Award For Meritorious Students Of Meghalaya In The HSSLC Examination (Science Stream)(AMSMHSSLC)

No opening or closing date is published for this award, and that is a feature of how it works rather than a gap in the record. The trigger is the declaration of the HSSLC Science result: MBOSE announced the HSSLC Examinations 2024 result for the Science, Commerce and Vocational streams on 6 May 2024, and the scheme's chain of intimation starts on a day like that one (Notifications, Meghalaya Board of School Education).

Do not sit refreshing the directorate's scholarship page for an advertisement. DERT lists four scholarship and examination schemes there, and this award is not among them (Scholarships, DERT, Department of Education, Meghalaya). The notice that matters comes to your principal.

Read the word "current" in the guidelines closely, because it does most of the filtering. The award goes to students of the current HSSLC Examination (Science Stream), so a Science pass from an earlier year cannot be brought back to it, and the Scheduled Tribe certificate has to be a Meghalaya one (scheme guidelines).

The 60% aggregate is a floor, not the standard that actually decides an award. Selection runs district-wise against a fixed number of places, so in a district with 6 places the students who finish seventh and eighth are eligible and still unfunded. No earnings limit appears in the guidelines and no income certificate appears in the document list, so a household's finances neither open nor close this door. Where you finished in your own district's Science list is what settles it.

DERT publishes no separate exclusion list for this award, so the disqualifiers are the eligibility rules read backwards: an Arts, Commerce or Vocational stream pass, a Science pass from a previous year, a Scheduled Tribe certificate issued outside Meghalaya, and an aggregate under the qualifying mark. The guidelines also carry no bar on holding another scholarship, unlike the state's separate Post-Matric Merit Scholarship for Tribal Students, whose rules say a scholarship holder will not receive any other scholarship or stipend (Post Matric Merit Scholarship for Tribal Students, Department of Education, Meghalaya).

There is nothing to renew. The guidelines close their process-flow page with a note in the margin that this award scheme has no renewal, and the money is described throughout as a one time award rather than the first of a series (scheme guidelines). Taking it in the year of your Science result leaves you no further claim on DERT under this scheme the year after.

The cash and the certificate travel separately. Money reaches the awardee's bank account by NEFT once DERT has verified the documents; the certificate is posted to the residential address the student gave.

Two of the three documents are things a Science topper already holds. The third is the one that delays payment: the bank account whose front page you submit has to be the awardee's own, because that is the account the NEFT transfer lands in (scheme guidelines). Screening at DERT, Shillong follows immediately after the principal passes the intimation on, so a student without an account open on result day is the one holding up the file. The Class 12 marksheet is the MBOSE HSSLC marksheet, and the tribe certificate should be the Meghalaya-issued one named in the eligibility rules.

You do not open this one yourself. The Controller of Examinations, MBOSE Tura furnishes the list of awardees to DERT after the Science result is declared, DERT tells the principal of each school or college, and the principal tells the student to submit the documents to DERT, Shillong (scheme guidelines). The state scheme register puts the same thing in one phrase, describing how to avail the award as offline from DERT (Schemes, Meghalaya Government Portal).

The National Scholarship Portal is listed as the scheme's application route on its myScheme record, and the two are not in conflict in practice: whichever form your principal points you at, the documents still land at DERT for screening. If a submission of yours does go through NSP, the portal's home page carries an Application Status login for the application itself and a Track Your Payment link that opens the PFMS Know Your Payment search, where a released payment is traced by bank account number (National Scholarship Portal). For a file that DERT is paying directly, the honest status check is the school office, and then the directorate.

There is no interview and no shortlisting round. Merit in the declared Science result, taken district-wise, produces the list; DERT screens the documents and makes the final selection; and where a district has no student entitled to the award, that place is not lost but goes to the student topping the waiting list (scheme guidelines). One number in the paperwork has drifted, and it is worth knowing before you count your odds. The guidelines put 6 places in each of the remaining 10 districts, which is what makes the total 80, while the scheme's own published question set says the remaining districts number 11. The state's district list now carries Eastern West Khasi Hills, headquartered at Mairang and still sharing its area and population figures with West Khasi Hills (Districts, Meghalaya Government Portal), which the guidelines' arithmetic leaves no room for. Ask DERT how many places your district carries this year rather than counting them off the PDF.

The award is one-time, the payment follows verification rather than selection, and an unclaimed district place moves to the waiting list instead of lapsing (scheme guidelines). The state register records the scheme as 100% state funded and reserved for the ST community, so no central share and no separate central sanction sits behind the transfer (Schemes, Meghalaya Government Portal).

DERT is the office that screens, selects and pays, and the guidelines send your documents to it at Shillong.
