Scholarship To 2 Years Pre-Service Student Teachers Undergoing D.El.Ed Programme At DIETs And CTTC Sohra(STYPSSTDPDCS)

The programme has run in all the 7 DIETs since April 2012, per the guidelines, and no standing closing date exists: the deadline that matters is each cycle's admission deadline, announced by the institutes. The recent pattern: CTTC Sohra's 2023 cycle set 31st May, 2023 as the last date for application forms, and the 2026-2028 session's counselling schedule and selected-candidate lists went up on the CTTC site through mid-2026. Watch the local newspapers, the DERT site and your nearest institute's own noticeboard for the current cycle's advertisement.

The bar is set by the admission rules, not by an income test. The scheme is for permanent residents of Meghalaya, and the scheme guidelines set the numeric bar: Class XII passed from a recognised board or council with 50% marks, a 5% relaxation for ST, SC, OBC and PwD candidates, and an age band of 18 to 27 years with relaxation of up to 5 years for the same categories. Candidates still waiting for their Class XII result can apply, provided they produce provisional or original documents at counselling.

The age cut-off date moves with each admission cycle rather than staying fixed: the scheme guidelines reckoned age as on 01.01.2020 for that cycle, while CTTC Sohra's 2023 admission notice reckoned it as on 01.01.2023. Two seat rules shape who actually gets in. Seats are allocated block-wise so that each block ends up with trained teachers of its own, and at least 30% of seats go to candidates with a Science and Mathematics background at Class XII, per the guidelines. The guidelines publish no family income ceiling anywhere: selection is merit, category and block quota, which makes this stipend reachable for candidates whose household income would disqualify them from means-tested schemes.

No exclusion list exists anywhere in this scheme's paperwork, so what rules a would-be trainee out in practice comes from the admission cycle itself: CTTC Sohra's 2023 notice states plainly that applications received after the last date will not be entertained.

The scheme's paperwork asks nothing of a trainee moving into the second year: the guidelines close with the note that the scholarship is given to students for both the first and second year, so continuation follows the course itself rather than a fresh form.

The stipend is Rs 5000 per month, paid for 10 months in each academic year across the two-year course, as the guidelines state. What the record does not show is how the budget sits behind that figure. The guidelines sanction a fixed amount to each institute against its combined first-year and second-year intake:

Money does not flow to you from a central portal. Each principal submits the list of candidates with the scholarship requirement to DERT for sanction, DERT releases the amount to the institute, and the institute credits your bank account through RTGS or NEFT, per the mode-of-payment section of the guidelines.

Beyond the listed certificates, the online application itself needs a scanned copy of a recent colour passport-size photograph and a scanned copy of your signature, per the guidelines. Bank details matter more here than in most schemes: selected candidates must open an account at the State Bank of India in the district where they are selected, because that account is where the institute credits the stipend. Candidates who applied while awaiting their Class XII result should carry the provisional or original documents to counselling, where they are checked.

Each cycle opens with wide publicity in local newspapers, per the guidelines, so the advertisement is the trigger, not a standing portal window. The guidelines direct candidates to apply online at megeducation.gov.in/dert, the DERT site on the NIC state portal, and to read the instructions there before filling the form. CTTC Sohra has also run paper applications: its 2023 notice issued forms from its own office in Sohra and from the KJP Assembly Office at Mission Compound, Shillong.

Tracking works differently from portal-based schemes, and knowing where to look saves weeks of waiting. No online application-status or payment-status tracker is published for this scheme. The institutes themselves publish each stage on their own sites: CTTC Sohra's site carries the counselling-cum-personal-interview schedule, the list of selected candidates and the waiting list for the 2026-2028 session under its latest news. For the stipend itself, the follow-up point is your institute's principal, since the payment chain in the guidelines runs from the principal's list to DERT's sanction to a credit in your SBI account.

Selection has two scored stages, and the written test is only a third of the picture. The entrance test is a written examination of multiple choice questions, each carrying one mark, with no negative marking for incorrect answers, and it also probes aptitude for the teaching profession, per the DERT scholarship page. The test is held at the seven DIETs themselves, which serve as centres with codes running 100 to 700.

Counselling then scores every candidate out of 150 marks, and the guidelines break the allotment down like this:

The academic rows are alternatives, since the guidelines score a single Class XII band per candidate at 50, 40 or 30 marks. Final selection is merit within the block quota. Each institute keeps a waiting list equal to its intake capacity, and if selected candidates fall short of capacity, the institution gives preference to waiting-list candidates from other districts as well. The DERT page puts the NCTE-approved pre-service intake at 100 each for Thadlaskein, Sohra and Resubelpara and 50 each for Nongpoh, Nongstoin, Tura and Baghmara, 500 in total across the seven DIETs.

No consolidated terms document exists beyond the scheme guidelines. The operative conditions the guidelines impose: the stipend runs 10 months per year for the two course years, it is paid only into a State Bank of India account opened in the district of selection, and each institute's disbursal is capped by its sanctioned amount in the table above.
