Nandha College Of Pharmacy (inst. Code - 051), Erode

Erode, Tamil Nadu Est. 1992 Official site Updated
NIRF Pharmacy
#77

Most pages about this Erode campus recycle a course list. The more useful record is the one the state is writing this month: the Directorate of Medical Education has 65 government-quota B.Pharm places here open for its second counselling round, and it has already allotted 19 Pharm.D seats with every candidate's marks printed beside their name. Those lists, the state's admission prospectus and the college's ranking submissions between them answer the seat, fee and outcome questions that the college's own brochure leaves blank.

Overview

Nandha College of Pharmacy opened in 1992 at Koorapalayam Pirivu on the Erode to Perundurai road, is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India and takes its degrees from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Chennai, as its about page states. It is a private un-aided institution in a rural setting, and it teaches nothing outside pharmacy.

One practical warning before any applicant opens a government PDF. This single campus appears under three different names across the official registers. The ranking framework and the accreditation board both call it Nandha College of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Council's approved-institutions register, under file number PCI-1419, carries the same Koorapalayam Pirivu, Pitchandampalayam Post address under the name Nandha College Of Paramedical Sciences, and the council is not even consistent with itself, since its separate Pharm.D approval list carries the same file number under the name Nandha College of Pharmacy, in that list. The state selection committee's counselling documents call it Nandha College of Pharmacy and Research Institute, as its 2026-2027 vacancy tables do. Search an allotment list for the wrong one of those three and the seat looks like it does not exist.

The trust behind it, Sri Nandha Educational Trust, runs a dozen other colleges nearby, including an engineering college, an arts and science college, a nursing college and a physiotherapy college, listed on the pharmacy college's own group page. They admit separately and none of the figures below belong to them. The trust has also filed a proposal seeking Deemed to be University status, with the pharmacy college's approvals and land papers among the annexures, published on the same site.

Courses & Fees

Six qualifications run here, and the college has never published what any of them cost.

Where each row comes from: the council's degree register, its diploma register and its Pharm.D approval list; the college's 2026 ranking submission, its prospectus and its doctoral page.

The five master's branches are Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, named on the M.Pharm page. Pharmacognosy and Pharmacy Practice, which several Tamil Nadu pharmacy colleges run, are not offered.

On price the college itself is silent. Its website carries no fee page, and its prospectus prints eligibility rules and a column of claimed minimum starting salaries by course without one rupee of tuition, hostel or transport cost. The state fills that gap for the seats it controls. Government-quota tuition at a Tamil Nadu self-financing pharmacy college is set by the Fee Fixation Committee, and the 2026-2027 admission prospectus puts B.Pharm at Rs 50,000 a year, a single figure covering tuition, admission, laboratory, library, sports and amenities charges but not hostel, transport or mess, in its fee section. The Pharm.D prospectus sets its government-quota tuition at Rs 2,00,000 plus other fees, in its own. What nobody publishes is the management-quota price at this college, which has to be asked for by phone.

Admissions

Admission runs on the state's calendar, not the college's. Its admission page says B.Pharm and Pharm.D intake starts after the plus-two results in May and M.Pharm after the B.Pharm results in September, gives 04294 226405 and 221405 for the admission section on working days between 9am and 4pm, and states that all three follow the directions of the affiliating medical university.

For the bachelor's the college sets its own floor above the bare minimum. A candidate outside the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories needs individual pass marks of at least 35% in physics, chemistry and biology, or botany and zoology, or mathematics, in theory and in practical, and an aggregate of not less than 50% in those subjects; Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates need the same 35% subject marks with a 40% aggregate, and every category needs a pass in English at 35%, per the B.Pharm page. The alternative entry is a Diploma in Pharmacy from a board the university recognises, which shortens the degree to six semesters.

