About SRSN
The State Research Scholarship is a cash award scheme run by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, and funded entirely by the state government. It supports residents of Nagaland who are beginning advanced research and need help meeting the cost of their work.
The scholarship is aimed at scholars in the first year of an M.Phil, Ph.D. or D.Litt. programme at a recognised Indian university. The benefit is paid as cash, meant to help a scholar carry out research and complete the degree rather than to cover tuition alone.
Eligibility is narrow. The scheme is open to Scheduled Tribe and indigenous students of Nagaland who are pursuing research, are not employed in a government or semi-government post, and are not drawing another scholarship or stipend at the same time. Applications are made through Nagaland's Common Scholarship Portal, where candidates upload domicile, income and identity documents for verification.

Who can apply
Eligibility criteria
| Applicable for Scheduled Tribe and Indigenous students of Nagaland who are pursuing Ph.D/D.Litt. course from recognized Universities within India. | |
| Scholars who have availed this Scholarship three times are no longer eligible. | |
| Applicant must not be a beneficiary of any other Fellowship/Scholarship scheme. | |
| Applicant must not be an employee of any government/semi-government establishment. | |
| Note: To apply as a Fresh candidate, the student must be enrolled in the first year of the course. Renewal is applicable only to beneficiaries of this Scheme from the previous year. |
