Glocal University

Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh Est. 2012 Official site Updated
NIRF Pharmacy
#100

Glocal University Saharanpur is a state private university at Mirzapur Pole, in the Behat tehsil of Saharanpur district, and the only subject in which it holds a numbered NIRF rank is pharmacy. In the 2025 pharmacy table it is printed at 100, but so is a second university with the identical score, so Glocal shares the last numbered pharmacy place rather than holding it alone.

The pharmacy teaching comes from one unit, Glocal University Pharmacy College, which the Pharmacy Council of India files as PCI-700. Its fees, seats, placement returns and approvals are its own, and they do not describe the nursing, paramedical, Ayurveda or Unani colleges that share the Saharanpur campus.

Overview

Glocal University was created by a Uttar Pradesh law. The state's Extraordinary Gazette of July 2012 printed The Glocal University Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam, 2011 as UP Act No. 2 of 2012, after the Governor's assent in March 2012, to set up a teaching university at Ali Akbarpur, tehsil Behat, sponsored by the Abdul Waheed Educational and Charitable Trust of Saharanpur, according to the copy of the Act the university posts. Its recognitions page describes it as a privately funded state university established through Act 02 of 2012.

The address on the Pharmacy Council's decision letters from 2019 onward is Mirzapur Pole, Ali Akbarpur, Tahsil Behat, Saharanpur, pin 247121, with the course-conducting body written as the Glocal University Pharmacy College on Delhi Yamunotri Marg. The university's contact page adds that Delhi-Yamunotri Marg here is State Highway 57, and puts the campus 90 mins by road from Dehradun railway station and 6 hrs from Delhi.

The trust named in the Act still stands behind the university. Its UGC public self-disclosure lists the Abdul Waheed Educational and Charitable Trust as sponsoring body, at New Bhagat Singh Colony on Bajoria Road, and names Shri Mohammad Iqbal as Chancellor. The Annual Report 2024-25 calls him the founder and describes the university as non-profit.

The two official documents disagree on who runs the university day to day. The self-disclosure names Prof. (Dr.) Manju Gupta as Vice Chancellor, while the annual report opens with a message signed by Prof. (Dr.) Hriday Shankar Singh under the same title. Prof. Shivani Tiwari is Registrar in both.

Pharmacy, Nursing and Paramedical Are Three Different Records

Glocal University Pharmacy College started B.Pharm and D.Pharm in the 2014-2015 session, according to the Standard Inspection Format it filed with the PCI, and the School of Pharmacy page dates the first programme to August 2014. The annual report lists a School of Pharmaceutical Sciences as a separate unit, but the 2026-27 fee sheet prints the two names under one heading, the PCI letters are addressed to the pharmacy college, and NIRF files the pharmacy return under the university's own name.

AISHE lists Glocal College of Nursing and Research Centre and Glocal College of Paramedical Science and Research Centre as constituent colleges of Glocal University, each under its own AISHE code. None of their students, seats or fees are counted in the pharmacy figures below.

Courses & Fees

The pharmacy college teaches five programmes plus a doctorate: D.Pharm, B.Pharm, lateral entry B.Pharm, the two year B.Pharm (Practice) for working pharmacists, and M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacology. The pharmacy menu on the Department of Pharmaceutics page also names a Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, a subject with no M.Pharm branch.

The Fee Structure 2026-27, linked from the university's Courses & Fees page, gives one tuition figure per year for each pharmacy programme, and its D.Pharm and B.Pharm figures match the fee grids printed on those two programme pages.

Pharmacy programmeDurationTuition per year, as printed
D.Pharm2 yearsRs. 75,000
B.Pharm4 yearsRs. 1,00000

For lateral entry B.Pharm, B.Pharm (Practice) and the three M.Pharm branches, the 2026-27 sheet is the only current price list. It prices lateral entry and Practice below B.Pharm and puts M.Pharm, one shared figure for all three branches, above B.Pharm as the costliest pharmacy course. Read those rows on the sheet itself.

That sheet prints tuition only. The programme pages add a National Student Exam Fee of 2500 Indian Rupees per semester, charged every semester on top of the Rs. 4,00000 total tuition the B.Pharm page shows for the four years.

Programme Pages to Read With Care

The fee grids on the programme pages cannot all be taken at face value. The D.Pharm page charges Rs. 75,000 for each of two years and then prints a total tuition fee of Rs. 1,40,000, less than its own two instalments add up to.

The M.Pharm (Pharmacology) page is further out of date. It shows 75,000 a year in tuition with a one-time 15,000 academic service fee in year one, less than the B.Pharm page charges, and fills in rows for years three and four of a two year degree. The M.Pharm (Pharmaceutics) page repeats the same grid. Since the 2026-27 sheet prices M.Pharm above B.Pharm, get the M.Pharm amount confirmed in writing before paying.