The six-year Pharm.D asks for a plus-two with physics and chemistry compulsory plus either mathematics or biology, or a PCI-approved D.Pharm, and the final year is a full year of residency in a teaching hospital's departments, on the Pharm.D page. The master's page asks only for a B.Pharm from this university or one it treats as equivalent, on the M.Pharm page, and names no test at all. The state adds one. Master's candidates across Tamil Nadu sit an offline entrance paper the selection committee sets and marks itself, held on 23 August 2026 at a single Chennai venue, as its instruction sheet records, and scored out of 90, in the published marks list; the rank list that decides allotment is built from those marks. Bachelor's and Pharm.D applicants sit no paper of any kind. Both are ranked on their plus-two science marks, normalised across boards and reduced to a weighted total out of 200, set out in the B.Pharm prospectus. Government-quota seats in all three courses are then allotted by the selection committee, whose 2026-2027 rank lists, vacancy tables and allotment orders are posted course by course on its notifications page.

Cutoff

For the Pharm.D there is now a hard, current number. The selection committee's allotment order of 10 September 2026 places 19 candidates at this college, each row carrying a community, a general rank and a total mark out of 200, in the published list. The highest allotted mark was 185.5 at general rank 373 and the lowest was 168 at general rank 2551.

CommunityLowest mark allotted here, Pharm.D 2026-2027

BCM174
MBC and DNC172.5
SCA171.5
SC168

Nothing equivalent exists yet for the bachelor's, and the reason is timing rather than secrecy. The undergraduate allotment published on 3 September 2026 covered government seats in government colleges, and names no candidate at this campus, in that list. Round 2 is the one that allots government-quota seats in self-financing colleges, and its result is dated 17 September 2026 with allotment orders downloadable from 18 to 21 September, on the published schedule. Until those orders appear, this college has no B.Pharm closing mark in existence. The master's is a round behind again: the committee has published an entrance rank list and a vacancy table but no allotment, so no B.Pharm or M.Pharm cutoff for this college can be quoted honestly today.

Placements

The college's ranking filing and its prospectus disagree about placement, and the filing is the one signed off to the government. Against a prospectus line claiming 100% placement, in the printed prospectus, the 2026 submission reports 81 of 100 bachelor's finishers placed.

Programme, graduating 2024-25GraduatingPlacedMedian salaryHigher studies
B.Pharm (four-year)10081Rs 3,28,00019
M.Pharm (two-year)3432Rs 3,68,0000
Pharm.D (six-year)2624Rs 4,98,0002

Eighty-one placements plus 19 admissions to further study account for all 100 of that cohort, and the two cohorts before it close the same way: 85 placed and 13 in higher study out of 98, then 79 and 15 out of 94, in the same submission. Nobody is reported as unaccounted for in any of the three years, which is worth knowing when you read the placement percentage. What has not moved is the money. The bachelor's median runs Rs 3,25,000 for the batch finishing in 2022-23, Rs 3,27,000 the next year and Rs 3,28,000 in 2024-25, in that filing. Three cohorts, and the typical offer has gone up by less than one per cent in total.

Who does the hiring is answerable, because the college publishes a scanned register for the 2020-2024 batch, signed and stamped by the principal, setting each named student against the firm that took them and marking every offer on campus or off, as a scanned list. It runs shorter than the placed count in the ranking filing for that batch, so read it as a sample of who hires here rather than as the full tally. Employers on it include Johnson and Johnson, Novo Nordisk India, Apotex, Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals, Fourrts Laboratories, AGS Health, Micro Therapeutics Research Labs, Skan Research Lab, MiraMed Ajuba Solution, Senses Pharmaceutical, Sai Mitra Innopharma and a hospital pharmacist post at Apollo Hospital in Chennai. The same file's higher-studies list for the year names where that group went: NIPER, Amirtha Viswa School of Pharmacy, Vels University, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Ramaiah University of Applied Science, JSS College of Pharmacy and, for two students, Coventry University and Griffith College abroad, with several rows still marked as applied for counselling.

