Overview

About SOSFSS

The Scheme of Scholarship for Sainik Schools is a state scholarship run by the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, which sits under the Education Department of the Government of Meghalaya. It supports Meghalaya students studying at Sainik School, Goalpara, with the stated aim of encouraging them towards a career in the armed forces.

The benefit is a one-time cash award. The amount a student receives is tied to the family's monthly income, so the scheme is directed at lower-income households rather than paid at a flat rate. The Directorate administers it through its Scholarship Cell in Shillong.

Eligibility centres on Class 12 students at Sainik School, Goalpara whose parents are permanent residents of Meghalaya and fall within the scheme's income ceiling. Within that group, it gives priority to students from Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste communities and to the children of serving personnel and ex-servicemen.
