Overview

About IWAI-INTERNSHIP

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) Internship Scheme places selected students inside IWAI for short-term exposure to its different verticals, divisions and units as interns. IWAI is a statutory body constituted on 27 October 1986 under the Inland Waterways Authority of India Act, 1985, and it works under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Its head office is in Noida, with regional offices in cities such as Kolkata, Patna, Guwahati and Kochi, and an intern may be required to work at the head office or a project office depending on the requirement of the Authority.

The internship is meant to let young academic talent understand how India's inland waterways transport is developed and regulated at the macro level. Interns are attached to the functions that plan, build and maintain national waterway infrastructure, and the placement is time-bound rather than a standing job.

Selected interns receive a monthly stipend, and a completion certificate is issued after they submit a report or paper that IWAI officers evaluate. The scheme is open across India to undergraduate students, postgraduates and research scholars from recognised institutions; selection and the number of seats rest with the Authority.