That register is worth more than the recruiter panel printed in the prospectus, which still leads with Ranbaxy Laboratories and other names from an earlier era of the Indian generics industry. Treat the scanned lists as the current picture and the prospectus panel as history.

Seat Matrix

Sanctioned strength and the share the state actually allots are two different numbers, and both are published.

ProgrammeSanctioned intakeGovernment-quota places listed for 2026-2027

M.Pharm6342 across five branches
Sources: the college's 2026 ranking submission, the PCI diploma register, and the selection committee's B.Pharm, Pharm.D and M.Pharm vacancy tables.

The 65 B.Pharm places break down as 20 for OC, 17 BC, 2 BCM, 13 MBC and DNC, 10 SC, 2 SCA and 1 ST, in that vacancy table, which is exactly 65% of the sanctioned 100. The Pharm.D block of 19 was offered on 7 September and filled in the allotment three days later, so that course is effectively closed on the government quota for this session.

The master's is where a late applicant has room. The committee's branch-wise table of 7 September 2026 lists 10 government-quota places in Pharmaceutics, 10 in Pharmacology, 8 in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, 8 in Pharmaceutical Analysis and 6 in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, across its speciality pages. The college's own filings show why: against 63 sanctioned seats it admitted 51 in 2021-22, 54 in 2022-23 and 34 in 2023-24, in the 2026 submission. The bachelor's, by contrast, filled all 100 of its first-year places in 2021-22 after taking 98 and then 91 in the two years before, and drew a further 6 lateral-entry students from the diploma route in 2022-23.

The D.Pharm is the one loose thread. It sits on the council's diploma register under file number 1419 for 60 admissions, yet it appears in no ranking filing the college has published, and the state's diploma allotment of 10 September 2026 names no candidate here, in that order. Part of that is round timing again, because the diploma vacancy table of 5 September lists only the three government colleges, in that table. What it does not explain is the silence in the college's own filings, so a diploma applicant should ring the admission office rather than assume the course is running.

Rankings

Rank 77 in the 2025 pharmacy table is exactly where this college stood in 2023, with a climb and a fall in between.

India Rankings pharmacy editionRankScoreTeaching and resourcesResearch and practiceGraduation outcomesOutreachPerception

20257744.2063.639.7664.8651.7440.39

Two columns move hard and in opposite directions. Research and professional practice, computed from publication and citation records held outside the institution, has risen every single year, from 2.47 to 9.76. Perception ran the other way. That column is a reputation survey, and it dropped in each of the three editions after 2022, ending at 40.39 against a starting 82.31. The 2022 placing rested on a reputation score in the eighties that the college no longer commands, while the thing an M.Pharm or doctoral applicant is actually buying has quietly improved. Teaching and graduation outcomes barely move at all across the four rows.

The college's own about page lists ranks of 32, 76, 50 and 77 for 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023 and stops there, as written, so it does not show the 2024 recovery or the 2025 slip. That 2019 claim cannot be tested against the framework's own table for that year, which stops at rank 75. A 2026 pharmacy table does not exist yet, though the college's submission for it already sits on its own site.

Facilities & Infrastructure

The library is the best documented part of the campus and the numbers are modest but specific: 9,789 volumes across 4,231 titles, 46 print journal subscriptions split 26 Indian and 20 international, 389 e-journal subscriptions, 128 book CDs, seven computer terminals and seating for more than 100 in 1,680 square feet, on the library page. Borrowing is capped at two books, raised to three for final-year students preparing for the national postgraduate entrance test. The same page's opening paragraph quotes a larger holding than its own itemised table does, so take the itemised figures.

Laboratory provision is described rather than counted: drug delivery design and development, computer-aided drug design, herbal formulation, pharmaceutical characterisation, analytical and bioanalytical work on UV, infrared and HPLC instruments, and an animal house approved by the national committee that regulates animal experiments, on the about page. Spending backs some of that up. Capital outlay in 2024-25 was Rs 44,08,700 on new laboratory equipment and Rs 5,38,760 on the library, against Rs 4,82,54,760 on salaries, in the 2026 submission.

