Overview

About STSEMSTSMCUPSCVIII

The State Talent Search Examination in Mathematics and Science is a merit examination and scholarship run by the Education Department, Government of Meghalaya. It is administered by the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) in Shillong, which conducts the test each year across the state.

The examination is for Scheduled Tribe students of Meghalaya who are in Class VIII at a recognised school in the state, covering the Khasi, Garo and Jaintia communities, including Rabha and Koch. Its purpose is to identify tribal students with an aptitude for mathematics and science at the close of the upper primary stage and to help them continue into the higher classes.

Students who clear the examination receive a cash talent incentive award. The support runs for two years, covering Class IX and Class X, and the money is paid directly into the student's bank account by NEFT or RTGS. The scheme is funded entirely by the State Government, and students apply through their schools.