The doctorate is priced on the general Ph.D. page that the pharmacy menu links to, at 2000 INR for application and registration, 63000 INR tuition per semester and a 10,000 INR thesis submission fee. Its complete package cell reads "3,90,0000 INR", a figure with a misplaced digit that should be clarified before relying on it.

Admissions

Glocal fills its pharmacy seats itself, from applications made straight to the Saharanpur campus. The pharmacy pages, the brochure and the admission material name no Uttar Pradesh counselling round and no entrance test for D.Pharm, B.Pharm or M.Pharm; the only university test named in the Annual Report 2024-25 is GUCET, the Glocal University Common Entrance Test, used for Ph.D. admissions.

The Information Brochure 2026 splits applying into three boxes. The application box says to register on the university website. The admission box says to report to the campus or a regional admission office with all original documents, have them verified for eligibility, and pay the semester fee online or offline. The seat booking box in between is about third-party and bank verification requests, not about reserving a place. The online form behind the Apply Now page only takes a course choice and contact details, after which the admission team calls back.

Eligibility Printed for Each Pharmacy Course

The brochure's pharmacy page sets out who can apply.

ProgrammeEligibility in the 2026 brochure
D.Pharm10+2 with science, with a minimum percentage of marks printed in the brochure
B.Pharm10+2 in science with PCB or PCM, or a PCI-approved equivalent
B.Pharm (Lateral Entry)A D.Pharm approved by the PCI under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act
B.Pharm (Practice)D.Pharm, registration as a pharmacist, and four years of community or hospital pharmacy practice with an employer NOC
M.PharmB.Pharm from a PCI-approved institution, with a minimum aggregate across its four years printed in the brochure
Ph.D.As per UGC norms

B.Pharm accepts both biology and mathematics streams, and unlike D.Pharm and M.Pharm it has no minimum percentage printed against it. For M.Pharm the brochure does not mention GPAT at all.

Who decides is set by statute. Statute 32 of the Revised and Consolidated Statutes 2025 gives an Admission Committee chaired by the Vice-Chancellor the power to fix admission criteria, review applications, and in some cases interview shortlisted candidates before accepting, rejecting or waitlisting them.

Refunds Before You Pay

The university's two refund documents do not agree. The website's refund rules return tuition, less a processing fee of Rs. 2,000, only if the student withdraws before admission closes for that programme and the seat is refilled from a waitlist. After the closure of admission no tuition is refunded, applications must be made on paper, not by email, and refunds are paid by account payee cheque in 8-10 weeks.

The Information Brochure 2026 prints a different table on its How to Apply page. It refunds a share of fees that shrinks in steps the later the notice of withdrawal arrives against the notified last date of admission, down to nothing, and it sets no waitlist condition and no processing fee. Ask which of the two the admission office will apply, and get the answer in writing with the fee receipt.

Cutoff

Glocal University publishes no cutoff, merit list or closing rank for any pharmacy course, and because its pharmacy seats are not filled through a ranked state counselling list there are no counselling ranks to report either. The entry bar that exists is the eligibility table in the Admissions section.

What the filings do show is that B.Pharm seats have been full. The college's NIRF 2026 pharmacy data records 100 admitted against 100 sanctioned in each of 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22, and M.Pharm filled its 39 places in 2023-24.

Placements

The only pharmacy-specific placement numbers are the ones Glocal filed with NIRF, and they change sharply in the latest year. Two returns cover the B.Pharm classes graduating from 2021-22 to 2024-25: the NIRF 2025 data on the framework's site and the NIRF 2026 pharmacy submission the university hosts.

B.Pharm graduating yearGraduated in minimum timePlacedMedian salaryHigher studies
2021-22625Rs 1,80,0006
2022-23995Rs 4,50,00014
2023-24989Rs 2,41,00029
2024-259768Rs 5,10,00029

For three years the B.Pharm figure never went above nine placed graduates, from classes of 62, 99 and 98, and a median based on five people is not a salary anyone should plan around. Then the 2024-25 return reports 68 of 97 placed at a Rs 5,10,000 median. Nothing in either return explains the jump, so an applicant is right to ask the Training and Placement Cell for the employer list behind that row.

M.Pharm graduating yearGraduated in minimum timePlacedMedian salaryHigher studies
2022-231211Rs 6,75,0001
2023-242420Rs 6,12,0004
2024-253930Rs 6,18,0009

Each M.Pharm class that finished on time from 2022-23 onward placed most of its graduates, at medians above any B.Pharm year. The first M.Pharm intake, the 12 admitted in 2020-21, shows no graduate in minimum time in the 2025 file. No D.Pharm or B.Pharm (Practice) outcome appears in either return.

