi Patel award open to meritorious, economically constrained RPCP students from the Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar samaj. Amounts are set by the donors, and the page also points to Gujarat government schemes such as MYSY.
Take-up shows in the ranking return. On the B.Pharm, the state or Centre paid the whole fee for 20 students, CHARUSAT's own funds for 12 and private donors for 3, while 80 had no full reimbursement from anyone; the B.Pharm roll counts 43 economically backward and 72 SC, ST or OBC students.
