About TCFSAP
The Training Centre for Specially-Abled Persons is a state vocational-training scheme run by the Directorate of Social Welfare under Mizoram's Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs Department. It gives persons with disabilities in the state a one-year trade course with a monthly stipend for the training period, so that they finish with a skill they can earn from.
Training is organised by trade and by gender. Female trainees take tailoring; male trainees can take tailoring or shoe-making. The department runs three centres for this: two residential centres at Aizawl, one for men and one for women, and a non-residential centre at Lunglei. On completing the course, trainees receive equipment matched to their trade, such as a hand sewing machine, a treadle sewing machine, or cobbler's tools, to help them start work.
The scheme is funded by the Government of Mizoram and sits within the department's cluster of disability schemes. It is meant for specially-abled residents of Mizoram; the full eligibility conditions and the application route are set out with the scheme's official listing.
