About LAPTOPMEGHALAYA
Awarding Laptops to Meritorious Students of Meghalaya is run by the Information Technology Department of the Government of Meghalaya. It recognises students who score well in their board examinations by giving them a laptop, so the benefit is in kind rather than a cash award.
The scheme covers students who pass the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations in the state, including candidates from the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) along with CBSE, ICSE and ISC. To qualify, an applicant must have studied in Meghalaya, or be a resident of the state who studied elsewhere, and must have topped the relevant board examination for that year.
Selection follows the merit criteria the department publishes each academic year, and the laptops are handed over at an awards ceremony. The purpose is to reward strong academic performance and put a working computer in the hands of top scorers as they move into higher studies.

| The applicant must have studied in the State of Meghalaya; or the applicant should be a resident of Meghalaya who studied outside the State. | |
| The applicant must have topped in the respective Annual School Board Examinations in a particular year. | |
| The applicant must have passed the examinations conducted only by | Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE); |
| The applicant must have passed the examinations conducted only by | Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE); |
| The applicant must have passed the examinations conducted only by | Central Board for School Education (CBSE). |
| The applicant must have passed the examinations conducted only by | The applicant must have appeared in Class X or Class XII Annual Board Examinations of the above-mentioned Boards/Council. |
| The applicant must have passed the examinations conducted only by | The applicant of Class X of CBSE Board shall be selected as per Section 3 II (a).1. For Class XII, the applicant should have topped in any stream, namely Arts, Commerce or Science. |
| Subject-Specific Eligibility (MBOSE Only) | For Class X (MBOSE), the applicant who is a subject topper in Mathematics, Science or Computer Application shall also be eligible for the award. |
