Overview

About SPPY

The Shiksha Protsaahan Puraskaar Yojana is a state education-incentive award run in Madhya Pradesh for the children of workers registered with the Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal, the state Labour Welfare Board. The Labour Department of Madhya Pradesh is the nodal department, and the award is administered through the Shram Kalyan Mandal, whose jurisdiction covers workers in the state's industrial units and establishments.

The purpose is to encourage the children of these workers to continue into higher education. The benefit is a cash award, disbursed by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) straight into the student's bank account, with the amount set according to the course being studied. There is no application fee.

The award is meant for students from Madhya Pradesh whose parent is an eligible registered worker and who have secured strong marks in their previous examinations. A family can claim it for up to two children, and it is open to both urban and rural applicants with no caste-based condition. Applications are submitted offline through a Lok Seva Kendra during the period when the Shram Kalyan Mandal invites them.
