Technology Development And Utilization Programme For Women(TDUPW)
Overview
About TDUPW
The Technology Development and Utilization Programme for Women (TDUPW) is run by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), a department under the Ministry of Science and Technology. It funds projects that develop technologies meant to benefit women and then put them to use, with weight given to technologies coming out of scientific establishments.
DSIR set up the programme to meet the specific needs of women and to strengthen their contribution to technology capability building. It backs work that reduces drudgery, builds capacity and helps women earn a living, in areas such as food processing, health and hygiene, and nutrition. The support is financial assistance towards a sanctioned project, not a payment made to a person.
That assistance goes to organisations working in this field rather than to individual women. Eligible applicants include government and non-government institutions, professional bodies, societies registered under the Societies Registration Act and trusts registered under the Indian Trusts Act, each expected to have adequate experience in developing or spreading technologies for women. Proposals are submitted online through the government's Service Plus portal, and the scheme is classified as a government-to-business (G2B) service.
