Overview

About SSSSCM

The Scholarship Scheme of Sainik School Chhingchhip is a state scheme of the School Education Department, Government of Mizoram. It puts state funds toward cadets studying at Sainik School Chhingchhip, a military residential school in Mizoram, and is meant to keep a cadetship affordable for local families.

The award is a cash benefit for cadets of Mizoram domicile who have been admitted to the school, applied to school fees, dietary charges and clothing money. For cadets in the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories, the size of the award is graded by parental income, from a full award for lower-income families down to a half award and then none as family income rises.

A service-linked bond comes with a government scholarship. At admission, the parents or guardians of a cadet sign an undertaking: if the cadet does not sit the UPSC examination for the National Defence Academy, or joins the Academy but does not complete the training, the scholarship amount is repayable to the government. The aim behind the scheme is to move Mizoram cadets toward NDA entrance and a commission in the Armed Forces.
