Overview

About SFG

The Scholarship for Fatherless Girls is a state cash scholarship for girls in Madhya Pradesh who have lost their fathers and are studying in government schools. It is run by the School Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and is meant to keep such students in school by easing the cost their families carry after losing their main earner.

The award covers girls from Class 1 through Class 12 who are enrolled in a government school in the state. It is paid once a year, and the amount is fixed in bands that rise with the class the student is in. The money reaches the student's own bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer rather than passing through the school or any intermediary.

There is no separate online form for the family to fill in. The scholarship is processed through the state's Shiksha Portal, where the school records and verifies an eligible student's details. Applicants are expected to be permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh who have passed the previous class.