University-Wide Figures Are Not Pharmacy Figures

The annual report's placement table puts B.Tech and B.Pharm in one row: about 240 placed from the 2023-24 four year UG batch, a median of 5.20 LPA and a 64.63% rate, per the Annual Report 2024-25. The pharmacy college's own return for the 2023-24 graduating year counts 9 B.Pharm graduates placed, so if both documents count the same class, almost all of that row is B.Tech.

The headline packages are university-wide too. The opening message of the Annual Report 2024-25 cites 600+ students placed and a highest package of 18 LPA, and the brochure's placement page advertises larger international and domestic packages. None of these is tied to a programme, and the NIRF pharmacy returns have no highest-salary field at all.

The pharmaceutical employer the report names is Ranbaxy (Sun Pharma Group). The student placements page lists B.Pharm students at Laborate Pharmaceuticals, SSMT Pharmaceuticals and a Davaindia generic pharmacy, without years or salaries.

Seat Matrix

The Pharmacy Council's most recent decision letter on the university's site, for the 2023-24 session, approves first-year places on six separate lines.

CoursePCI approved intake, 2023-24
B.Pharm100
D.Pharm60
B.Pharm (Practice)40
M.Pharm, Pharmaceutical Chemistry15
M.Pharm, Pharmaceutics12
M.Pharm, Pharmacology12

Those numbers were built up in steps. B.Pharm, approved from 2014-2015, was allowed a raise in admissions from 60 to 100 from the 2019-2020 session, in the council's letter of 10th June 2019. M.Pharm opened in 2020-2021 with 3 Pharmaceutics and 9 Pharmacology seats under the April 2020 letter, rose to 12 in each branch by July 2021, and B.Pharm (Practice) was first approved for 40 in the council's 381/EC decision of 11.11.2022.

The recognitions page posts no PCI letter for 2024-25 or later, although the NIRF 2026 submission still reports a PG sanctioned intake of 39, matching the three M.Pharm branches. The university publishes no category-wise break-up of these seats, and the approvals do not mention a management quota.

Rankings

NIRF 2025 printed Glocal University at rank 100 in Pharmacy with a score of 41.48, and printed Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University, Gurgaon, at the same rank with the same score, in the 2025 Pharmacy table. Equal totals put the two in the same slot, with neither ranked above the other. The two-way tie also absorbs the position after it: the band NIRF published beneath the numbered 2025 list is headed 102-125, so nobody is ranked one place below the pair.

NIRF 2025 Pharmacy parameterGlocal UniversitySGT University, Gurgaon

Research and Professional Practice23.5119.57
Graduation Outcomes49.8252.81
Outreach and Inclusivity54.3550.79
Perception0.000.00

Saharanpur and Gurgaon reach the same total by different routes. Glocal leads on research and outreach, SGT on teaching resources and graduation outcomes, and both score zero on perception, the survey of academics and employers. With perception at zero, all of Glocal's 41.48 comes from the other four parameters, and its graduation outcomes mark of 49.82 was scored on a 2025 return whose B.Pharm rows showed 5, 5 and 9 placed.

The 2025 rank lifted Glocal out of a band. It sat in the unnumbered Pharmacy band of 101-125 in 2024, and in the University category it is in the band of 151-200 for both 2024 and 2025, per the rankings table in the Annual Report 2024-25 and the framework's own 2024 Pharmacy band list. The same report's opening message says the university was "ranked 165th in the University category (NIRF 2024)", but NIRF publishes no individual position inside a band, and the report's own rankings table shows only the band.

As of September 2026, NIRF had not published a 2026 Pharmacy table.

Facilities & Infrastructure

The pharmacy college's own footprint is modest inside a large campus. Its PCI inspection filing records 2.0 acres of land for the college, a built-up area of 4760 square metres with 2760 of them instructional, and lists a central instrumentation room of 80 square metres, an animal house of 80, a museum of 50 and a herbal garden, with access to a 300-seat auditorium. The university itself advertises a 350-acre campus on its Why Glocal page.

The same filing shows 12 laboratories for B.Pharm and D.Pharm across pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy and pharmacy practice. Spending on them has risen: new laboratory equipment cost Rs 3,73,212 in 2021-22, according to the NIRF 2025 data, and Rs 50,39,264 in 2024-25, according to the NIRF 2026 submission. Library spending went from Rs 22,993 to Rs 40,12,856 over the same span.

Two university pages describe the campus hospital differently. The medical facilities page calls it a 300 bed multi specialty hospital, while the paramedical college page calls it the 350 bedded Glocal Super Specialty Hospital. The campus is remote enough that the transport page runs weekend buses to Dehradun, Saharanpur and Paonta Sahib alongside day-scholar routes into Saharanpur.

