About SPREMSD
The State Pre-Matric Scholarship for Disabled is a school-level scholarship run by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of the Government of Maharashtra. It is a state scheme, funded fully by the Maharashtra government.
Its stated aim is to encourage students with disability to pursue their education. The benefit is a cash scholarship paid to the student, and it is directed at children studying at the pre-matriculation (school) stage.
The scholarship is meant for students who have a disability recognised under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and who hold a valid disability certificate from a competent authority. Categories covered include blindness and low vision, hearing impairment, orthopedic (locomotor) disability, intellectual disability, mental illness and leprosy-cured conditions.

Eligibility criteria
| The applicant should be a citizen of India. | |
| The applicant should be a domicile / permanent resident of the state of Maharashtra. | |
| The applicant should be a student admitted/enrolled in a school recognized by the Govt. of Maharashtra. | |
| The applicant should be a Person with Disability (Visually Handicapped, Low Vision, Hearing Impaired, Orthopedically Handicapped, etc). | |
| The percentage of the disability should be 40% or above. | |
| The applicant should not have failed in the last qualifying examination. | |
| The applicant should be pursuing a pre-metric qualification, i.e. Class 1st to Class 10th. |
