Overview

About SPMSD

The State Post-matric Scholarship for Disabled is a Maharashtra government scholarship for students with disabilities who have cleared matriculation and are continuing into post-secondary study. It is run by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of the Government of Maharashtra, the state body responsible for welfare of underprivileged groups through education, training and social assistance.

Its stated aim is to encourage students with disabilities to pursue higher education, and it does so through a cash benefit paid to the student against the costs of post-matric study. Payment runs through MahaDBT, Maharashtra's Direct Benefit Transfer portal, which disburses the state's scholarship and welfare benefits into beneficiary bank accounts.

The scheme is meant for residents of Maharashtra with a recognised disability who are enrolled in post-matriculation courses. The eligibility conditions, the disability threshold and the amounts payable are set by the department and listed in full alongside this summary; read those before applying, since they decide whether a given student qualifies.