Faculty

The pharmacy college reported 46 teachers to NIRF for 2026, two of whom had already left, leaving 44 in post: 8 professors, 8 associate professors and 28 assistant professors, per the NIRF 2026 pharmacy submission. Sixteen of the 44 hold a Ph.D.; the rest list an M.Pharm. The NIRF 2025 data had entered 38.

Leadership is harder to pin down. The pharmacy college's head in its 2021-22 PCI filing was Satish Kumar Sharma, and the university's Department of Pharmaceutics page still lists Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma with the deanpharmacy email address. The NIRF 2026 faculty list records him as no longer working with the institution from 21-04-2025, and the School of Pharmacy page carries a dean's message without a name. The Pharmaceutics page's overview paragraph, meanwhile, describes the university's business school.

Two pharmacy teachers stand out in the university's research record. The Annual Report 2024-25 says Dr. Abdul Hafeez, whom it calls Professor of Pharmacy though the NIRF 2026 list records him as an associate professor on the staff since 2015, was named in Stanford's Top 2% Scientists list, and it lists textbooks by Prof. (Dr.) Varsha Deva. Full-time Ph.D. scholars in pharmacy numbered 31 in the 2026 return, and 26 graduated in 2024-25; sponsored research went from nothing in 2022-23 and 2023-24 to 10 projects worth Rs 1,24,50,000 in 2024-25.

Approvals & Accreditation

Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.

Every pharmacy course here runs on Pharmacy Council of India approval, granted one session at a time. The recognitions page carries council correspondence from a January 2015 letter ratifying its December 2014 Central Council decision, through decision letters from 2019, up to the 2023-24 session. The decision letters note that validity of the course details may be verified at www.pci.nic.in, and that is where to check the current session before admission.

The university holds two UGC recognitions. The first is degree-awarding status under section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956, which the recognitions page backs with a UGC letter of May 2014 saying the university may award degrees at its main campus in regular mode and has no UGC approval for any off-campus or study centre. In June 2018 UGC added it to the section 12B list after an inspection in November 2017, on the condition that assistance under UGC schemes is limited to schemes for teachers and students, according to the 12B letter.

Glocal holds no NAAC grade on its own record. Its UGC public self-disclosure answers the NAAC, NBA and NIRF status line with NIRF alone, and the Annual Report 2024-25 lists a NAAC A grade among its targets for 2026-28. The university's NAAC page is a list of criteria and document headings rather than a certificate, and in the PCI inspection format the pharmacy college ticks No for both NBA and NAAC accreditation. The recognitions page also lists AIU membership, NCTE recognition for education, Bar Council approval for integrated law courses, and AICTE's position that a university created by a state Act does not need its approval.

Scholarships

The only pharmacy-specific count of students whose tuition is waived sits in the NIRF returns, not in the scholarship list. In the NIRF 2026 pharmacy submission, Glocal counted 400 on its B.Pharm roll, and of the students it classed as economically or socially backward, state and central government schemes covered the full tuition of 82, the college's own funds covered 63, and 48 received no full reimbursement.

That mix moved in one year. The NIRF 2025 return showed the institution paying for 92 and government for 41, so government reimbursement has roughly doubled while the college's own contribution fell. On the M.Pharm roll of 78 in the 2026 submission, 30 were reimbursed by government and 9 by the institution.

The university's own schemes are listed in the Annual Report 2024-25.

SchemeBenefitWho qualifies
Sukanya Scholarship Scheme100% fee waiverGirl students from economically weaker families, with a merit criterion
Economically Weaker Section30% tuition fee waiverAnnual family income not above INR 2.5 lakhs
Physically Challenged30% tuition fee waiverMinimum 40% certified disability
Defence and Security Personnel30% tuition fee waiverWards and widows of Armed Forces and CRPF personnel
Alumni Scholarship50% tuition fee waiverGlocal School or Glocal University alumni
Staff Relation50% tuition fee waiverFamily of full-time staff with at least one year of service
Freeship100% fee waiverExtreme financial need, orphans under guardianship or legally adopted students

Merit and sports scholarships appear in the same table without a fixed percentage, and SC, ST, OBC and minority students apply through the UP State Scholarship Portal. The refund rules warn that any university scholarship is adjusted against the security money if a student leaves midstream.

Student Reviews

No independently checked Glocal pharmacy student account is available for this page yet. What the university shows instead is curated: homepage testimonials, and a brochure testimonial page where every quoted graduate is from an MBA, BBA or B.Tech course, none from pharmacy. The one outside measure, the NIRF 2025 perception score, is 0.00 for Glocal's pharmacy entry in the 2025 table, so the peer and employer survey behind that parameter registered nothing for it.