Access for physically challenged students is answered in three lines of the ranking form: lifts or ramps in more than 80% of the block, purpose-built toilets in more than 80%, and a yes on walking aids, wheelchairs and being carried between blocks, in the same submission. Its printed prospectus adds separate hostels for men and women, a canteen, an air-conditioned seminar hall, an Indian Bank branch with an ATM inside the campus and college transport across a radius of 70 km, in that document.

Faculty

Counted off the roster in the 2026 ranking submission, 49 teachers are entered by name, qualification, designation and joining date. Fifteen hold a doctorate, 29 a master's in pharmacy and five a Pharm.D. Twelve of them are professors and nine associate professors, 27 are assistant professors and the forty-ninth entry is the dean and principal row; 45 of the 49 were recorded as still in post, in that filing.

Experience is long in the middle of the roster. Median recorded service among those still working there is 141 months, close to twelve years, and the longest-serving teacher on the list, R. Duraisami, joined in April 1998, on the same roster.

Two details in that roster answer questions the college's own pages leave open. The person entered in the dean and principal row, T. Sivakumar, is recorded as having left on 8 September 2025, and three other teachers left during the same year. The contact page now names Dr. S. Sengottuvelu as principal, and the roster shows him as a professor with a doctorate who joined in April 2000. All five Pharm.D-qualified staff are assistant professors, and all five joined inside a single twelve-month stretch running from July 2024 to June 2025, which is the clearest sign in the filing of where the college is currently hiring.

Approvals & Accreditation

Statutory approvals and accreditation grades from official bodies.

The B.Pharm is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation through 31 December 2028, following a bridging window that ran from 1 July to 31 December 2025, on the board's own list of accredited pharmacy undergraduate programmes. The previous cycle covered 2018-19 to 2021-22 and was then extended to 30 June 2025, which makes the college's claim of three consecutive accreditations checkable and correct. Only the bachelor's carries it; the master's, the diploma and the clinical doctorate are not separately accredited.

Statutory approval comes from the Pharmacy Council of India under file 1419, and the Pharm.D entry in its approval list records something the college's own pages do not spell out: the memorandum of understanding for clinical training is signed with IRT Perundurai Medical College and Hospital, at Perundurai in Erode district, in the council's Pharm.D list. The prospectus does print the partner, but only in its Tamil panel; the English half of the same sheet offers a looser line about the Erode Government Hospital and multi-speciality hospitals.

The college's prospectus also claims approval by the All India Council for Technical Education and 2(f) status from the University Grants Commission. No NAAC grade appears anywhere on the site; there is an internal quality assurance cell with its own page, but no accreditation certificate behind it.

Scholarships

The college names no scholarship of its own, and its prospectus says only that scholarship and bank loan facilities are available. What is documented is how many students get tuition covered, and the counts are large. Of 400 undergraduates on the roll in 2024-25, the state and central governments carried the whole tuition of 105 of them, and the college's own funds carried 42 more, in the 2026 ranking submission. Among the 161 students in the six-year course, 22 were on government reimbursement.

The year before, the numbers were higher still: 128 undergraduates on government reimbursement and 38 on institutional funds out of 408, in the 2025 submission. No private body funded a single student in either year. For a family here, that means the realistic route to a subsidised seat is a Tamil Nadu government scheme applied for through the usual state channels, not anything the college administers.

Student Reviews

No student account of this college reaches us with a name attached to it, so this page carries no rating and repeats no star score from a directory listing.

There are better things to check. The accreditation window above has a fixed end date, so a prospective student can confirm the bachelor's is accredited for the years they would study. The selection committee's allotment orders show real marks at which real candidates took seats here. The placement register names employers and can be compared with what the college says on its own front pages. Those three documents settle more than a star rating does.
