About TIP
The Technical Internship Programme (TIP) is a central-government internship run by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), the agency that delivers digital projects under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Selected engineering students and recent graduates work from inside NeGD on live e-governance projects.
The point is hands-on work rather than classroom theory. Interns join live projects under the guidance of working professionals, in areas such as software development, data engineering, machine learning, testing and DevOps. The placement is paid and in person, based at NeGD in New Delhi, and it comes with a monthly stipend and a completion certificate where performance is satisfactory. The benefit is cash support for the duration of the internship, not a tuition scholarship.
It is meant for engineering graduates, postgraduates and final-year students from technical disciplines who meet the academic and citizenship conditions. Candidates apply online and submit a no-objection certificate from their institute. It suits students who want documented, hands-on experience on government technology projects before entering the job market.

- The Technical Internship Scheme in NeGD will be conducted bi-annually i.e., - January Session and July Session.
- The duration of the Technical Internship will be fixed for six (06) months and will not be extended further.
- Stipend & Certificate For Technical Internship: A token stipend of ₹ 20,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his / her Mentor.
- NeGD will issue certificates to interns upon the satisfactory completion of the internship (six months), subject to certification by their Mentor.
- Regular attendance and satisfactory performance are a must for the stipend & certificate.

The objective of the Technical Internship Programme is to provide engineering graduates and post-graduates with practical exposure by engaging them in live technical projects in a professional environment, enabling them to develop technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while contributing to e-Governance initiatives.
Engineering graduates or post-graduates with at least 75% marks in their qualifying degree can apply. Final-year engineering students are also eligible.
The internship duration is 6 months, and it will not be extended further.
Yes. Selected interns receive a token stipend of ₹20,000/- per month, subject to satisfactory performance certified by the mentor.

A total of 50 internship positions are available across different technical roles.
Candidates are shortlisted based on marks in the qualifying degree, followed by interviews or selection by an internal committee as per the requirements of NeGD.
Preference may be given to applicants who: Have relevant certification courses, or Belong to the top 100 colleges ranked under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by the Ministry of Education.
Yes. An Internship Completion Certificate is issued by NeGD after successful completion of the 6-month internship and satisfactory performance certified by the mentor.
Applicants must fill out and submit the prescribed application form online through the NeGD website before the last date of submission.
