The Post-Matric Scholarship For Scheduled Tribes Students(PMSSTS)
Overview
About PMSSTS
The Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribes Students is a state scheme for Mizoram, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the Government of Mizoram. The Mizoram Scholarship Board runs it within the state, handling implementation and verification, and the two governments share the funding in a 90:10 ratio.
The scheme helps Scheduled Tribe students meet the cost of continuing their studies once they have passed matriculation. It reimburses tuition and course fees and pays a maintenance allowance, so that fees and living costs across the levels it covers do not push eligible students out of education.
It is meant for students who belong to a Scheduled Tribe and are permanently settled in Mizoram, studying anywhere from Class XI up to a post-doctoral fellowship, across recognised professional, technical and non-technical courses, including correspondence and distance modes. Eligibility is also subject to a family income ceiling, with the award amounts fixed by the scheme's own rules.
