About SSST-PTS

The Stipend Scheme for Scheduled Tribes - Poultry Training Stipend pays a tribal adult in Gujarat for the week spent learning to keep poultry. Trainees are taught at the Intensive Poultry Development units and District Poultry Extension Centres of the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, and the stipend is Rs 2,000 (Directorate FAQ).

What sets the tribal version apart is its budget. Resolution ACD/PEF/e-file/2/2024/3769/P1 of the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, approved on 01-04-2026, keeps a whole package of tribal poultry schemes running and charges it to the Tribal Area Sub Plan head of the animal husbandry budget (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution). The resolution prints its figures in Gujarati numerals, and its table shows the company the stipend keeps:

The stipend line is small next to the bird-unit lines, yet it feeds them. None of the three bird and broiler units in the package can be claimed without poultry training, and this course is the Directorate's own way of providing it.

No last date is announced for this stipend. Its clock is the financial year and the applicant's own steps:

• The year opens on 1 April. The 2026-27 approval lets spending begin from 01-04-2026, and any money left over is surrendered at the end of the year (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).
• Seven days after saving the iKhedut form to confirm it and get the signed printout and papers to the office (myScheme listing, archived copy).

Eligibility criteria

Annexure-1 of the tribal resolution carries six numbered conditions for the stipend, and two of them decide who can have it. The first keeps the benefit for tribal beneficiaries of Gujarat State and tells the offices to put women first; the third has the applicant file a caste certificate along with the application (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution). The myScheme listing adds a word the annexure never uses: the trainee must be an adult.

A natural question is whether the trainee must live in a Scheduled Area. The annexure does not say so. Although the money is booked under the Tribal Area Sub Plan, the stipend conditions name no district, taluka or tribal block; they speak only of the tribal beneficiary of Gujarat State.

On income, the two myScheme cards written for tribal trainees disagree. The stipend listing wants an income proof certificate (myScheme listing, archived copy), while the combined card for the tribal poultry schemes leaves income off its document list and asks instead for a Scheduled Tribe caste certificate, plus a below-poverty-line certificate only where one applies (myScheme card for the tribal poultry schemes, archived). Annexure-1 never mentions income at all, which leaves the caste certificate as the one paper every version demands.

Exclusions

Annexure-1 has no exclusion clause of its own. Its first condition, though, closes the stipend to two groups:

• A second member of the same household. The condition allows the stipend to one member of a family, once in a lifetime (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution), so a daughter cannot draw it after her father has.
• Non-tribal applicants, however poor. The condition names tribal beneficiaries only, and the money sits under the Tribal Area Sub Plan head, so a trainee without a Scheduled Tribe certificate is not paid from this line.

Renewal conditions

A trainee draws this stipend once; the only thing renewed is the budget behind it. The department approved the tribal package for 2025-26 by a resolution of 05/07/2025 carrying Rs ૬.૬૭ crore (six crore sixty-seven lakh rupees), and the order of 01-04-2026 extends it for 2026-27 at Rs ૬.૫૧ crore (six crore fifty-one lakh rupees) (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution). That order also carries a lapse clause: if nothing is spent under the approval for two years in a row, the approval is cancelled automatically.

The tribal annexure fixes the payment at Rs 2,000 in all for a trainee who has completed the six-day course, sent by DBT straight into the trainee's bank account, and it has the office that ran the course make that payment online (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution; Directorate FAQ). The trainee also receives a certificate bearing their photograph.

