Overview

About TMDVSO

Training of Motor Driving to VJNT, SBS & OBC is a state welfare scheme run by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, Government of Maharashtra. It trains candidates from the Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribes (VJNT), the Special Backward Class (SBC, which the scheme title abbreviates as SBS) and the Other Backward Class (OBC) to drive and to work as bus conductors.

The aim is employment. Instead of a cash grant, the scheme gives a skill: instruction in light motor and heavy motor vehicle driving, together with conductor training, and the department bears the running cost of the course.

It is meant for individuals from the VJNT, SBC and OBC categories who meet the age, education and fitness standards the Motor Vehicles Act sets for a driving licence. The full eligibility criteria and the amounts the state pays towards each course are listed separately, and you should read those before you apply.