With the certificate in hand, a tribal trainee can move on to three units funded by the same package. The training window differs for each:

• 25 RIR or Kadaknath birds. The state meets 75% of the cost, up to Rs 6,000, in kind as reared birds and poultry feed (myScheme card for the tribal poultry schemes, archived). The trainee must have finished the course in the same financial year, and the resolution budgets these units for ૩૨૦૦ (thirty-two hundred) tribal beneficiaries in 2026-27 (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).
• 100 broiler birds. Assistance is 75% of the unit cost, up to Rs 36,000 (Directorate FAQ). Training from any institution in the current or previous year qualifies, and the applicant needs land papers or a lease of at least five years for the shed (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).
• 1000 broiler birds. Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries get 90% of the cost, up to Rs 8,15,000, for a shed of 1500 square feet (Directorate FAQ). The tribal resolution funds new farms only, releases the money in two stages (first for the shed and equipment, then against the bills for three batches of chicks, feed and medicine), and lists the poultry training certificate among the papers the application must carry (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).

• The beneficiary will be given maximum ₹2000 (direct in bank account) stipend for six days training. (Considering ₹300/- per day, ₹1800/- for 6 days as daily allowance and ₹200/- as to & fro transport fare with the maximum total stipend ₹2000/-)
• Beneficiary will be given poultry training certificate after completion of training.

Of the papers on the listing, shown below, the tribal resolution's stipend annexure names only one itself: the caste certificate, submitted with the application (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).

File the training certificate somewhere safe once the course ends. The tribal 1000-broiler application form names it as a required enclosure, next to land papers and a bank statement, animal husbandry Kisan Credit Card or bank loan showing the trainee's ૧૦% (ten per cent) share (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution; unit size as on the Directorate FAQ).

How to apply

Two official tribal sources give opposite orders. myScheme's combined card for the tribal poultry schemes says the training at an Intensive Poultry Development Project or District Poultry Extension Centre must come before the application (myScheme card, archived), while the second condition of Annexure-1 lists the iKhedut application first, the course after it and the office's online payment last (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution). Ask the poultry office which order it follows before you file.

1. Find the poultry office nearest you. The Directorate's pocket directory gives an officer and contact for each Intensive Poultry Development Project office, including those at Ahwa in Dang, Muvaliya Farm in Dahod and Valia in Bharuch district (pocket directory).
2. Register on iKhedut using your Aadhaar and mobile numbers, as the iKhedut rules at the end of the resolution provide (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution). Type the portal's main address, ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in, rather than the long form link on the listing, which dates from the older portal and no longer opens a form.
3. Print the confirmed form. myScheme's steps allow seven days after saving to confirm the application, and they say that applying online without taking the printout does not count (myScheme listing, archived copy). The signed printout is then uploaded or carried to the office with your papers.
4. Sit all six days. The certificate with your photograph is issued only after the last day, and the combined tribal card counts a training completion certificate among the documents for its bird units (myScheme card, archived).

Checking Where Your Application and Payment Stand

Step 8 of the combined tribal card links an Applicant Corner page on iKhedut for status checks (myScheme card, archived). Like the listing's form link, that page now forwards to the redesigned iKhedut site, where the component officer's pre-approval of eligible applications is also recorded (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution). No source offers a public tracker for the stipend payment itself. What the resolution does fix is its route: the scheme must be registered on the DBT portal, and assistance moves only by DBT (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).

How winners are picked

Selection process

Three conditions of the tribal resolution shape selection: assistance is paid only within the fixed number of beneficiaries and the budget provision, beneficiaries are to be chosen by a transparent process, and applications and approvals are to be handled online (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution). On iKhedut, the component officer pre-approves eligible applications against each district's physical target (Directorate scheme page). The resolution gives women priority, and the listing extends priority to below-poverty-line applicants.

The resolution does not say how many trainees its stipend line of Rs ૦.૬૪ crore (sixty-four lakh rupees) is meant to cover, although it puts a count of ૩૨૦૦ (thirty-two hundred) beneficiaries on the 25-bird line printed just above it (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).

Terms & conditions

• DBT only. The resolution requires financial assistance to go by DBT, and the stipend annexure sends it directly to the trainee's account (Tribal Area Sub Plan resolution).
• Monitoring. The scheme is to be linked to the Chief Minister's dashboard, and social audit and third-party verification are to be carried out from time to time.
• Ring-fenced money. The grant may not be used for any other purpose.
